St. Vitus was one of the first and greatest traditional Doom bands ever. And has acted as in inspiration for countless others. Together with giants like Candlemass, they belong to the main bands representing Doom in the 80s, spawning countless bands in their wake (both Doom-metal and Stoner-rock). Influenced by Black Sabbath, they created some ultra slow and heavy albums that dragged themselves forward at an almost uncomfortably slow pace. A piece of Doomy history that one should hear at least once.
I have recently changed my opinion about the Reager's era (especially the early stuff before Wino), I think that I now like it more than the Wino era. Although Born Too Late is still my favorite album.

I'm kinda torn between which era I like best. The S/T is great and Reager's voice is superb, I don't think songs like Burial At Sea could have done any better with someone else and even th stuff on Die Healing is great. And then you have the Wino era where he seems to be talking about personal issues on some songs and you can hear the emotional power behind his voice. I'm kinda nervous to check out the album with Christian on vocals, I didn't like him in Count Raven, so yeah, I'm still holding back on that.
But really, Vitus wouldn't be anything without Dave Chandler on guitar, they would not have left such a huge impact on the metal world without his sinster, heavy riffs on each album. He's the sole reason why Saint Vitus is what it is today.

I haven't heard COD either, although I'm not really worried about Christian.
If you don't like Christian, then what are you going to do about Lord Vicar then?

I don't know, I guess I'll give it a chance, but I've never heard a vocalist that genuinely annoyed me until I heard True Revelation by Count Raven.

Actually, I don't think you'll have a problem with it. It actually kinda sounds like a mixture of Reagers and Wino.
