Sawa yawned and thumped his companion in the head. It was early evening and they really had to be moving. He had no clue where they were and he was sure he needed to get back closer to the pridelands today if he wanted to pick up that pretty little lioness again. "Ge'up." He said urgently to his pal.
Siyo grunted and groaned and sleepily swatted at the air. "Go away." He muttered and rolled onto his side. He felt a hard n** to his shoulder and he grunted again, eyes slitting open. "Wasstherush?" He slurred together his words, making no effort to speak properly because this was one of his and Sawa's usual routines.
"Mmmm, no rush." He said, though his voice was a little suspicious sounding. "Jus' thought an early start on the even'in would be good." He grinned as Siyo started to sit up, though he did see the other roll his eyes because he obviously didn't believe him. "Really c'mon, I do' no' know where we be at all." He said, this time sounding obviously a little upset. It wasn't often that Sawa lost track of where they were.
"Fine." He finally said, though he still suspected it was about a girl. It was always about a girl and it made Siyo a little resentful to his long time friend. Couldn't he keep his mind of those vicious beasts for a little while?

Laini padded through the tall grasses. She had just eaten and was feeling rather bloated. However she felt the desire to walk it off rather than snooze. And it was a chance to clear her mind. Little did she know it was about to be bombarded with new ideas. Her gaze was shifted so that it focused on a couple feet in front of her rather than the horizon so she had no clue the path she wandered led her to other lions.

As they walked, exchanging few comments but mostly silent Sawa happened to spot the lioness first. He nudged Siyo. "Well look wha' we've run into." He grinned.
"Oh. Grea'." He grunted, put into an even more sour mood. He narrowed his eyes at Sawa. Ladies always first, that was his life saying. His eyes traveled over the female regardless (not in an oogling manner, as Sawa always seemed to do, more of a curious manner) as he looked at the markings on her body. She was an odd color, bright. Cheerful, almost.
"Sawa." He warned. "Yeh said yeh wanted an early start an' this is no' wha' I take tha' to mean."
"Shush!" He ordered, thwapping him gently with his big paw, a charming grin already plastered to his face. He even went as far as to shoving Siyo away a little... he could definitely put a damper on the whole mood of things!
"Why 'ello there miss." He called, his voice full of it's usual charm and sickly-sweetness.
He stumbled and pouted, calming himself down. This is just what Sawa did, he shouldn't be bothered so much by it.
"Even'in." He offered, though promptly fell silent after the initial greeting. He even tried putting on a less annoyed look on his face! Good boy.

Laini raised her head at the sound of voices, two teenage boys. She smiled amused at them. "Hello yourself, fine sirs," she teased. It wasn't really flirting on her part, actually. "I didn't know these parts had inhabitants." Not like it was an awful place to live though. Just that her traveling group didn't seem to think that there really were any lions nearby. Well, surprise surprise. However, they both seemed really nice although the red one might be a bit iffy on that subject. She wasn't in the mood for psycho-analyzing though.

Sawa chuckled to himself at her greeting and even though she wasn'tflirting he couldn't help but tell himself she was. Ah, the downfalls of a big ego. "Oh? Actually there do no' be many lions righ' around this place bu' uuh.." He looked around slowly. Oh yeah, they were lost.
"Righ' to the wes' lives a large pride." Siyo cut in smoothly, though he was only being informative. He'd spotted a few discreet landmarks that told him they were still... somewhat near the pridelands.
Oh he was going to kill Siyo! You didn't just cut in and make a male look like a fool like that! But how would Siyo know these things... Sawa guessed he'd never even nuzzled a female before.
At the thought he just chuckled, then quieted. "An'ee 'ow yeah. We're wanderers so thas why we be out 'ere. Where no' many roam." He concluded, watching her. He slowly sat.
"An' wha' should we be callin' the pretty lady?" He obviously meant Laini.
Siyo was going to be sick. He hated listening to Sawa with all this crap.. "He's Sawa and I'm Siyo." He added, so as not to look rude. His voice was getting short and quick, to the point. He wanted to leave! His eyes started to roam over her teal pelt again, despite the fact he normally never even looked at a female (not even in disgust, as he felt for them). The silver-gray markings on her fur were neat. He'd only seen.... boring pelts before. He eyes Sawa for a moment.
Perhaps not boring, just nothing fancy. "Are yeh passin' through then?" Ah he could quicken this conversation by joining it! Why was Sawa looking at him so funny?

Oh a pride nearby? Made her feel a little stupid. But then again, her traveling group came from the Unity Walkers, a carefully hidden pride so they probably had no real clue what they should be looking for to hint "pride this way".
There was a flicker of emotion that showed briefly on both their faces, similar emotions and a different one or two. It was quite amusing and she almost wondered what their silent argument would be if there was indeed one. "Well, I'm traveling with some of my friends, myself. A friend of mine is trying to save his pride lands which have been taken over by vultures. Yes, we are just passing through, resting for the night."
She nodded with another amused grin. "Nice to meet you Sawa... Siyo." She paused after each name to give them both a look and slight nod of recognition. "I'm Laini'Ukungu although everyone just calls me Laini."

Well! This was certainly the most talkative Siyo had been around one of their 'guests'. It was amusing Sawa a lot, after the initial 'what the hell are you doing talking to a lady im interested in' thing popped into his head. Did little Siyo finally like a girl?
Sawa could be completely oblivious sometimes. "Tha's a shame. Woulda' liked teh spend more time with such a pretty face." He grinned at her. Normally he could charm his way into a lionesses good graces very quickly but Laini didn't seem too impressed.
Suddenly chills ran down Siyo's spine and he looked to Sawa out of the corner of his eye. Oh no! He had that weird... mischievous look on his face. His mouth was hanging open just a bit as if he wanted to say something to Sawa but as he glanced at Laini again it shut.
"Wha' pride?" He asked slowly, curious and trying to keep his mind off of whatever Sawa was probably plotting. Didn't the dunderhead get he was just talking to the girl to hurry along the conversation and be on their way?
"Eh? New land eh... got yerself a mate?" Charming and blunt. Lovely.
Siyo gave the other a halariously disgusted look. He really had no tact any longer... He shook his head lightly and rolled his eyes. "Ignore 'im. 'E's too nosy."

Laini could have laughed with glee ...possibly danced with it too the way they looked at each other and the emotions that ran across their faces. This was the most amused she had been in a long time. Sawa had charmed his way into her good graces, maybe not in the way he had wanted nor the way he was used to using but he had. Because watching them was entertaining.
"Oh why thank you, kind sir," she replied to Sawa because responding in a like way made things so much more amusing to her. "The pride is called, in Laymen terms, the Dawnwalkers for their belief that the sun dies every night and travels through the abyss to come out the other side and be reborn at dawn." She turned and smiled at Sawa again. "No, I don't have a mate." She said it lightly not worrying about Siyo's excuse, trying to make it seem like it was ok. But it was actually something that she was sensitive about. Her traveling group was composed of Muroki, his mate, his friend Safiya and her mate, Laini's uncle, Moyenda. So she was the only unpaired one in the group and when all the others got all smoochy, it made her squirm just a little, uncomfortably.
"Oh kind sir," she said addressing Siyo, "you flatter me. You seem to care way too much about him offending me than perhaps you should." Her eyes had that certain twinkle. Gosh, was this fun!

Siyo stared at her almost in shock. He wasn't trying to flatter anyone nor did he care about Sawa offending her! He was about to say something very snarky (half because he was embarrassed and half because he was annoyed) when Sawa's paw came crashing down on his skull, ruffling his 'mane'.
Sawa just started to laugh, ruffling Siyo's head a tad too hard, but it wasn't noticeable. He knew Siyo had a habit of being somewhat... an a*****e, to be put blunt, when he was feeling uneasy. Or embarrassed. Sawa never related it to Siyo's horrible relationship this his mother as a cub, to be frank Sawa probably forgot quite a bit of his friend's history.
"Now tha' do be a surprise missy. Yeh be quite the looker. Best o' luck to ya in tha', yeah?" Oooh what a plan he had! But he still had to think it over more. He let go of Siyo's head and then itched at his nose with the back of his paw, looking completely pleased with himself.
Siyo flat out stared at Sawa, looking sulky. And then a little bit afraid. He really hated when Sawa got crazy plans.... time to change the subject back off of mates!
"Ah? Tha's an interestin' take on the sun.." He said slowly, glancing around the sky before he realized it was nighttime. Oh... right, he didn't really see the sun very often. He looked back to Laini, then to the dirt at her paws. He didn't really like looking at females, and his curiosity had been filled about her coat.

This time she couldn't stop herself and laughed out loud when he, trying to be casual of course, bopped Siyo on the head. Of course, this was only because she had taken to already watching their emotions and feeding her amusement with them. At Sawa's words, a look of pleasant surprise crossed her face and she almost -ALMOST- blushed but quickly saved herself. That could be a little embarrassing, no? "Thank you." It was simple and to the point.
Laini looked also around for the sun, surprised, but at the same time almost expecting because of his words that it would be out, about, and doing something interesting although she had no clue what. The sun always seemed to look the same to her. But it was night. She looked back to make a remark but he seemed to be quite avidly staring at her toes. "Something wrong with them?"

Oh her laugh was lovely! Sawa would never understand why Siyo didn't take more of an interest in females, everything about them was divine! Ah but soon he'd find out, Sawa was going to make sure of this.
He eyed the two for a moment and miraculously stayed quiet.
He blinked, his left ear flicked and he brought his gaze back up to her. "With wha'?" He asked, almost stupidly. And then he realized where he'd been watching and what she must have thought or something weird like that and he would have blushed... except that he was already completely red naturally! Though his face did look embaressed.
"I am no'... there's nothin'.." Oh god both of those sentences sounded like complete and utter crap. I'm not staring at your toes? There's nothing wrong with them? What and then tell her they're perfectly good toes? Worse was he hadn't had time to think of some witty come back so that she'd leave him be!
So he sat there with his mouth slightly open, staring near her eyes trying to think of how he was supposed to explain this.
Sawa just cracked up, tail curling about his paws and paw brushing against his eyes. Oh Siyo was a good laugh! He'd never seen the boy this far thrown off his horse, so to speak. "'e does no' like lookin' a' females.." He explained, which would probably make Siyo feel worse
His brows rose and he looked a little betrayed and completely surprised as he turned his gaze on Sawa. "Tha's no'... yeh make i' sound as if..." He trailed off, taking deep and quick breaths. Well this wasn't good!
He took a final deep breath and his toes flexed against the hard ground. He was going to kill Sawa when they were alone! "Tha's no' it.." He said, looking apologetically to Laini. "I... was jus' zoned out." He said, rather defensively.

Hmmm... Laini didn't know what to make of the situation. She had the urge to giggle like the proverbial schoolgirl. "So you're not gay?" she asked, curiously, trying to give him the chance to clear it up. So he was just... afraid to look at her? She wasn't going to eat him. "That's alright. I forgive you." She held herself up in the mock expression of superiority. "After all," she wiggled her toes, "they're such a large contrast in color to your main coat." It was a vibrant red like passion. She had such the urge to say that and unsettle him. It would have been so much fun. But he looked alarmed enough already.

He positively roared with laughter! Oh he liked her, she had jokes! "Oh god!" He was on the ground now, laughing so hard. He knocked Siyo playfully on the side but his laughter died away a little when he realized how uncomfortable his friend was. But still... it was funny!
His heart almost stopped when she asked such a question! "Wha'?" He looked shocked. And disgusted. And even a little pissed. "I'm no'... gay.." He repeated, slowly and bitterly. Gay! Why would anyone think he was gay? I mean he knew he didn't much like females but that didn't mean he had to like males! That was... oh god. He really came off as gay? Well at least it would get him left alone right...
He shot Sawa a dirty look and the other tried to look apologetic and hide his mirth at the same time. He made a face at Laini when she said what she did next and rolled his eyes, though he was honestly speechless. He had no clue at all what to do about this.. Oh he wanted to leave! Forgive him for what? He hadn't done anything wrong! Last time he checked the only person he was required to be sorry to was his mother and that was for being born...
"Don'." He warned, frowning at her.
This time Sawa frowned, it was actually a very rare thing on the males face, and whacked Siyo in the back of his head. "Ligh'en up will yah, she was teasin'." He said, but the grin creeped back on his face. Gay. Oh god, this was amusing. They were cute together! Funny, mostly.
Ah... but she was mentioning his coat. He looked to Laini and shook his head quickly, warning her not to go down that roar. Siyo was so insecure about being red... though how could she know that?

She blinked and frowned just a bit, not realizing her words were going to cause harm. "I'm sorry if I offended you? I really was just teasing you." Of course, she was quite happy at least one of them seemed to appreciate her joke.
She stared at her paws. The situation had become rather awkward, hadn't it? And of course, it made her feel rather guilty.

Look what Siyo did! Now she was awkward! He didn't much care when Siyo was embaressed, nervous, or anything besides grouchy (because he was usually grouchy) and it was delightful to see him so animated... but he did not like seeing girls upset!
"Oy, oy. Do no' worry abou' it. Siyo is touchy." He grinned and nudged Siyo in a friendly, light manner to try and get him to cheer up a little.
He huffed and stared down at his paws because normally he was used to making others mad, not... awkward. "I's fine." He muttered, feeling even more embarrassed now that he turned the whole situation sour. "I'm no' used.. teh bein' teased." By anyone except Sawa, anyways.
If only he was free to explain the little bits of Siyo he understood! His mother had made him very uneasy about himself, he knew that much... but not much more. "Any'ow I think i's bes' we be goin'. Wha' direction are yer pridelands in any ways?" He asked, the mischievous glint in his eye again. Yes, this was important!
