This is an exerpt from my 2006 NaNoWriMo Story that was never finished. I only wrote two scenes for it that I actually liked. And this is one of them. I'd say PG but that may be a bit high, actually. No violence or language. Just a funny little scene based on an actual event in my life.
They walked to the car in silence. Peter unlocked the door and she climbed in. “Did you have fun?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he said as turned the key. “Everyone seems really cool.”
“Yeah, they are,” Lydia replied. She pulled her seatbelt on as he began driving.
The entire drive was spent in silence. Lydia looked out the window at the moon and the stars and smiled to herself. She had had a wonderful evening and it was nice that he got along so well with her friends. She glanced at him occasionally and there was a strange feeling in her stomach. She really liked him. The time they spent together over the past two weeks were really great and he was so sweet. She never would have thought she would be feeling like this on the first night they met. Although, Emily had put them into a very awkward situation, she thought. But, she felt comfortable around Peter and could talk to him about just about anything.
She was so lost in thought that she suddenly realized they were pulling into her driveway. Peter put the car into park and turned to her. “I, uh, I had fun today,” he said.
“Me too,” she replied. She unhooked her seatbelt and placed her hand on the door handle. She looked back at him and leaned in quickly to kiss him on the cheek. He turned and attempted to kiss her back. She pulled away just as quickly and felt her face turn a bright red.
“Wow,” Peter said.
Lydia’s heart was pounding and she grabbed her towel and her bag and nearly jumped from the car. “Bye,” she said as she raced to the house. Her cheeks were a bright shade of red and she moved as fast as she could because she felt like her legs would melt. She went inside the house and looked out the door. All she saw was his tail lights going down the street. She felt her chest. Her heart raced with a mixture of embarrassment and happiness.
“What’s your problem?” Jo asked. Lydia jumped. She didn’t notice her sister sitting at the computer by the door.
“Nothing,” said Lydia.
“I don’t believe you,” said Jo.
“Well, it’s true. I’m going to bed.” She headed for her bedroom in the basement and pulled her cell phone out of her bag. She dialed Emily’s number as she ran down the stairs to change out of her wet clothes.
“Hello?”
“Em? It’s Lydia. You’ll never believe what just happened!”
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Emily said, sounding worried.
“It’s nothing bad… Well, actually, I’m not sure what it is,” said Lydia, pacing around the room. “Peter and I went to a pool party tonight with my friends from school.”
“Oh yeah? How did that go?”
“It was a lot of fun and he got along with everyone. We left and the drive home was really quiet. Then, when he dropped me off…” she stopped to catch her breath.
“What?” asked Emily. “What happened? Spill!”
“I… I kissed him!” Lydia sat on the couch because recalling it made her feel like she was going to fall over again.
“What?! That’s awesome! How was it?”
“Totally awkward!” exclaimed Lydia. “Then, I just grabbed my stuff and took off.” Emily began laughing. “It’s not funny!”
“Sorry,” said Emily, still giggling. “I don’t mean to laugh. But, at least your first kiss was a memorable one.”
“I’ll say,” said Lydia, smiling. “But, what if he’s mad?”
“Why would he be mad?”
“I don’t know,” Lydia stood and began pacing again. “Because I took off? Or I did it so abruptly and it made him uncomfortable?”
“I don’t think so,” said Emily. “Call him tomorrow and ask.”
“What? No!”
“So you’re just going to cut him off?”
“I didn’t say that,” said Lydia. “I… I have no idea. I like spending time with him. He’s so sweet. But, I’m a little confused right now. I don’t know what to think about anything at the moment.”
“Well, when you get everything figured out, let me know,” said Emily. “I have to go. Talk to you later.”
“Bye.” Lydia closed her phone and plopped onto the couch. She smiled to herself as she relived the night for a few minutes before changing into her pajamas and going to sleep. She had an early day at work the next day.

VikkiLostGuin it is quite a charming sorry. My first kiss was with a guy with more experience, and I was way too nervous!!! He was surprised and didn't believe that he was my first either. lol I based that on the first kiss i had with my boyfriend. It was both of our first kisses. Second time was much better and, even over a year later, I get that rubbery feeling in my legs.
