Ya know what? Screw Wikipedia. Xenomorphs have had at least three scientific names thrown around, I know and have gotten translations for two... You guys have any opinion on this or input of your own?
Linguafoeda acheronsis (Appeared in: The Aliens comics and novels.)
lingua = language, tongue, speech
foeda = fouly, in a filthy manner
acheronsis = ___ (Obviously non-existant, a direct referrence to the first world that was presumed to be their home.)
Possible Translation: Foul-tongues of Acheron.
Internecivus raptus (Appeared in: The background to the selection screens on the Alien Quadrilogy DVD set.)
inter = among, approximately, about, around, roughly
ne = that not, in order that not, in order not to
interne = destruction
civus = ___ (Possibly non-existant.)
cevus = ___ (Possibly non-existant.)
civius = civil, civic
rapt = ravisher, thief
tus = diffama (defaming)
raptus = synonimous with rapt
Possible Translation: Destructive thief/Destructive ravisher/Thief that is close and creates non-civility?/Destructive, defaming thief.

While I like both translations equally, and think they are both fitting, I like the second one most when it comes to untranslated, and when refering to the Xenos and their scientific names, I would go with that.

I always figured Internecivus raptus to mean something along the lines of Form stealer.. Sticking civius in there it might mean "cognitive form stealer"?
I'd guess that Linguafoeda acheronsis would be reffering to the facehugger. Foul-tongues automatically makes me think of the implantation tube.
I quite like that conclusion. The stages are really quite different and I'd assume that they're are two different species so giving them different names would make sense.

When I thought of foul tounges I thought of their inner jaws. O_o Its technically where a humans tounge would be.

I like Xenomorph more
You all know of course
Xeno- Alien
Morph- Form
Alienform. (duh) greek.....
but maybe you should add Xenomorph for the newbies to AVP etc. who do not know. they might be wondering what the last one is.

Technically Xenomorphs aren't their scientific name. Its their common name. Its what they are labeled as and called most of the time. But its a general term, like dog, and can't be a scientific name. People use Xenomorph so that Alien wouldn't confuse people. There are millions of kinds of aliens and alien movies.

Mm... Just in the films, Aliens vs Predator (Prey), and Aliens vs Predator: War we're actually shown at least ten or eleven different alien species. Of course, most of them are feral animals native to Ryushi and the planet Top Knot brought his hunting party to. I say ten or eleven because I forget how many, if any, native animals we saw on the colonized planet in War. I think we saw something the size of a squirrel that was like a flying squirrel/lizard, but I'm unsure.

You can all guess which name I like better( my username, duh.). LinguaFoeda Acheronsis translates precisely into "foetid tongue from Acheron". Considering this is where the Aliens were first encountered, and that they have foul(foetid) tongues- an obvious reference to their extendable internal jaws. I don't like this scientific name, since Acheron is not generally accepted as being the home planet of the xenomorphs.
Internecivus Raptus is the canon scientific name, since the films are the primary canon source of information on the creatures. The name is once again latin, the main language for scientific names, and translates into "murderous" or "destructive" "robber" or "thief". So "murderous thief" could be the correct translation. "predator" is not an accurate translation for Raptus because "predator" and "hunter" are psuedonyms for eachother, and the latin word for those would be venator( see the dinosaur AfroVenator- African Hunter)
