When you can't die, eternity doesn't seem near as long.

...Before The Doctor began his lonely trek across space and time...
...Before Gallifrey was destroyed and the Time Lords with it...
...Many Time Lords traveled, righting wrongs with their amazing time-machines...

The Time Lords. A species living since the dawn of time. They have developed time travel and are under strict rules not to interfere. But many have said that it is their responsibility to help the less advanced species of the universe. Thus, the Travelers were born.

Jumping over time and space is a huge responsibility and takes a least a century of training. But centuries are nothing to those who live forever. They cannot die by conventionally means, as they can just Regenerate. When something is seriously wrong with them, they may release a flood of inner energy to completely change their cellular-structure, becoming another person entirely.

Time Lords must travel in secret. Thus, each Traveler has a TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space), which acts as their transport and their home. It can adapt to match and blend in to the surroundings. But many Travelers choose to make their TARDIS one distinct shape, to distinguish themselves. To quote a certain famous Time Lord when asked about it:

"Well, don't people notice it?!"
"You humans. You see a mysterious box in the middle of the street and what do you do? You ignore it."

A TARDIS exists in two different spaces at once: one on the outside, and one on the inside. The inside can be ten-times bigger than the outside, and all you need to do is step through the door.

Part of a Traveler's training is simply to learn. And learn, and learn, and learn. Their training is to solve problems with wit and knowledge, and use force only as a last resort. A Traveler's usual 'weapon' consists non-lethal technology, like sonic-screwdrivers or such.

It is discouraged to take on companions, but sometimes a blind eye is turned to it, as a Time Lord's life can be more lonely than anything.

Are you ready to travel through time and space? To right all the wrongs of the universe? Then step inside, and wait for the sound...

...Character Maps...

"Who are you?"
"I'm The Doctor."
"Doctor who?"
"Exactly"

PM me your profiles with what you want to be in the subject line. We need to try to have a balance of characters here, so I may suggest that you be something else if we have a lot of one thing.
If you wish to use a photo please link it so we don't take up space.

All Time Lords have different physiology than to us humans. They have two hearts, can go without air for about an hour, can Regenerate, live incredibly long lives ('middle age' would be around 800 years old, and though they can live forever if they will it, most choose their Death Day at around 1,700 years), and have slightly higher stamina than humans.

...Missions and Rules...

“Can you imagine silver leaves waving above a pool of liquid gold containing singing fish? Twin suns that circle and fall in a rainbow heaven, another world in another sky? If you’d like to come with me, I’ll show you all this."

I will be playing one of the people on the Traveler Council, who gives the Travelers and Trainees their missions from the Citadel on Gallifrey.

These missions usually involve stopping extraterrestrials from damaging time or altering history of Earth. Depending on the job, you will be under a sort of time-limit before Paradoxes start occurring and you have to deal with... different problems.

Usually you'll be sent alone or with a Trainee, but sometimes you may need a helping hand in the form of another Traveler with you.

Your missions could be anywhere in Time, future or past, and anywhere in Space if their far enough in the future.

Good Luck.

-------- wahmbulance ---------RULES--------- wahmbulance -------

1. No Godmodding
2. No cybering
3. Literate posts. You'll be working alone a lot so at least a five sentance paragraph a post. That is not too hard.
4. I am your MASTER. My word is law.
5. Try to throw in some technobable every once in a while. That's part of what makes Doctor Who fun.
6. Keep OOC limited. Use (( brackets ))
7. Be nice, and have fun!

...Accepted Profiles...

Time Lord Travelers:

Gaian Name: chewylove
Title: The Maiden
Gender: Female
Age: 98
Current Appearance
TARDIS Appearance: Old refrigerator
Tool of Choice: Screaming Eggbeater (when used, unleashes a high pitched scream capable of shattering glass. Good for distractions), and Ten Ton Hoe, an enormous garden hoe that weighs only a couple punds but unleashes a blow like being struck by car.
Brief History and Personality: Quirky and optimistic with an unbeatable go-get-'em attitude, the Maiden isn't one to let anything bring her down. Her history is unknown at this point, but will develop as the story goes along (also, I am too lazy to think up anything right now ~_^)
Prefer to work alone or with companion: With companion

Gaian Name:LydaLynn
Title: The Musician
Gender:Female
Age:428
Current Appearance: The Musician
TARDIS Appearance:The Musician's Tardis is still set to camouflage mode. After all, it only became popular to set a TARDIS' appearance after The Doctor's was broken for so many years, and The Musician sees no reason to tempt the obliviousness of the younger races just to have 'style.'
Tool of Choice: Harmony Flute - The harmony flute has been touched by the living heart of her TARDIS and when playing it The Musician can determine inconsistencies her current time stream, allowing her to know what and who is out of place and how the melody must be changed to match what is right.
Jewel of the Infini - The Musician generally wears this green gem on her belt, the jewel comes from the world Infinas, a world renown for their school which produced Songbirds [People dedicated to changing lives through their music]. Not only had the Musician taken the time to study at the School of Song, she had been gifted with the jewel, which has two properties. The first and most simple is that when held by someone who concentrates their thought on it, it will translate their emotions into music. The second use, and one which only an individual with the proper training [both in the use of the jewel and the intricacies of magic] can use is that it can create sound specifically attuned to any one person or thing, and with this sound a trained individual can heal or restore to whole that person or thing. Of course, by finding a person's [or thing's] specific melody, one can also create a disharmony for that individual or item that could cause it harm or even destruction. This second ability of the Jewel is not widely known but is the cause of the destruction of the world of Infinas.
Brief History and Personality: When The Musician came of age to be taken to the Eye of Time and look into it, she preceded without fear. Every Time Lord was changed by their first look into the Eye, some reacted with fear and ran, some broke and went mad, and a very few gained strength from the Eye and an understanding of Time that other did not share. For The Musician she saw Time as a purposeful beat, a melody that wove among all things and kept the universe in order and a harmony that overlay everything with a rightness of what is, was and will be. Taking the name The Musician she strove to learn about the universe and time through music, it's expression and it's depth. Ever striving to be in tune with the universe and hear the melody of Time, she learned all she could of music and life and how they interact. She takes every opportunity she can to move through Time to hear how the melody, harmony and basic tempo change with the age of the universe. Adept in all forms of music she has ever encountered, The Musician is also an adroit dancer. She is very calm and steady, though a little quirky, as often expressing herself through music as actually speaking.
Prefer to work alone or with companion: A single musician can make worlds cry and an orchestra can change the course of history. Each is appropriate at its own time and place. A quiet mountain glen only needs a simple shepherd boy and his pipes while a busy city theater needs a full band. The Musician understands this and will work to make the music of the universe as she is called upon, alone or in harmony.

Human Companions:

Time Lord Traveler Trainees:

Gaian Name: [.hikage.]
Name: Pixel Leong
Gender: Female
Age: 125
Current Appearance: Pixel is an average girl, with a less than average height. Standing at a mere five feet, she tends to find things hard to accomplish, but can find ways to get them done anyway. With piercing cerulean eyes in contrast with her jet black hair, she looks anything but friendly. Her hair goes to her mid back, but is usually kept in a braid with a dark blue tie. Pixel has a slim figure, so looks like a mere preteen, but is stronger than she looks.
TARDIS Appearance: Her TARDIS is a mere cardboard box, matching her personality a bit. The only odd thing about it is that there are chains that keep it closed when she's not home, and a large lock on the top that can only be opened by a key that she has. She could fit perfectly in it if she scrunched up, but there would be no need to. On the inside it looks exactly like an apartment in the 19th century, a small kitchen with a stove, a sink, an oven, the usual. A living space with chairs, a television, a stereo, as well as a few random mechanical parts here and there. There's also her room, which she never enters because it is taken over by all her random junk, and a bathroom.
Brief History and Personality: Pixel has never known her parents, though she thinks that she's better of not knowing them, and has lived with different Time Lords until she was old enough to take care of herself. She's always had some knack for helping others, though isn't too great with fixing things that she hasn't broken or messed up. Through her life she looked up at the other Time Lords, striving to be like them, no matter how long it took her to get there. Her determination and amount of pride got her to where she is today. She is a self-motivator, yet a bit of an idiot, and she knows it. She likes to try her best and keep a positive attitude, which contrasts to her usual laid back and sarcastic attitude she has when not on a mission.

Mission Database

Current Mission: There's a disturbance in the year 1870. It hasn't happened enough to pinpoint, but we believe it has to do with the British foreign secretary George Villiers, 4th earl of Clarendon, who in History was supposed to get Prussia to accept a reduction in armaments, but he died in London before negotiations could begin.
Except, he's alive, and headed by boat to Prussia now. He is riding in a barge which, according to the manifest, is empty.

Operative: The Maiden, Pixel Leong

The Counselor walked down the halls of the Citadel, upright and with an easy grace that comes with his years. He paused at a large window and looked out onto the silver trees that made up the wide expanse of the Citadel grounds. The twin suns, one near the horizon, the other high in the sky, shone their rainbow light through the atmosphere; giving the world a bizarre and beautiful quality that belongs only... to Gallifrey.

The Counselor heard the patter of shoes approach behind him and turned to meet a young Trainee with a distressed look on his face. "Counselor," he began, stumbling over his words, "There's a- an emergency- Code... code..."
The Counselor cut in, "Calm down, Tymer."
The distressed youth instantly shut up. Tymer, if The Counselor remembered correctly, was only 108 years old and had joined the Academy barely 50 years ago. "Now, take a deep breath and take me to the Eye. Tell me what you know along the way."
Without waiting, The Counselor started down the hall in the direction of the Eye. Tymer struggled to keep up, looking up at the leader of the Travelers. He was tall; about 6'5", jet-black hair with barely showing streaks of gray on the sides. He had strong features that settled easily into a smile which spread to his dark green eyes that suited his title. At just over 900 years he was one of the youngest leaders they had ever had.
Tymer took a deep breath and began talking, his two hearts slowing down a little. "There's a disturbance in the year 1870. It hasn't happened enough to pinpoint, but we believe it has to do with the British foreign secretary George Villiers, 4th earl of Clarendon, who in History was supposed to get Prussia to accept a reduction in armaments, but he died in London before negotiations could begin.
"Except, he's alive, and headed by boat to Prussia now."
They rounded a bend and entered the main part of the Citadel. The Counselor replied, "Is it possible it's just a Glitch?" That would make things simple. There would be a good chance that History would realize the mistake and snap back.
"No sir," Tymer replied, "We don't think so. Before he left for Prussia, he abruptly changed his plans. Instead of the small luxury ship, he's using a barge. The cargo bay is empty according to the manifest."
The Counselor was silent as the enter the Eye chamber, but he already had a theory forming in his mind.

Technicians sat at control panels all around the glass chamber that held the Eye. Anyone who walked by it averted their eyes almost unconsciously; it hurt something in the back of your mind to look straight into it, probably because it defied reality on quite a few levels.
A tall man dressed in the technician's outfit approached The Counselor. "Ah, Watcher, good to see you. Anymore developments?"
The Watcher replied stonily, "None. We need an agent in the field. Just reconnaissance until we know more."
"Only reconnaissance? Hm..." Counselor turned to a technician sitting at a small terminal. "What Travelers are available right now? Low level, please."
A few seconds later the boy replied, "We have quite a few low levels in classes, but only one who is at present unoccupied. The Maiden."
The Counselor stood in silence, thinking. Then abruptly, "How long until Paradox occurs?"
"At present," Watcher replied, "About forty-eight hours."
More thinking. "Alright. Bring her in. Also, bring in a Trainee to accompany her."

Somewhere on Gallifrey, two communicators bleeped into life, and a message was sent out to The Maiden and the trainee Pixel Leong. It was short and simple:
Code Blue- Return to Citadel Immedietly... Code Blue- Return to Citadel Immediently...
PostPosted: Sun Oct 14, 2007 4:29 pm

With a small groan, Pixel rolled over, hitting the small coffee table with her hand, trying to reach her communicator. After slapping the hard wooden surface a good twenty times, the not so young girl opened her eyes, glaring at the table. Reaching over, seeing the communicator at the opposite edge she started to grumble, only to tap the device off the edge. "No!" She cried, reaching too much to the point where she fell off of the couch. Snatching the device quickly, she sat up, rubbing her forehead.
"Geeze," she sighed, leaning against the couch as she looked at her communicator, the message repeating irritatingly. After a few moments it stopped and she stood, stretching her arms over her head. Quickly going to her bathroom, she took a fast shower and brushed her hair back into a braid, her bangs falling into her face. "I wonder if the Time Lord is already there," she asked herself, pulling on a pair of black knee length shorts and a white button down. Fixing a crimson red tie around her neck, she walked out of the bathroom and to the living room yet again. Sliding her arms into a black vest, the whole outfit making her look like a small school boy, she grabbed a few things off of the table.
"Hopefully I'm not Too late," she said a bit worriedly, sliding her feet into black boots and walking out of her door. Her head popped out of the top of her box and she smiled, climbing out. The box locked itself, the best feature of her TARDIS, and she looked towards the building. Sprinting to the Citadel, she walked into the doors and looked around. "The...Eye maybe?" She asked herself, walking in the direction of the room that it was located in. Making it to the room she looked around, but stayed silent for the most part, since she enjoyed just watching.

A long, loud yawn escaped the Maiden. She sat stooped over a bowl of lucky charms, blearily picking through the whole wheat part to get to the worhless, sugary marshmallows. Her eyes blinked heavily in the fluorescent lighting, one a light green, the other a sea blue. Too late she noticed that a strand of her long red hair had fallen into her cereal, and now lay curled over her arm like a wet noodle.
"Damn..." The Maiden muttered to herself. She had just taken a shower too. She was considering dragging her sorry self back to the bathroom to wash out the milk when a loud buzzing from her knapsack nearly startled her off her chair. Grabbing her heaving chest with one hand and the communicator with the other, the Maiden glance over the readout.
Code Blue.
Cursing, she jumped up, grabbing her bag and dashing into the adjoining living room. Piles of books and various paraphernalia covered every available surface, making it near impossible to find anything. She dove into a nearby pile, frantically chucking aside a stuffed crocodile and heaving an overturned grandfather clock out of the way. A rather squashed pair of slip on sneakers lay hidden underneath, next to an old fashioned eggbeater and a dusty gardenhoe. The Maiden shoved the shoes on and grabbed the two tools, then sprinted over the rest of the mess and out the front door.
She emerged from the insides of a rusty refrigerator. She kicked it shut to automatically initiate the defense system, and took off running again towards the Citadel, jangling merrily all the way due to the assorted charms and bells she wore.
Moments later the Maiden burst into the glass room that housed The Eye, gasping and hunched over to catch her breath. "I'm.... here....." She gasped, rubbing a stitch in her side.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 2:57 pm

The Counselor raised an eyebrow at The Maiden's rushed entrance. "You didn't need to hurry so much, Maiden," he said and a smile played at his lips, "But I can't fault you for enthusiasm." He nodded and smiled at Pixel, then grimed up a little. He turned to the Eye, this thing they had created.
The Eye was their key to time travel; before it, traveling across the vastness of reality was impossible. The moment that you entered a space in time that wasn't your own, huge rips in reality would occur, destroying the traveler from very existence. But then scientists discovered that the only way to interact with time without the release of Paradox energy would be if one sentient thing could observe the whole of History and make sense of it. Thus, the Eye was created; a thing that tapped into the aether and constantly observed, making it possible for time travel.

"In the year 1870, the British foreign secretary George Villiers planned to go to Prussia to convince them the reduce their armaments, but he died before he could leave. That's History," he paused. "But he's alive, and headed to Prussia now on a barge. The manifest claims that the cargo hold is empty, but we don't think so. Your mission is to find out why and how George Villiers is alive and what he is taking in that boat. If it is harmless and if his life can be sustained without drastic changes to History then we will allow it to play out. If now, well..." He left that hanging.
"Our techs have already loaded the time-stream information to your TARDISs," Watcher said, "Leave soon, and you both should arrive within the relative space of each other and about a minute apart. We'll try to set you down an hour before the ship is scheduled to depart."
The Counselor took up the string of conversation, "As always, we'll be in contact with you through the communicators and will give you more information as it becomes apparent. At present you have 36 hours until Paradox starts occurring." He turned to the pair; the youngest full Traveler they had and a trainee. "Any questions?"

(( btw, the thing about George Villiers is completely true, i looked it up xp ))

Closing her eyes for a moment, Pixel repeated as much of the information through her mind as possible. Glad to say that the only words missing were the unimportant linking words. Her eyes opened again as she looked over to the girl called 'The Maiden'. This'll be an interesting mission, she thought, pondering for a moment.
"We sneak onto the boat...or A boat," she whispered, trying to plan it out in the spur of the moment as the information rang fresh and clear through her mind. "And...we take him out of History of need be...without causing a commotion." That's just splendid...bloody splended she thought sarcastically with a sigh, but regained her composure soon after. Though she questioned her own opinions, she decided to brush it off till later, when they actually needed to think of a plan; And since The Maiden was already a Time Lord already, she would probably know a bit more. Looking up, away from the Travelers, she kept thinking, racking her minds with more questions and answers to those questions.
"I can't think of any questions," Pixel said, blinking a few times in confusion. I'll just wait for more information later on in the mission. Glancing back towards The Maiden, she planned on waiting to hear if she had questions, just in case Pixel had over looked something. After that, she'd head off to her TARDIS when the Time Lord did.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 2:11 pm

The Councelor had taken long enough to explain everything for The Maiden to catch her breath, and she now looked eager and ready for action.
"Yeah, alright!" She exclaimed after Pixel had said her piece. "No questions here, sir!" Her eyes danced with excitement, as if her body alone couldn't portray the enthusiasm she felt. A mission! It'd been quite some while since her last one, and damned if she was going to screw this one up too. No way, she was going to do this right!
The Maiden positively beamed at Pixel and The Counselor. "Okay trainee, you ready for this!?" She asked, swinging her garden hoe so came to a rest on her shoulder. The eggbeater she had already tucked away safely in her pack; she'd take it out later when they'd reached their destination.
