I'm sure it's happened, at least in practice to you at some point. Perhaps not. I know I've fallen a few times during practices. What I want to know is if you've fallen during an actualy performance, whether at a football game, or maybe even a competition? I know I've come close.

heart every time it rained last year i slipped in the same spot in the opener but i never fell. everyone said it was like the matrix, how i never touched the ground....... domokun

I fell during the Gatlingburg Parade last year. It hurted.
But it's not as bad as one of my section leaders; He fell during a competition in his sophomore year but got up so fast in the vid you'll see a fat blue blob twitch. He broke his arm. He knew it too, but he marched the whole show with a broken arm. Ouch.

Never once during my 7 years of marching have I fell except for a month ago during HS Tour... the field was wet, and we were in the middle of what's called a criss-cross block (diagonal movement 1 1/2 yard lines in 10 counts to the left, then another 10 to the right. big steps, ne?). Considering the show was at 180 BPM, I don't feel so bad, considering I only landing on my knee after my right foot lost traction during a 90-degree pivot. I had family watching me, though, and they didn't even notice me fall because I recovered so fast. x3

We were marching to our prelims at BOA houston, and since I march 4 bass, I cannot see in front of me. What do I do? I hit the curb, fall face first into my drum. Then, I had to get up and march the 9 minutes Band show. Talk about fun!

oh wow this questions makes me think of how many klutzs are in our band
i remember 2 weeks ago we were doing a walkthrough for our competition which was in a few hours and on this one part were we do 4 to 5's i slipped and twisted my ankle xp it hurt so badly but i still marched on it during the competition
not my best idea but it was for the sake of the band mrgreen

I fell during the marching showcase in our 2007 show....I was in the line jetting out and I almost took out the whole line with me

I personally haven't fallen, as I'm pit for shows, but we had a bunch of people fall in one of the last games. One of our tenor saxes fell, flipped around and got right back up, the other tenor slipped and one of the clarinets slipped. Not a good day for us, the stupid football team tore up the field completely while it was raining...

I fell during my second football game this year.
I was going backwards like...almost 6 to 5, and the kid behind me doesn't march so well so he was going to slow, and I stepped on his foot. then the guy in front of me [who was also going backwards] tripped over me, and the guy in front of him tripped over both of us.
miraculously ALL of us were up and marching in just a few seconds.
I got yelled at in class the next day though crying

I fell during one of the early season preformances during my freshman year. It had rains all that week and the field was grass, so it was muddy. I wasn't the only one that fell, but I was the coolest. Tried pulling of a hipswitch since I had to go striaght right after moving straight left, and my foot came out from under me. Luckily, I was able to shoot out my hand and push myself back up and into form. I was told it kinda looked liek somethign outta the Matrix.

We were practicing and there was a mud on our field. And me being a freshmen yeah I was not used to it so.......I hit a mud puddle and slipped right on my butt. Took out my whole sax line with me to. Drumline almost stepped on me to! I was so mad!

Hmm, I haven't fallen during a competition or practice.. yet. :]
But I did pass out at my first day of band camp ever. X-x
I fell over backwards in a parking lot.. >-< that hurt my head.
And I heard my sax crash on the ground next to me since I didn't own a neckstrap at the time...
Scary time for me.

Not during a contest...but I did trip a alto sax player during practice one day. It started a domino effect and our whole little section was on the turf...my band directer just started laughing.

Our show this year was "Batter Up." So, naturally we had bases on the field (this was half time at a football game) I ALMOST fell. i tripped and i swung my arms and squeaked, but i didnt fall.
Durning practice this year there we were in the parellelagram and me and my fellow piccoloists had to march backwards to get out of it. I had to march 3 yard lines in 16 steps. I tripped over a clump of grass (lets face it... our practicing feild is nothing but a dirt bowl with random clumps of grass sticking up). everyone started laughing but they congratulated me on getting up quickly and getting back into my spot.
