 Summer had long since passed. Leaves littered the green grass, and a cool breeze carried whisper of change throughout the lands. Wouldn't the harvest begin soon? Maybe it had begun already. One thing hadn't changed, Vasu' and his desire to well..sneak off from his family.
He laid in a patch almost rid of grass, his coat dotted with small clouds of dust. Watching nothing in particular, and having no set plans on what to do next. He was just relaxing, warming the earth beneath his heavy body. His head was upright, sniffing at the wind that played with the ends of his hair.
These were the days. It wasn't too hot, and exhaustion was no longer a threat on the time spent romping about. Vasu' knew nothing of the winters to come, nor did he pay it any mind right now. Why should he? He was enjoying himself, lost in one of his favorite pastimes.
With a kick in the air, he flopped to his back, thrashing around on the ground like an over turned sea turtle. Only for a moment though, before righting himself back, hooves tucked where they landed.
Taking a deep breath, he rose from the ground lazily, one hoof after the other. He had had his fill. He shook his body with a little jiggle, to loosen some of the earth that clung to his coat.
Where to now?

 A blur of color passed in the not-so-far distance. A young filly was chasing a few crows across the field. Her coat shimmered in the sun just like the feathers on the crows, who had obviously grown tired of their game of cat-and-mouse, and took off into the late afternoon sky. She watched after them with a flutter of disappointment in her chest, but she just rolled her shoulders and turned back. What to do now?
She looked over the field and found another Soquili, so with a smile and shake of her mane she trotted over. “Hello!” she called, curving her long neck in just the way that made her look girlish and mature at the same time.

Vasu darted his head to the side, his ears ringing with the sound of a young mares voice. His eyes were wide, and his lips spread sligtly open when he saw it was in fact, a mare. His face was silly.
"Hi!" he shouted a return greeting, as a smile broke wide across his face. His feet danced a bit before taking off. He would meet her halfway. His trot was easy and he met her with little loss of breath. He stopped and grinned, he couldn't possibly show more teeth if he had tried. After a second, his lips relaxed, but the deep smile remained. "How are you?" He bowed his chin, and threw his mane a bit.
Wow, she's pretty was his first thought. He was like his father in more ways than he liked to admit. He couldn't help but look her over from head to hoof. Her brilliant medley of color was stunning.

Dahlia returned his smile as he approached, and even though she knew he was looking her over, she couldn’t help but shake out her mane a bit, to catch the sun just right. She was very young, but definitely not a filly anymore.
”Nice to meet you,” she said, her ears forward and at attention. “My name’s Dahlia. Nice day today, isn’t it?”

Vasu's eyes filled with the color of her mane as she flipped it about. He suddenly had the urge to chew on it, and cursed his parents for that. He however, would not give into the urge. The thought made his mind laugh at the possible outcome.
He nodded. "Dahlia, I am Vasu, and the pleasure is all mine." he grinned. Of course it was a nice day, now that she was entertaining him with her presence. "You know what, it is a nice day." he shrugged. "Simply, I couldn't imagine it getting any better."
He tried to keep the conversation going. "So...what are you up to?"

“Oh me?” Dahlia gave a wind chime-esque chuckle. “Nothing much, just playing with the crows.” She watched them flying away in the distance, their caws growing faint. “I think they done playing with me, though!”
She came a step closer, looking Vasu over with a curiosity, as if trying to size him up as a potential companion. “I’m from the mountains and my parents are Xandir and Sequoyah.” When she met Aureate, he made a point to introduce his parents, so Dahlia had picked up that trait as well, thinking it a proper greeting… Aureate did seem like a proper stallion.

"Well, that's the crows loss then." he teased playfully.
His eyes shifted as she took one step closer. Is she checking me out? A twinkle dotted his eye at the thought of a 'Heck yes!'. He straightened himself, flicking his tail to the side as he did. He wasn't pompus enough to puff his chest out and prance about like his dad.
"I have not met your parents before. My parents are Hok'ee and Chu'mana." He thought it odd at the mention of parents, but returned the gesture anyways. "We are from the plains nearby." He hoped his family wasn't near at the moment though. A tight nit family could be a nuisance on occasion.

“I haven’t met your parents either, but they sound nice,” she said politely. “I don’t know many Soquili, just from my herd. My parents can be really strict sometime.” She tossed her mane again and looked over the plains. “Want to do anything? My parents won’t start to get worried about me for at least a few more hours,” she said with a playful wink and eager tap of her hoof on the ground. “What kind of things do you do for fun?”

"Now that you mention it, I don't know that many either." He shrugged. "It doesn't bother me."
What do I want to do?... I want to chew on that hair.. His mind was very vocal. His eyes followed the length of her mane down to her ankles. It almost touched the ground, and could if she wanted it too, he was sure. Her tail after all, did casually touch the ground.
His train of thought was broke as he tilted his head in slight bewilderment. "Nosoquili has ever asked me what I like to do.." Nor had he ever told anyone. His eyes cut to the left, as he searched his mind for an answer. He thought of the hard ground beneath his coat and shrugged.
He grinned. "I could show you." What was he afraid of anyways? It was a secret, but not really because it had to be. It was anyones easy guess, as to what he did with his time. No doubt, it wasn't as secret as he thought it to be.

Dahlia tilted her head ever-so-slightly as he got lost for a moment in his own thoughts, staring at her mane. But her eager and hopeful expression didn’t change at all. “No one’s ever asked what you like? So strange!” But before she continued on that train of thought, he spoke again, offering to show her something.
Her eyes immediately lit up with curiosity. “Okay!’ she said with a little hoof stamp of approval.

He gathered himself, and sort of pranced in place. "Alright! We must travel first!" he exclaimed before bolting on the ground, being sure to note whether or not she would follow his run.
He was throughly excited, and would only take her to a farther spot than the one he was just at. He bounded here and there, craning his neck to watch Dahlia with a grin on his face. His neck bobbed to the beat of his hooves.
A small hill pulled into view. It was close to his intended destination.

Dahlia watched him sprint off for just a moment before giving a whinny of approval. She reared up and followed after him. She was truly beautiful when she ran, her muscles making the rainbow pattern of her coat seem to ripple in the sunlight, and her long mane trailing after her like a banner. She had a bit of a lope to her gate, as her young body hadn’t quite grown into her long legs, but she had a very little trouble keeping Vasu in view as she ran after him, loving the feel of the wind in her face.

Vasu padded his way up the hill quickly. Only to stop at it's highest rise, to peer towards Dahlia, before continuing to the other side. He trailed down the slope at an easy pace, letting the slanted earth aid in his momentum.
Here we go.. he paused abruptly and spun on his back legs, neighing at his arrival and then dropping his front legs back to the ground. His nostrils flared as he waited momentarily for her to stop.
The place around them, held no special beauty. Only a sparse patch of clover in a dusty patch of fine dirt, that seemed to barely touch the hills grass. A few dandelions grew around it's edge, and was the current work place of some busy bee's.

Dahlia conquered the hill easily; her legs used to the arduous mountain climbing since her herd resided so far up the side of the mountains. But she followed dutifully after Vasu, catching up with him on the downslope and walking side by side.
She stopped at his declaration, her eyes alive with curiosity. They must have arrived! Undaunted, her eyes darted from Vasu to the landscape, waiting for the big thing, obviously expecting something more to happen.

He peered intentfully at the ground below. "Well.." he laughed at himself, suddenly feeling silly, but without shame. "..it might not be much.." He almost leaped into the dirt. He then shrugged and fell to the ground with a thud. An almost foal-like quality came over his face, as he rolled once then stopped, looking up at her. A couple of the bee's changed flowers, but didn't seem bothered enough to float away.
He had the biggest grin, accompanied by a glaze in his eyes. He said nothing else, but rather waited for her reaction. She'd either laugh at him, or well....she'd laugh at him. He didn't think much further than that, and was pretty much carefree at the moment.
