Shikoba somehow found himself once again at his and Aishwarya's meeting place. Ever since their last meeting, he hadn't been able to keep her off his mind. Now that they knew that they both felt the same about each other, he felt they could be more open in their relationship, and he also wanted to be close to her more and more.
At their last parting, he had said that they might meet here again soon. So here he was, hoping that she would show up. His stomach was boiling with expectations.

Aishwarya hiccuped, feeling a little nauseous as she ambled along. She wasnt completely 100% positive about her current..condition but she could hazard a guess, especially given the 'private' time she and Shikoba had been spending together after the confession of their feelings for one another.
That and the sick feeling and the weight gain around her middle, coupled with a craving for some very strange foods had led her to realise she needed to find Shikoba and have what could be a difficult talk with him. It was one thing to express a desire to have a family, but to actually confront him with the news that she thought she was pregnant..that was a different thing altogether.
So here she was. At the lakeside once more. A cursory glance revealed a very familiar presence and she smiled at seeing Shikoba, before clipping slowly over to him.

As he lay there beside the lake, Shikoba heard the distinct sound of hooves and turned his head to see who it was. His heart leaped as he saw Aishwarya. Getting to his feet, he turned to face her, and immediately noticed that something was different about her. Was she gaining weight? Well, best not to mention that. He had heard that mares can be touchy about their weight.
He trotted over to meet her and nuzzled her nose.
"I'm glad you came. I wasn't sure if you'd come today, or if I'd have to wait another day to see you again."

Aishwarya smiled again, gratified at the sweet greeting that Shikoba had given her. Maybe it wouldnt be so difficult to tell him. Maybe. She brushed her soft mouth against his nose in return, lipping it gently and swished her tail in slow motion.
'Well I missed you..' she began, which was true, she had missed his company.
'So I decided to take a chance and swing by here. Your are well?' he looked well but she was stalling just a touch.

"I missed you, too."
He smiled as she nipped at his nose, tickling it a bit.
"Yes, I'm very well, especially now that you're here. Are you doing ok? You look a little...."
He stopped here, and thought about the things he had been told about mares. They can be very touchy, apparently, and about the strangest things. So he didn't want to say that she looked bad but....she didn't look well.
"...a little, uhm, not well. Are you sick?"

'I look a little?' Aishwarya hadnt thought she looked much different, except for the slightly rounder belly. But obviously she did look different.
She tilted her head, her hair falling into her eyes, and she shook it away.
'I'm not actually sick..' she started.
'Well not in a having an illness way.'
Oh goodness. She was going to have to tell him already.
'Shikoba.' she let out a long breath after saying his name.
'I think..I think I'm pregnant.' she said, falling silent afterwards.

Shikoba tilted his head and became a little worried as she struggled to get out what she was trying to say. When she said she was sick, but somehow wasn't sick, it really threw him for a loop, and he became throughly confused.
But then it came out and it was all very clear. He didn't say anything for a moment. He stared at her, his mouth hanging open, a bit in shock. Slowly, his gaze moved to her belly, which was bigger, and now her knew why. Slowly, his mouth formed a smile, and it kept growing as he brought his eyes back to meet Aish's.
"Pregnant?! So...you're going to...we're....I'm going to be....we're having kids?!"
He rushed at her, wrapping his neck around hers. He closed his eyes, smelling her hair, but suddenly pulled back away from her.
"I'm sorry...are you ok? I mean....you've got to be careful, right?"

When Shikoba didnt say anything right away, Aishwarya felt a little faint. She was an intelligent mare, but she really didnt want to think about having to one day explain to her children that their father left them.
But when he smiled, the blood rushed back to her head and she broke into a smile of relief, nodding at his stammered sentence. She nestled against Shikoba but had to laugh when he broke away and expressed such concerns.
'I'm fine, really I am. I dont have to do anything different really, just make sure I eat enough, and get rest when I need it.'
Her tail swished along the ground.
'I'm, well I'm glad you are happy about this.' she confessed.

Shikoba couldn't keep the smile off of his face. His gaze kept moving from Aishwarya's beautiful eyes, to her bulging stomach. He was so happy, he couldn't find the words to explain it.
"I am happy. You're happy, too, right?"
It suddenly hit him that she might not have wanted this. Maybe she had wanted to wait. Maybe she didn't want a family at all...

Well, either someone had slipped Shikoba something of an intoxicating nature, or he was truly happy about the news because he didnt seem to be able to stop smiling.
She giggled a little, her hair slipping into her eyes and when she flicked it back the bangles on her legs jingled.
'I am, I mean I think it's very soon, but I know I want this and I am happy about it.'
She let out a long pent up breath and shifted her weight where she stood.
'So have you been up to anything exciting since I last saw you?'

Shikoba shook his head, a wide smile still on his face.
"No, not much, really. What about you? I mean...when did you find out?"
She was obviously trying to move on from the subject of her having children soon, but he couldn't get it off his mind, so he just kept down that path.
"Maybe we should go eat, since you're supposed to be eating more, right"

'Days only really, I sort of had an inkling something was different, I spoke to a mare I know that is a mother twice over and she suggested I might be.' Aishwarya chuckled.
'I didnt think so though, not until I started feeling sort of sick but still feeling really hungry did I start to believe.'
She bumped her nose against Shikoba's side.
'Are you going to worry throughout the whole pregnancy? I grazed before I came here, if I eat anymore I shall go bang.'

Shikoba grinned. Was he going to be worried? Yeah, probably. I mean, who wouldn't be? Here she was, walking around with probably more than one little baby growing inside of her.
"I don't understand how you're not more worried. I mean...you have babies inside of you! If I were you, I'd be freaking out. Like, do they feel it when you walk? And if they do, then I wouldn't want to run, because I'm sure they'd get tossed around in there. And when you lay down, you have to do it right so you don't squash them, right? And so many other things to be careful about!"
As he listened to himself, it did sounds like he was going a bit overboard, but he had never been in this kind of situation and was very nervous. He didn't want to be excited about starting a family with Aishwarya, and then have something happen to the children before they were born...

Aishwarya listened quietly and then dissolved in giggles.
'You're so funny,' she teased a little, bumping him with her nose.
'Soquili's have been having babies since we began, I am able to do pretty much everything I did before, I will just be a little more careful about how I go. And I don't think I have ever heard of foals getting squashed in the womb from when their mother's laid down.'
She regained her composure and smiled sweetly at Shikoba.
'The only thing I am dreading is when I get very heavy, and then the labour. The mare I spoke to said it was quite painful, and I think she was under playing it so as not to panic me..'

Shikoba was surprised at how lightly she was taking this. Perhaps it was just a mother's instinct. Maybe mares just knew how to deal with having babies, and they knew not to panic and get too worried. But then she said that it was going to hurt, and that brought more worries to his mind.
"It'll hurt you?! Why? I mean...its supposed to be a good thing, having children, right? So why would it hurt?"
To Aishwarya, or indeed any other soquili, Shikoba probably sounded very foolish. He was just so worried about anything that might go wrong. He was very excited to be starting a family, but perhaps they would wait a while before having more children, it it was going to worry him so much.
