Battleground Selection!
Randomizer...start!

The screen towering above the stadiums' bleachers began to rotate clockwise to determine what field the pokemon would fight on. Anticipation began to build as the dial began to slow down...
Finally, it came to a complete stop.
The field of choice was....THE WATER FIELD!
Five large platforms float on the surface of the deep pool, four forming a diamond formation around the single platform in the center. While land pokemon can move around on this field, it was mainly built for water-types. Rules prevent the freezing of the water.

Battle....START!

The offical for the matched stepped up the plate, his blue-black uniform visual under the brilliant florenscent lights of the stadium. Clutching a flag in each hand, the young man glanced left and right before making the announcement to start. The deep voice echoed through the headset microphone and rang out from the stadium speakers.
"This is an offical stadium match! Each trainer may use only one pokemon each! There is no time limit! Are both trainers ready?"
At the confirming nods from both pokemon and trainer, he flicked both flags into the air; once both flags moved south, the battle could offically begin.

Since the computer had, though a random process, put her picture to the left on the screen, Evelyne was first to start. With her skitty Ayoka staying behind her this time, she took a deep breath then she advanced to her spot, feeling a bit shy when people clapped with enthousiasm. She rose her left arm to take a reduced pokeball from its magnetized hook on her armband, and pushed the button.

"Ok, go Charm!" she said, sending her pidgeotto in the air above the water battleground. 'That water ground won't bother him, at least. Let's see if our training paid off!' she thought.

Charm, as he was released onto the battle ground, gracefully dived and rose sharply up again, causing a small splash of water to appear with the speed of his flight. "Eh, should have called you Charmer..." whispered Evelyne, allowing herself a smile before she focused on nothing else but the battle to come.

Noah stepped up as the screen showed his face. He began to worry about Jed. Water Field...? I hope Jed is okay with it, this is our first battle, after all. Nervously, he pulled a Pokeball out of his cape, and pressed the large button in the center of the sphere. He loosened his hand as it expanded. He threw the Pokeball high up into the air, shadow barely visible over the dark water.

It didn't open. Just as the crowd started to cheer for the Pokemon soon to reveal himself, it plopped into the water. The crowd booed the young new trainer, who was obviously not experienced. Embarrassed, Noah quickly scurried over to pick out the ball. Luckily, it floated. Best luck I've had all day, he thought. He dried the sphere with his pants, careful not to put too much pressure on the button. This time, he'd just press it, so that wouldn't happen again. Why hadn't it reacted in the first place? Crowd complaining, he lifted the ball eye level (not very high, considering his age,) and slid his thumb over the center. He snapped his eyes wide open, and pressed his thumb so hard it instantly turned white. A bright-red light came shooting out - Noah wondered how this had worked for awhile- and formed Jed shape. Then, in the same, quick amount of time it took to form the Horse shape, the color came in, and solidified.

The red beam retracted. "Jed, err..." Noah took a moment to find out how Jed will fight on the Water Field, then noticed the platforms. "Step on the square directly in front of you..." he said, voice getting lower with every word. "I think..." he mumbled.
"Ponyta! Jed shouted, while forming a crescent shape with his mouth, that could be considered a smile. Jed stepped back - Noah did in alarm as well-, ran the small bit of space between him and the water, and galloped. I should be confident, like Jed. Noah felt inspired by him.
"Get ready!" he commanded, cracking a smile of anticipation.

Evelyne felt a bit of pity for the young trainer and the fire type pokemon, but then the handsome ponyta didn't seems all that bothered so she shrugged mentally. 'A battle is a battle. He knew this could happen.' With that thought, she looked up at Charm who was circling over the battleground.

"Charm, start with a sand-attack!" Charm lost a bit of is composure then, and looked back at her. "Well, I mean, a water-attack, then." She said, feeling a bit stupid. Charm got it right away though. He sped toward the ponyta, diving slightly and when he got close enough to the water and his foe, gave several great flaps of his wings. The surprisingly powerful wings splashed quite a nice deal of water toward the ponyta. Now what remained to be seen was if Charm would succeed in splashing his foe...

Jed shrieked in pain and almost fell off the platform after being hit by the splash. "Critical Hit!" the announcer shouted. The crowd was booming. Who wouldn't after a critical hit a the start. Crowd against him, Noah felt a bit discouraged, but still put a smile on his face. Not that he was happy. He just didn't want to be seen like a wimp. Well, more of wimp, after what had already happened. Seeing Jed hurt so badly already made his heart sink.

"Jed, try and burn him with a little Ember!" Jed opened his mouth slightly a the command, and sent a flame trickling from it's mouth to, hopefully, it's enemy. The major thing against them was speed. If the Pidgeotto was too fast...

Now there wasn't time anymore to feel sorry for her opponent. Despite the damage it had taken, the ponyta had recovered pretty quickly, from Evelyne's point of view.

As soon as the flames left the pokemon's mouth, she shouted:"Dive to dodge those and quick attack, Charm!". The pidgeotto, pretty confident in his speed, did wait a little too long to her liking before diving but he still managed to not get his feathers burned. Sighing with relief, Evelyne watched him drop at super-speed until he was level with the ponyta and then abruptly, with a great flap of wings, charge his foe. If 'Jed' wanted to evade that attack, he's have to react, and quick.

"Darn it - Jed! Switch platforms!" Noah commanded, hoping the move wouldn't drop Jed into the water. Jed screamed out energy, and, jumped onto the ring to the left. It had worked. But would there next attack be so successful?

"Jed! Fire Blast!" Once the command was spoken, Jed pulled his head forward, and spat flames out. "Hit, hit hit, hit..." Noah mumbled, hoping the chanting would help.

Evelyne couldn't believe it; the ponyta had jumped out of the way just in time. Charm reacted quickly to avoid hurting the other trainer, opening his wings to stop himself. Then he tried to fly right up but it was too late; the great fire blast hit him full force. The poor pidgeotto shrieked in pain. Evelyne could see smoke coming from him.

"Charm, calm down! Into the water then quick attack!" she shouted.

Charm quickly turned around to his right and, after going up a little, dived very quickly into the water and splashed out right away toward his foe, sending drops of water his way at the same time. 'Ponytas and pidgeottos are both fast pokemon... this is getting to be a contest of speed.' thought Evelyne. Her fingers crossed without her realising it.

The full-force attack slammed Jed onto another platform, back blown on first. Noah thought he heard a cracking sound, and dropped onto his knees when he did. Did Jed's back really break? Noah had to make sure nothing horribly bad had happened. "J-Jed, can you get up?" he asked in a soft voice, hoping to be heard over Jed's whining. Jed slowly kicked his legs up, and flipped up, wincing in pain.

Jed's legs wobbled as he stood. "Ponyta..." he whined. Noah had to make sure he didn't push Jed too hard, especially now.
"J-Jed, try to use Ember...But only if you can!" he added quickly. Jed spat a small burst of flame's out from his mouth, closing his eyes a bit in the process. The flame was a little off track, but it might still hit. Noah tried not to worry about that, and worry about Jed instead...

Charm seemed surprised by how powerful his attack had been. Unsure of himself, he looked back at Evelyne, who was wide eyed, looking at the ponyta and at his trainer. The boy seemed devastated. Evelyne didn't think the ponyta was in danger, but this situation distracted both her and Charm, who wasn't able to dodge the flames that hit him straight into his chest. Snapping out of it, Evelyne quickly said:"Gust, now!"

Charm flapped quickly his wings, creating a small gust he sent toward the injured ponyta. This also instinguished some flames, avoiding him some more damage.

The huge gust of wind hit Ponyta and knocked him half off the platform. "Gyaaah!" Jed grimaced in pain. Noah stood up in reaction.
"Jed, do you still wanna fight?" he asked. Jed, hearing the question and - astonishingly to Noah - seemingly fully understanding the question, twirled his legs up and pulled himself up again. Talk about determination and willpower... Noah though, seeing him pulling through, even though he knew it was hopeless.

Was it hopeless? No! They still ha a chance! A small one, but one none-the-less. "Jed, we still have a chance! Use Flame Blast!" Noah commanded, no doubt in his mind Jed wouldn't try his hardest to follow this command.
"Gyaargh!" Jed let out a painful roar as a huge flame spat out in the shape of the enemy. Perfect! We can still do this!

This time Charm was badly hurt by the fire attack. The bird shrieked and dived once more in the water. Then he let got about one feet above the water, opening his wings to stay in place. Evelyne knew he had taken a lot of damage with this last attack, but she also knew that they could probably end this battle soon, if Charm didn't miss.

"Ok, try gust again, Charm!" she said when she thought her pokemon was ready to attack. Charm send another gust mixed with some water toward his foe.

Jed was almost knocked into the water, before Noah returned him with a red flash. Embarrassed, he quickly ran away to the exit. Before he did, he stopped in front of the sign, and said, "Erm, good match..." he looked away, and exited. What a horrible match.

[Sorry for the ant-climatic ending. Couldn't think of anything. xD]
