NOTE: This class/discussion is no longer taught/led by a teacher. However, please feel free to read through it and ask any questions that you may have or express any thoughts/opinions you have. Just please don't ask, "Can I join the class?" Because the answer is 'no'. Thank you.

Hello everyone. My name is Rebecca.

Numerology is the study of numbers and their influence on human life. It does involve a little bit of math, but don't freak out. It is as simple as adding single numbers together. (Although I do get lazy and use a calculator sometimes so don't worry about that bit xd ) It can reveal aspects of yourself that you may not have known before. It can reveal things about your personality, character, or experience through the number that you are.

If anyone has anything to add after each lesson, or a correction, feel free to express yourself. We are all in this learning journey together. I will try to mix things up a bit every once in a while with some kind of random (but still related) assignment or contest. We will just have to see, hmmm? wink The first lesson will be about the history of Numerology.

Lesson One
History of Numerology

Numerology is an ancient tradition. There has been evidence that numerology was in use thousands of years ago in China, Greece, rome, and Egypt. Many people believe that Pythagoras, an ancient Greek philosopher, is the "father" of numerology. However it has been in existence long before him.

Many of the earliest teaching were were done orally, only to the initiated, because information was considered very powerful and sacred.

Pythagoras believed that reality is mathematical, or that order is created out of chaos through numbers.

An interesting fact: Beauty in many species depends on whether or not the organism is symmetrical or not. Here is a human example. In general, the more symmetrical a person is in face and structure, the more beautiful he or she is considered. This can be a very subconscious thing.

Numerologists believed that everything, including abstract concepts, can be converted into numbers and those numbers have specific meanings. Even early christian scholars took up the notion. This led to a widespread growth of the practice during the Renaissance.

There are three recognized versions of numerology; Chaldean Numerology, Kabbalah Numerology, and Western Numerology. We will look at each in turn. I will begin with Chaldean Numerology first.

I would like to be a student as well!

The summitry thing is interesting. I once read a series of books somewhat centering around that concept. Have you ever read the Uglies trilogy? It is a really interesting story about beauty and the extremes that humanity will go to get there.

I read the 1st book; then they got to be really popular and I couldn't get the other 2 at the library. I might have to check on them again.

Lesson 2.1 Chaldean Numerology

The Chaldean numerology systems are the oldest numerology system known. It was conceived by a civilization known as the Chaldeans, who were to said to have been blessed by “I AM” with the wisdon of numerology. If anyone here hast any previvious knowledge of Western numerology, you know that the number 9 is used in your initial calculations, but in the Chaldean culture the number 9 is mystical number. It always disappears. In the chaldean numerology, the numerical vibrations assigned to the letters are not determined by alphabetical order, but they are determined by the energy vibration of each individual letter. This is a very mystical and spiritual approach to numbers using numbers in conjunction with Astrology, Name Power, Music Vibrations, and Colors.

Each letter in the alphabet has a numeric value 1-8. In the next lesson we will go into how to calculate the your numbers.

Are there any questions so far, or anything that anyone might like to add?

Lesson 2.2 How to calculate your number
Interesting fact: In Chaldean Numerology, the name that you use to do your calculations is the name that you are most known by. This could be a nickname, a married name, or your regular name if that is what you are most known by.
Here is how to calculate your numbers:

1= A, I, J, Q, Y
2= B, K, R
3= C, G, L, S
4= D, M, T
5= E, H, N, X
6= U, V, W
7= O, Z
8= F, P

1. Write down the name that you are most known by, then assign the number that corresponds with each letter. Make sure that you do each name separate.

For example purposes we will use my own name:
Most people know me as Rebecca Griggs

Rebecca= 2+5+2+5+3+3+1
Griggs= 3+2+1+3+3+3

2. Next, add up all these numbers and then reduce them to a single digit. After you have added your name separately, then you add the two numbers together. Again reduce them to a single digit.

Rebecca=2+5+2+5+3+3+1 = 21 = 3
Griggs= 3+2+1+3+3+3 = 15 = 6
3+6 = 9

3. Make sure to make a note of any compound numbers in your name. Mine are 21 and 15. Because these are compound numbers they will hold significance in your reading.

Homework! Isn't that exciting? Anyway calculate your name number and make sure to note any compound numbers you get.

Allison=23=5
Lambert= 21=3
5+3=8

would you like me to have all the numbers displayed or is this good?
