Jasiri'ka frowned as he pounced at a grasshopper... Or rather, the grasshopper that he had been chasing after for a long time now. It all started as a little game, created out of boredom by the wandering rouge. However, it had since became more of a hunt for him, his determination to catch the bug increasing with each passing second. He won't kill the little green thing, of course, but still, he wishes to capture it. There was a mild satisfaction is doing that.
"Grasshopper! Wait for Jasiri!"
The insect ignored the young lion, leaping away into a nearby bush, vanishing from sight. The adolescent let out an 'Aw...' before flopping down on the ground, exhausted from the wild grasshopper chase. It was then he realized that his surroundings were unfamiliar, even more so than when he was wandering around. He had never been to this part of the Pridelands before... How was he supposed to find his lost parents, when he kept losing his own way? The male stood up, sniffing the air.
"Jasiri thinks that he is lost again... Near a pride... Father's pride?"
His tail wagged a little as his thoughts turned to his father; a good and strong lion, just like his mother had described when he was still a cub. Could this be the one that he had been looking for? If this was father's Pride, it would mean the end of his search! The end of lonely days spent wandering around by himself! More adventures! More fun times!

Another day, another episode of fleeing the mass of cubs that had taken over her den practically overnight. She had idly considered finding her own place to live (close by, of course), just to be able to spend some time at home relaxing and not being bothered by one cub or another every five minutes. But when it really came down to it, she really just couldn't stand the idea of leaving the safety and company of her family to be on her own. She needed companionship; without it, she felt very sad and alone. She hated the thought of being on her own so much that she suffered through all the harrassment six young cubs could dish out.
Wandering through the grasses, just outside the borders of the Kusini lands (as far as she ever wandered), the young female yawned. The cubs had had her up almost at dawn today, and then they had refused to let her go back to sleep, so she had eventually made a hasty retreat. The poor girl had been wandering ever since, because she could never bring herself to sleep out in the open; just one of her odd little quirks. The only speck of light on her horizon was the knowledge that the cubs tired themslves out during the day and usually fell asleep pretty early.
Flicking one of her ears, Amani's ruby eyes scanned the distance, really only for the sake of knowing what was out there within her range of sight, not for any true curiosirty. But she cought a flash of orange that stood out just a little bit, and swivelling her eyes back toward it, she found it to be a lion. Perhaps a rogue seeking to join the pride? A lot seemed to do that. With her head tilted, she took a few more steps forward. "Hello?"

The adolescent was just musing to himself about his next step, when he heard a voice calling out to him. At first, he dismissed it as a mere product of his imagination; being a lone wanderer means that he had very little interaction with other creatures. The random lion, wild dog, or even cheetah that he had met in his travels were more of acquaintances, although the sole meeting was enough for Jasiri'ka to see them as a friend.
Still, he longed for someone permanent to talk to.
It was by chance that he had looked up, and saw the lioness within what he had assumed to be 'Pride territory'. Was she part of this pride? If so, there was a chance that she might know his father... Well, if his father was part of this pride. Jasiri'ka leaped forward in excitement, shaking the dust that had gathered on his fur off it. He bounded towards the female, stopping right in front of her, his whole body seemed to radiate happiness. Does he ever run out of energy?
"Hello!" He returned the greeting, before blinking and tilting his head to one side as he studied the lioness in front of him. This female must be about his age... Maybe they could play a game later on! He tilted his head back to its original position before he continued his introduction, tail swinging side to side happily, "Jasiri is Jasiri'ka... What's your name?"

Amani was a little bit surprised by just how lively this male seemed to be. Sure, having energy was a good thing, but Jasiri seemed more... cub-like than energetic, in her view. Perhaps, though, she just thought that way because of the sheerly enormous amounts of younger siblings she now found herself faced with. Still, the resemblance made her just a tiny bit less enthusiastic about this meeting, though she kept such thoughts away from her expression, instead pulling a friendly smile on her face. But in the interests of making new friends and relieving herself of the loneliess, she would look passed this quality Jasiri had.
That, however, was when she heard his unusual way of speaking, and it set her back just a bit. He referred to himself... well, wrongly, as far as she could tell. He referred to himself by name, instead of using 'I' or 'me', and it made the adolescent's head tilt just a little bit more. She'd never heard that kind of speaking before, but though it initially threw her just a little bit off balance, she was determined not to let it affect whatever friendship she could find with Jasiri'ka. It was a rather small quirk, far too pathetically small to allow to get in the way. "I'm Amani," she replied, with all the cheerfulness that she was known for. "Are you new to the area?"
She had never seen Jasiri anywhere in the pride lands before, so it was a safe assumption that he was rogue. Or, just possibly, a new addition she'd yet to meet. Either way, if he was willing to answer her question, she would know very soon.

"It's nice to meet you, Amani! And yes, Jasiri is new here, having just arrived from... That direction," The male replied, giving a quick nod over his shoulder, his tail movements were slowing down but still seem to serve as an outlet for his abundant energy. He stopped, musing out loud, "May Jasiri know where this is? Jasiri had never been to these parts..."
Looking from the female to the background and back to the female again, the young lion's disposition suddenly became a little more serious, something the adolescent hardly ever display. Pausing, Jasiri'ka mused to himself, wondering how he should ask the question... Will it seem too direct? Will she feel upset about his sudden question? He frowned a little, pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind before flashing a smile at Amani, the edges of his mouth twitching upwards in an arch.
Well, first things first.
"Jasiri was wondering if... There is a lion that looks like Jasiri in the pride?" The male asked hopefully, his voice held signs of wistfulness and longing. His voice trailed away, like he was recalling something, and his eyes seemed to fog over. Only something like this will dampen his mood... How he wish his quest could end soon! As the spark returned to his eyes, Jasiri'ka continued softly, "A lion... A hunter with a mainly orange pelt like Jasiri, and a black mane."

Ah, so she had been right in thinking Jasiri to be a rogue. While the Kusini had enough members to be able to live quite comfortably in the lands and not know every one of the members, most would be glimpsed at one point or another, even if only from a distance. And she just could not remember seeing any flashes of orange around the pride lands before today. Most of the colours here were neutral browns and creams, except when lions like her mother, Nyunya, with all her pink, or her grandfather, Uumikaji, with all his vibrant red, decided to take up residence and add their genes. But even though there was pink and red, and even some purple somewhere, she was sure she'd seen, there was no orange wandering around so far as she could tell.
"Ah, these are the Kusini'Mwezi lands. We're quite a large pride." Well, that was the understatement of the century. Just her own family, the direct line of it, was innumerable. Her great-grandparents were at the root of it all, with an incredible amount of cubs to their name. And, of course, those cubs have grown and some have their own families. Her father's mother, one of those cubs, had had twelve cubs in total so far, he being the oldest, and her father himself had ten. Such a vast number of family members in one place. She could spend her entire life meeting them all and still have others to go, she imagined. After all, her family stretched quite far into the Pridelands as well. A ceaseless number. But her thoughts were starting to get off track, and with some difficulty, she pulled her attention back to where it was supposed to be.
Amani had to focus and remember what Jasiri had said before she could supply him with an answer, and it made her frown. It brought her back to thinking that she had never seen anyone who looked like Jasiri wandering around. "I haven't seen anyone who looks like you... I'm sorry." She realised, however, that this would most likely put out that spark in Jasiri's eyes again, and she sought to try and give him a little bit of hope. "But that doesn't necessarily mean he's not here, of course. I've lived here all my life, and I know I haven't met everyone yet. We're... a really big pride. Really big. The boundaries are vast, and there are so many members..."

"Hm? No need to say sorry," Jasiri'ka replied, pouting a little as he was taken aback by the female's apology. He was clearly upset over the answer given to him, but he was not depressed, at least, that was not what he was showing on his face. He had searched for far too long to be too saddened by just one minor setback; for one, he was sure that they'll meet again somewhere! Well, sooner or later they would... For now, the search must go on. He blinked at the description of the pride, and his eyes widened, amazed at the sheer size of it.
"Kusini'Mwezi lands... The pride is that big? Must be nice to be surrounded by others... Jasiri had never been surrounded by others before."
He tilted his head to a side, and looked at the pride territory. As a rouge, he sometimes wondered if he'll ever settle down someday, or will he continue to wonder the lands? Somehow, he felt that he had the urge to travel around, feeling insecure if he stayed at one place for too long... As clueless as he appears to be, he does wonder about more 'adult' things, and he decision was to wonder around... Hopefully with a companion. Wondering about must be in his blood, seeing that his mother was a rouge.
His thoughts went back to the matter at hand, and he started to think to himself as various questions flashed in his head. If it was that big, maybe his father was somewhere inside... Or maybe someone could tell him if they had seen his father pass by the pride, or if anyone knew his father and where he is. For a moment, his hopes were raised again, and he nodded at Amani.
"If it's that big... Is it okay if you take Jasiri in? Jasiri wishes to ask around for Jasiri's daddy."

Amani glanced over her shoulder, looking out across the invisible boundary line that separated the Kusini'Mwezi pride territory from the vastness of the rogue lands. Sometimes she wondered just what was out there, away from home, but she was so attached to where she lived that simple curiosity would probably never uproot her. She couldn't see herself ever leaving where she lived; she loved it here, with the security it offered, and with family all around. It was a nice place to live and grow up.
"Um... sure I can," she replied, turning back to Jasiri. After all, it wouldn't hurt to let him look around, would it? He seemed so determined to find his father, after all, that he would likely leave as soon as he confirmed he wasn't in the pride. And if he was and she had just never seen him, she would have successfully reunited a family, and that would be good as well.
She turned away from Jasiri, taking a few steps back into Kusini, looking back at the male. "Follow me, Jasiri. I'll take you inside. Though... the lands are so big that I don't really know where you should start looking first. The lions here could be anywhere."
