He woke feeling refreshed, though there was an ache in his legs that made them feel stiff when he stretched. He felt as if he'd been walking forever, and in a way he had. The freedom, the journeying. It was amazing! But...being back in the pack, he prefferred that any day, especially now that he'd made his peace with his father. Not that Gizmo would ever be mad at him.

But the best thing was waking up next to Sandrina. It was different somehow, almost special. He shifted slightly and turned to look down at her face. Beautiful. Her fur reminded him of the autumn leaves and now with autumn on the horizon she would melt into the landscape as if she weren't there at all.

He fancied that she'd be a fantastic hunter.

He smiled and stretched again. It was good to lounge like this, waiting for the sun to rise higher and higher. He had promised to show Sandrina around today. Maybe she'd like it so much that she'd choose to stay with him.

The thought of her leaving saddened him greatly, but he was torn. If she wanted to go back, would he go with her? Or...would he stay with his father. He hated the leave his father alone but...didn't he deserve a life also? Hmm...maybe he could convince 'Rina to stay. He'd show her all the beautiful things about the packlands. He didn't want to lose his very first, proper friend. Not just yet.

For the first time in a long time Sandrina had a peaceful slumber. In dreams she met Remiel and together they played among meadows filled with flowers under a bright endless sky. It was beautiful and peaceful and she hoped that the serenity would last for the rest of her days. Gone were her usual dreams of life on the run. A life spent with her mother and deformed brother, searching for a home that would never come to them. Claiming a land that wasn't really there's to claim. Gone were those, replaced with this overwhelming sense of peace.

But like all dreams..

They had to end eventually.

Slowly the meadows and the flowers began to fade away. Then came the blue blue sky and finally the wolf she had grown to love. She shifted and twitched. Slowly, very slowly, one eye began to flutter before opening while the other followed suit. It took her a moment to realize where she was, and who she as with, but once she did the memory of the past day came flooding back into her brain.

And the peace returned.

She grinned and snuggled up to Remmy, feeling like a lover waking up after a night's passion though they had only let sleep take hold. Still however, she felt close. Connected.

"Mornin'...." she said sweetly, as a soft sky escaped her maw.

If he were a cat he would have been purring with joy, instead his tail thumped cheerfully against the base of his den. Her fur was so thick and warm. He tired to imagine how snuggly she would be with a full winter coat. The days were beginning to turn, but the weather was still pleasant. Occasionally a cold wind would sweep across the forest but more often than not the gentle sun came to aid.

He glanced down at her and dared a small lick across the top of her nose.

Good morning. He said through a yawn. Did you sleep well? He had to admit that he had slept wonderfully. I slept like a log! He laughed. He hadn't dreamt, but he had rested well and his sleep had been undisturbed. First time in ages actually. As much as I love to travel there's nothing like sleeping in the security of your own den. He pressed his nose into her ruff and breathed in.

Would you like that tour of the lands today? His tail started to wag again.

The smile remain and intensified at the lick, but she didn't mention it, so was her inner excitement that she only stretched lightly, feeling her back roll and settle with the motion. Ah this was such a good feeling! She could spend forever like this, she really could. And again that ever lasting conflict began to make her heart tick around inside her heart with just a faster rate of beating.

Family versus love.

Oh it was hard for someone like her to fully choose one side over the other. But with moments like this... oh if she could spend her days like this forever and ever...wouldn't it be worth it? Her mother wouldn't even tell anyone they were related and often had a harsh word to say about her lack of mind, her brother was a disgusting deformed brute...and one brother had been lost since she was a pup.

On the other hand there was Remiel. Gentle and sweet. Such a caring wolf that made the motled femme like she had died and gone straight to heaven.

It seemed the choice was made long before it was put into question.

She wanted to stay.

Now Sandrina just had to figure out how to tell him that. Easier said then done. So instead she figured that maybe, somehow, over the tour of the lands she could drop a hint or two.

"I'd really love that," she said with a self assured headnod.

That's good. He stretched again, enjoying the feel of his muscles warming up to the movement. Then slowly he pushed out of the den, knocking his back against the entrance to send soil scattering down into his fur. He strode a few steps out and shook the clods of earth from himself and then turned his head back.

Liquid golden eyes sought out Sandrina's, hoping that she would follow him. He knew where he'd take her first and where he'd take her last. They start out in the forests. At this time of year they looked beautiful. Then he'd take her across the width of the packlands and end the tour at the sea.

The sea that had entranced him so.

I have our route all planned. He replied, his tail ever wagging softly. Maybe if we're lucky we'll come across Phib. I haven't seen him in so long, I bet he'll be surprised to see me, especially now I'm fully grown. He was looking bigger now too, with his winter coat beginning to grow through. He gave a small yip then and turned and dashed, away from the den and up between the trees. The leaves were tinted brown and some had even fallen to coat their path with gold.

Autumn is your season! He called to Sandrina, hoping she would hear him.

Sandrina was slow coming out of the den. She looked back at it longingly once she finally mustered enough will to get up and leave it completely. It wasn't a want of sleep or any other such thing, but it was a desire to stay. Stay in that den, stay with him. She wanted it. God, how she wanted it. But, again she did not know how to voice what she was thinking...what she was feeling.

She turned back towards him, shaking her mottle fur to get the sleep dirt off of her sleek coat.

"Wonderful," she said, not bothering to keep the excitement out of her voice.

Sandrina was, and would always be ever happy and carefree. Oftentimes her carefree and happy attitude made her seem stupid. Others weren't as happy as she, things did not excite them as fully as it did her. So for a while, especially back in her previous pack...the joy stopped. But here, oh here it could be found again. She could be as happy as she wanted with her Remmy.

Her Remmy?

She couldn't help but smile quantly at that thought. She nodded at the words, not knowing who this 'Phib' was, but knowing that if Remmy knew him he'd be a good wolf.

She hurried after him and then laughed at that the comment. "Perhaps it is!" she added, giving her coat a fine shake in delight.

Similar thoughts were running through Remiel's mind. He wanted her to stay, was desperate to ask her, but didn't know how. His first thought had been to go and ask his father for advice, but something inside told him this was something he had to work through himself.

He fell into step beside her, leaning sideways to rub the side of his face against her shoulder. She was truly beautiful. In fact Remiel didn't remember seeing a more beautiful wolf than she. In all his life he had come across many fleeting friendships, ones that lasted a day rather than a lifetime. That was all well and good and life had continued, but it felt to him that if he didn't see Sandrina again a part of him would die inside. The part of him that made him happy.

Thinking of her gone left an agonizing pain in his chest, as if his heart had turned to stone and was weighing against his ribs. He knew then, with a sudden realisation, that this was the pain his father must have been feeling all that time ago and probably still was. Losing his mate and pups to an invisible monster. Tears gathered in his eyes, casting them with a glossy sheen. The realisation of how much pain his father must have gone through, it was so greater than his own. No wonder it had seemed so hard for him to smile, to move, to get up at the beginning of each day to face the world alone.

Alone.

He was angry at himself then for thinking such bad things when it should have been a happy time. He turned his face away slightly in case it showed in his expression but the thoughts wouldn't release him and the next words came without thought.

Sandrina. His nose had drooped slightly. I don't want you to go. There it was out, as blunt as blunt could be. I want to stay with you forever, so if you leave, can I come with you? He knew his father would understand eventually if that were the case. If you went...if you left...the sun wouldn't shine anymore - or that's how it feels.

With each passing touch, each tiny little brushing of fur against fur she shuddered. Her eyes seemed to be in a constant state of a sort of half closed bliss that only he could bring. It was as if she knew no other feeling but this feeling.

Sandrina did not think in terms of being handsome or being pretty. Back at her old pack she knew such things were greatly desired. Afterall Linn would spend countless hours talking about how 'hot' some of the males were, or weren't. To Sandrina everyone intrigued her and handsome/pretty were words reserved for smarter wolves. No, to the likes of her she found words like 'beautiful' fit better, because those didn't have to be limited to the looks of others. She could find her 'beauty' in the trees, stars, river, almost everything. And now she would apply it to Remiel, though her weak mind didn't realize that the word was gender specific. Not that it would matter.

Not that it would ever matter. She knew Remiel would love her whether she knew the correct words or whether she did not.

And wasn't that just something?

To find your one true...dare she say it? Dare she even THINK it? Oh she dared. Mate. To find the counter, the sun to your moon, when she couldn't even think of the right words to say! Oh it was overwheming and wonderful all at once. But then she felt him stiffen and before she even had a chance to wonder outloud if he was alright his spoken words hit her like that tree she had walked into one time.

"I..." she started before scrunching up her nose. She didn't know what to say. Not because she didn't care or because the words meant nothing, just the opposite.

They held the weight of the world in them. Her world.

"Oh Remmy," she cried burying her snout into his shoulder, to nose at the skin beneath the fur. "You can follow me anywhere," she murmured and before she had a chance to realize what she was about to say, she said it.

"I love you," she whispered.

She was right, Remiel would love her whether no matter how she spoke her feelings. His own words had not come out exactly how he had wanted, though they were close. Very close. His heart was thumping painfully against his chest. It felt heavy and warm and odd. What was this feeling? He never wanted it to go.

He heard her hesitation, heard the nervousness in her voice and forced his eyes back to her. She certainly looked cute when she was nervous. Those soulful eyes set in her beautiful face were full of deep expression, just as a wolf's should be. She was everything that Remiel would look for in a friend, in a lifetime companion. Perhaps, perhaps they could grow to become something more, something special.

And then she spoke again, burying her nose against him. It tickled him and he wriggled contentedly, pausing when he realised what she'd said. His heart soared, his soul felt lighter than air. He would, he would follow her anywhere, he knew that now.

He opened his mouth to tell her such when her whispered tickled his sensitive ears. His eyes grew glossy and for a moment he was speechless. He knew that he should be saying something but those words kept him captivated, held him and refused to let go. Then finally he battled free of his thoughts and gave her a tender lick across the snout.

"I love you too." And somehow a huge weight lifted from him, a weight that he'd never even realised was there.

"Sandrina, I'll follow you to the end of the world." He washed the top of her head, just between her eyes, his tail wagging fiercely. Then, slowly he rubbed his chin over the top of her neck and pulled her to him, exhaling deeply.

Her scent. Her warmth. This was a wonderful feeling. Wolf luck must have been looking over him during his journey, that was for sure. He felt the luckiest wolf in the world. He felt as if, right now at this very moment, he was the happiest wolf alive.

((sooo sorry I've been slow replying x_X ))

Her whole body was shaking against his. Not cold, no certainly not a lack of warmth. Not fear, for all her fears simply melted away at the smallest hint of his presence. What was this strange sensation? It was another part of love, wasn't it. Yes, she knew that now. To have such a strong desire to be with one person for the rest of your wolven days. To live life thinking of them upon waking, greating the day with them, and then continuing the dance into dreams. The shaking came from her heart bubbling over with joy.

Oh how she loved him so!

She inahled deeply as well, trying to pull back in some of the her that had escaped out it seemed like. What could one say to top that? This no battle, but she felt the need. So what COULD top that?

The truth perhaps.

"Rem, there's something I have to tell you..." she started.

Sandrina hadn't meant to be such a killjoy, but she wanted to share with him. She wanted there to be no hidden secrets between them, and she knew that this was a big one.

"My pack is not.....good," she said witha small frown. "I was a ....a.." she felt her heart breaking, splitting open and her head moved downward, her body feeling so very limp. "whore," she whispered.

But, in an instant she made to recover. "I didn't want to be though! My mother...she's the alpha, but no one is supposed to know. Remmy, she made me what I am...was...I had to."

" Do you....still love me?" she asked as an afterthought, the words coming out childlike.

(( *so bad and forgot about this RP* sorry hon I took ages too! ;o; ))

His mind had been a wash of different thoughts and emotions, all of them happy and all of them overwhelming. He'd never felt like this before, never realised how much he could come to depend on another. He had met Sandrina by coincidence and they had bonded instantly. They were so alike and yet they balanced one another out perfectly.

Life without her was not worth thinking about.

However, when she began, he felt his nerves increase. What was wrong? He whined, very quietly, urging her to continue, desperate to know and yet at the same time not sure whether he wanted to.

And then she began to speak again and he listened, ears bowed and eyes filled with sadness. How could a mother do that to a pup? Her own pup? How could she do that? He thought of his own mother, Aeria, her gentle eyes and her kindness. He had never thought a mother could be cruel, never even thought it possible.

And yet here it was, proof right in front of him that some wolves were not good mothers. His chest clenched with despair and a sudden protective urge. He realised, then, that if her mother had been anywhere close by, he might have attacked her.

"Of course I do, 'Rina." He replied, rubbing his face close to her neck, desperate to keep her near to him. "How can I not? You're kind and beautiful and perfect. I can't be angry at you for what your..." He couldn't get the word out. "What she did to you." And then he felt guilty for assuming that she'd want to go home, that he might have encouraged it, not knowing what she might be going back to.

"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I never...I didn't know."

She continued to hold her head in shame as he seemed to let the words sink in, the gravity of each syllabel at play. What would he think? What he do? She didn't dare want to think about it. What if he lef- no, oh no. She couldn't think like that. Remmy wouldn't leave her, not ever. He loved her.

Didn't he?

And the confirmation she had been waiting and hoping for had come. He still loved her! He still wanted her. Sandrina couldn't help but giggle slightly at the words he continue with. It was a serious conversation of course, but the thought SHE might be perfect...she couldn't help but laugh. She was not perfect....but...yes, she might be in his eyes. She /was/ in his eyes, and that made her let out her own happy yet needy whine. A need so great it swept over her body in one fluid motion and made the bad go away.

At least as much as it could without leaving entirely.

"I love you," she whispered, half closing her eyes as she, for the first time in her life, made a decision solely by herself. "I want to stay here, with you and your father," she whispered.

The others would be fine. For all she knew they weren't even missing her all that much.

If at all.
