Far as ive sen in the job through the games their elemental like dances have a good chance of failing and their not very good fighters. They arent really buffers at all, unless SE decideds to seriously tweak it.

well in FF Tactics (I don't know any other ff game with the dancer job - be glad if anyone could fill me in) they are aoe enfeebs - so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for SE to make them into buffers.
(incidentally, Dancer is a mirror to Bard in Tactics which is a buffer job while dancer is the enfeeb job smile )

I've heard that they might make the dancer similar to Ragnarok Online. Basically, a bard and dancer can do combinations skills.

In RO:

Bard buffs:
Unchained Serenade - Continually inflicts Neutral property, Area of Effect damage that pierces the Defense of enemies within its range.
Unbarring Octave - Freeze monsters within caster`s view
Song of Lutie - Area around the caster that will increase the Max HP of characters within its range.
Perfect Tablature - Area around the caster that increases the Flee and Perfect Dodge Rates of characters within its range.
Magic Strings - Area around the caster that reduces Cast Time and Skill Delay for characters within range.
etc...

Dancer buffs:
Dazzler - Stun all enemies in view by a probability rate affected by this skill`s level.
Focus Ballet - area around the caster that increases the Accuracy for characters within range.
Gypsy`s Kiss - area around the caster that increases Max SP and reduces SP consumption for characters within its range (SP is like MP in RO)
Hip Shaker - area around the caster that continually drains SP from enemies within its range. Hip Shaker immediately drains SP from enemies upon casting, and will drain SP every 3 seconds while active
Lady Luck - area around the caster that will increase Critical attack rate within its range
etc...

Now... the interesting part is this.. Bards and Dancers had Ensemble skills, where you'd combine a dance and song together for even stronger buffs. Here are some examples.

Bard & Dancer Combos:
Power Cord - Area around the casters that nullifies item costs, such as Gemstones and Traps, for most skills.
Mental Sensing - Area around the casters that increases EXP rewarded to characters and creatures within range.
Lullaby - area around the casters that will inflict the Sleep status to enemies
Harmonic Lick - area around the casters that will amplify the damage of Weapons for Party Members within range.
Down Tempo - area around the casters where the Defense of all enemies within range is reduced to 0
Classical Pluck - area around the casters where all skills and magic are disabled for the skill's 60 second duration. Boss monsters are unaffected by the Classical Pluck skill.
etc...

I don't know if they would completely copy this idea, ya know? But it is a possibility.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Once I get so see one in action and/or play one then I'll decide. The af is pretty though.

Is it just me or is Square Enix running out of ideas?

IMAGINE IT! It'll be the best thing that comes out of FFXI rofl . Think about it, A Galka with that red AF armor to dance. It'll be the best dance you have ever seen!

Ok back on topic... I also heard there was going to be a scholar? O.o I don't know how that'll go but I hope it is good.

It sounds like this will turn out to be an interesting job. Maybe it will be a good sub for BRD or something.
