Basically the same thing as above, in other words:
A story of Avatar Roku and Sozin, the former Fire Lord Sozin that began the war, gives Aang and Zuko insight into their predecessors' mingled lives.
Source: wikipedia

Yeah such a great ep this will be.. Can't wait.. I wonder though, how could Zuko and Aang gain insight at the same time (I guess they indeed will)? Some sort of 'Parallel Dream'?

Well, I'm sure that Roku just relates the story to Aang. The better question is who's telling Zuko--and is he getting a perverted version of the story or the truth?
Perhaps his mom wrote him a letter and hid it somewhere--probably now but I'm just guessing.
I doubt Ozai would tell the truth about how his grandpops was a nut. Maybe Iroh talks to Zuko now to tell him the truth. It would explain why Iroh told him in the season 2 finale "Its time for you to choose...good." as if he were labeling the fire nation evil.
Personally, I've been very interested in Sozin and Roku's relationship. I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that they were relatives of some degree. Maybe cousins, perhaps they studied under the same firebending master as children? Perhaps they were jsut playmates?
In the 1st episode when Iroh told Zuko that his "father, grandfather and great grandfather all searched for the avatar and failed" I figured that the royal family had some grudge against the Avatar himself.
Also the way that they attacked the Air Nomads--"to me"--meant it was something of a manhunt mission and less of a cause to further the war effort. They just did it to get two birds with one stone.

Oh my god... That was such an informative episode. I can't believe Sozin did that to Roku. I have an extreme dislike for him now, seriously. And OMG! Zuko is decendent of Avatar Roku!?!?!? That is amazing! I freaked out. I cannot believe that.. That was definitely something I was not expecting..

Maybe that's why Zuko and Aang were destined to meet. I was definately not expecting Roku to be Zuko's Great Grandfather, I wonder if they even knrw their descendants would get married. Sozin was a good creepy.
I did notice the new voice actors voice for Iroh. I'll have to get used to it. right now I like the old one :3 Iroh needs to sow Zuko his rippedness.

...I hardly noticed the new voice actor for Iroh. There was one second where I thought, "Hmm... Iroh sounds a little weird," but that was about it. Meanwhile, that episode rocked my socks. Sozin and Roku were best friends... didn't see that coming. And then when Iroh told Zuko that Roku was his great-grandfather on his mother's side... I just kinda spazzed out for a moment. xd

I love how the back story is getting more involved and intracate. That was a great twist having the previous avatar be Zoku's ancestor.

This episode was so good - I know this is a late reply... just joined guild- the best season by far. I really think it is awesome that Aang and Zuko are somewhat related. I never thought Avatar Roku would be related to Zuko. That's cool!
