Okay, I'm getting a bit confused, so I thought I'd ask. What exactly is this guild's relationship with the moderators? I know they like when we report rather than just flame, I've been told that much directly, but does anyone ever talk to any of 'em? Or do most just sit and complain about how the moderators don't process reports fast enough?
I'm just wondering 'cause my brain works that way.

using namespace std; int main () { Basically, we have no relationship with them and they care for none with us. It's not that either party has a vendetta against the other, but rather that neither can, or will, do anything to further the other's cause.return 0; }

Interesting...

using namespace std; int main () { Pretty much. If we had more moderators that were actually active, that is, if there was at least one moderator for the forum online 24/7, then things would likely be different and we would pursue an active relationship with the moderating staff. But as is, the moderators, well, suck. They aren't online anywhere near enough to make it worthwhile.return 0; }

I've done it at least a dozen times and that was just for the sake of doing it. I'm sure I'm not the first to think that if one can't make time to be available for a project such as dealing with the reports perhaps it would be better to step aside for a more active user who wants the job... but then, I've got my own small community outside of Gaia to deal with. Experience speaks volumes, but in terms of community size I'm sure mine can't compare. However, I have gotten response from at least one moderator because of my reporting, so it's a bit hard for me to believe that all of them are simply not active... though their behavior has led me to wonder in the past. Then again, it has been only recently that I decided to attempt a more polite reporting style :shrug: maybe that has something to do with it, maybe not. The world may never know.

using namespace std; int main () { Oh, yes. I mean, some of the moderators are just spot on. They'll get to your reports quickly and thank you for it as well. However, there just aren't enough. No one moderator can very well handle the number of reports that come in daily and not enough moderators are online often enough to make the number of reports insignificant.
Heh... In the end, it all boils down to the fact that the moderating team is understaffed, that the existing moderators either can't log on enough to deal with the reports, else simply aren't dedicated to their position, and that people will continue to be idiots and make spam and troll threads. And until we get more moderators, the cycle will be perpetuated and intensified and the level of discussion in the community will drop significantly whilst we stand idly by, entirely unable to intervene.
[edit] For the record, I am not insulting the moderator staff, rather I am stating that they are disproportionate in numbers to the number of users that visit the forum and that until more structure is given to their position, the forum will remain cluttered and unkempt. I just realised that what I was saying could go either way...return 0; }

I had a rather interesting conversation this evening.
It seems that because so often people will PM them to yell or b***h that their problems aren't being solved fast enough most moderators hide their status, so you never know when they're online... which is reasonable, when you think about it. Would you announce your presence to the world if the majority of the time people just ragged on you for one thing or another?
I just thought this might interest... um... someone... else...

using namespace std; int main () { Well, they could always just reject all PMs save from those friendlisted...

Out of all the times I've sent reports, there's only one mod who ever thanked me for doing so, and in that, I do realize that there's still some decent mods out there. There's just not enough of them anymore though.

Has anyone noticed how good the mods are in the Chatterbox? I have a thread in there, and occassionally, some n00b will post a scamming link or spam, and everytime I report said posts, they will be removed within around 15 minutes. Why can't the ED be like that?

Because the discussions in the ED actually matter. (Relatively speaking, of course.)

Well, I would have thought the chatterbox would have been like the GD where the mods have just given up...

Not all the mods in GD have given up... I've been reporting in there lately, too, and things have been handled rather well...
