Has anyone else read anything by Jim Butcher? Do you know if he's done anything besides the Dresden Files or the Codex Alaera series?
How do you think the Dresden books compare to the series that was on Sci-Fi?

I've only heard of the Dreshen files by him. I haven't seen the Sci Fi series but might watch it at some point, just might buy it used just in case it sucks. I've got 6 of the Dreshen Files books, hopefully will get them all. The series is pretty good, not sure how it go also together, it would be funny if he ends up on the Council.

I enjoyed the Dresden Files on television, but found it quite different from the books. I don't want to post any comparisons yet for fear of giving out spoliers. I think the spirit of both was the same, however, and I liked them both, just for different reasons.

There are betrayals and double-crosses and deep, dark secrets revealed.

He's written a Dresden Files comic book! I've going to have to find this, since it's supposed to be an original story, and no just a re-hash of one of the novels.

I haven't looked into the Codex Alaera yet (mostly because the first one is always checked out at my library) but I've both read all the Dresden Files books and watched the series on Sci-Fi. I liked the books a lot better, but as far as television goes the series was serviceable.

You may have to put your name on a waiting list for Furies of Calderon, since the next Codex Alera book just came out a few months ago. I'm halfway though Princeps' Fury right now.

My older sister got Princep's Fury for Christmas, which she still hasn't finished reading--and she won't let me read it until she's done. crying I'm about ready to go out and get my own copy of it.

It was good--but so obviously not the end of the series. Didn't end on a cliffhanger, but All Is Not Well. crying

I found Dresden Files interesting, but it smells pretty heavily of First Series Ever Written by that author. You can tell his skill is increasing with each book, but by the time Turn Coat has rolled around, he's really written himself into something of a corner. They're fun to read, but really pulpy, so to speak.

But the pulpy aspect is why I started reading them in the first place! It's really hard to find interesting mysteries with a fantasy or science-fiction element.
