Ushu hummed softly to himself as he padded towards the watering hole, his pale paws touching down lightly. Brown tail swished the air in a rythmn that matched his hum, and an aura almost of content surrounded him. Today was one of his better days... he didn't feel as restless, and was as happy as he should be, living in such a soft, friendly place.
The wind rustled his mane, grown out in his adulthood, and it fluffled out lightly. He was rather proud of that feature... it was one of many he was proud of, actually. Å small smile curled over his maw, and his pace picked up, betraying his eagerness to get to the water and soothing relief for this throat. It was a warm day, and a cool drink would put a cap on an otherwise lovely day.

Chocolate toes spread out as the lioness stretched, a yawn escaping. As she walked towards the water, she noticed a familiar form, familiar brown hair. But the last time she'd seen it was... She'd been a lot smaller, that was for sure. Older now, she couldn't help but admire it, as well as the carmel markings. A smile on her maw, Mut'salama went down to the water.

Ushu was intent on his drink, ignoring his surroundings for the moment to crouch before the water and lower his head to it. After all, what would bother an adult lion like him? Big, strong, confident... on his home turf.
The water slid like silk down his throat, soothing and cooling him. Today was like any other day... and truly, he was more restless than his pose suggested. Today was one of his better days, but still, he felt the need to move on, to change the scenery around him.
Its what had prompted his trip down to the watering hole, hoping to find some solace in its cool waters. A sigh slipped free as he settled back on his haunches, his tail gently moving over the dirt. It was better now, though still not good. Maybe once he rested a little, perhaps he'd go and circle around the border... that would take him a while, give him something to do.

If only she could say she walked down to the water gracefully. A root she didn't see caught her foot, sending her tumbling the rest of the way. With a splash, she came to a stop in the water, ears down and rivulets sliding down her face.
Shaking herself out, she climbed free. It was far too early for a swim... She sighed, settling to grooming herself. In her stumble, she'd forgotten all about Ushukuru even being there. Instead, her mind focused on cleaning the water off.

The suddenly appearance of a tumbling form and a fountain of water took Ushu by surprise, and he stumbled up and back to escape the deluge of water. His ears pressed back into the fluff of his mane as red eyes searched irritably for the source, a curling of his lips the beginning of a snarl. Stupid whoever it was... clumsy oaf...
All annoyance vanished in an instant though as a vision stepped up from the water and shook it from her peach coat. For a moment, Ushu blinked rather stupidly at the pretty lioness, wondering for a moment if a goddess had landed at his feet... till that thought brought him to Nix and he dismissed the thought. This lioness was nothing like Nix, sad to say, and nothing even like Ukali, the god he'd met as a cub. She lacked the.... aura that those two had had, so she must be in fact a mortal female. Shaking his head to clear mane from his eyes, he let his face easy into a smile of greeting and took a second look at her, trying to place what it was about her that was so familiar. He would swear he'd met her before...
Then he saw her groom and the pieces lined up. Mut, that was it... he'd met her when she was still only a juvenile, and he an adolescent. She'd certainly grown up into a most lovely adult. Stepping forward, he bowed his head in a gallant bow.
"Mut! I only recognize you because you step from the watering hole as you did when I first met you... anywhere else, and I'd have missed it for sure, you've grown so much..." He laughed as he came back to stand by the water, his creamy toes just short of getting wet and his caramel tail swaying behind him. "Its good to see you again."

Light blue eyes looked up in surprise, meeting red. Blinking, the lioness shifted. "Oh... Um... Ushukuru!" She smiled, tail curling. Yes, she HAD grown. Age had given her grace and a well-built body, though time hadn't improved her hunting. She was still a flop at it. "You've grown, too!" Indeed, the full mane was very becoming of him, framing his face perfectly. She shook out her coat a bit more, making certain it was dry. "Wasn't expecting to get a bath like this..."

Ushu laughed softly as he watched her shake off, almost self-conciously shaking his mane back from his face. It was only times like this that he actually became aware of the weight of it around his neck, the thickness that trapped heat. Normally, he didn't even think about it, but seeing Mut grown reminded him of his own growth, and the restless he'd been feeling.
"Well, it is rather warm out today. Maybe you have the right idea after all. A cooling dip in the watering hole." Following his impulse he gathered himself and sprang forward into the water, feeling it splash up his sides as he landed belly-deep in it. He bounced a little further, making sure to really flail around so the water splashed high, and mostly in Mut's direction.
He knew what he was doing, as his mischevious smile showed, and he came to a stop a little farthere out where the water level was almost to his neck, lapping at his tan sides.
"Ah yes... this is very nice." He chuckled.

Wiggling, the lioness squealed as she was splashed. A grin lit up her face before she followed, landing in the water with him. Chocolate-dipped paws flashed a bit before smacking the water, sending a splash at Ushu. Tail curling in the water, she swam around. Behind her, the hair tipping her tail fanned out and seemed to dance. Ah, there was nothing like swimming!

Ushud ducked and darted back as she splashed at him, thrashing a paw to send water fountaining back at her. "Hey!" He laughed, the water wetting down his mane till it hung in his face and down his neck. It wasn't nearly so fluffy and large when it was wet.
He watched her with warm eyes as she swam about, enjoying the view even if he felt no need to actually do the same. He was much more comfortable with his paws firmly on the ground, even if the water was washing up around his back. He'd leave the actual swimming to Mut, since she seemed to like it.

Finally, she climbed out of the water, shaking water everywhere. Blue eyes looked back, almost teasing Ushu. As a breeze shifted by, a few butterflies danced by, caught in their own games of the season. The wet lions were of no concern to them, they had their own things to do.
Suddenly, the lioness crouched, tail curling over her head. "Hey, I'll race you to that tree!" She nodded towards it, a grin on her face. A split second later, she had turned and gone running off.

The playful, teasing look she gave him, her fur sleek with water, pulled at the tan male and he felt himself grinning, unable to hide the light that came into his red eyes. Again he found himself noting how lovely she was, all grace and smooth lines.
He hadn't had much chance to get to know a female beyond in passing, so when she called out for a race, Ushu spurred himself into action. Jumping up from his seat, he was after her in a surge of lean muscle and fluid motion, a playful growl rolling from his throat as the wind plucked at his mane.
Tail streaming, he pounded towards the tree, a grin on his features.

Reaching the tree, Mut circled it, grinning at Ushu. "I win!" Ears up, she couldn't help giggling. Her tail curled, the chocolate hairs brushing the ground just a bit. As she waited for him, she grinned just so, delight dancing in her light blue eyes. It was a wonderful feeling, this game! It made her warm with delight.

Ushu laughed as he lost, not really minding it. On impulse at the last moment, he spun and pounced on Mut, knocking them both over. It was a childish thing to do for a grown lion, but he was having fun and there was just something about Mut that made him want to touch her, to play with her.
He chuckled as he wrestled with her, his red eyes bright and sparkling, his mane brushing his cheeks.
