Well, I've always been kind of curious why some of you chose whatever screen names you've given yourselves (except for the Who-related ones, since the inspiration for those is pretty obvious). In my case...
Hairy Priest = one of the nicknames given to Wu Song, one of the 108 heroes of the Chinese classic novel 'Water Margin' (a.k.a. 'Outlaws of the Marsh' or 'All Men Are Brothers'). He's probably best remembered for killing his adulterous sister-in-law, Pan Jinlian (Golden Lotus).
Don't ask me why I picked that particular name. I'm really not sure myself. Unfortunately, I used up all my free name changes at the time, so I decided to just stick with it.

(you don't know the strange looks I get when I say some of you lots names out loud...)
Roobarb (spelt this way) is actually from the cartoon Roobarb and Custard, which is awesome and I love it, especially it's theme tune. However, I didn't exactly choose to name myself after it. In highschool, one of my friends decided we should all have nicknames and mine ended up Roobarb (after 'Ruth' which doesn't really shorten to much except 'Rut').
We didn't really stick to our nicknames in real life but when I went all internet-y I figured I'd start using it as it seems to suit me and I don't like changing names a lot, I like having a simple name people can remember. And on most sites it hasn't already been taken so that makes life much easier! sweatdrop

I had wondered if it was for "Ruth Barbara". smile
"Eirwyn" is a character in a Doctor Who fanfic comic I started drawing back in 1987. She's the daughter of the main character, a goofy Time Lord named "Whatsit" (who, yes, is my second account, although I had to name him "Doctor_Whatsit" since "Whatsit" was taken by a 2003 account that seems to have been quickly abandoned. sad If you ever go by Whatsit's Profile you'll see Eirwyn calling him "Dad", and you'll see Whatsit's wife Fred, who isn't an account yet, only an avi edit, because Gaia doesn't have long ponytails).
And my third account is also one of my fictional characters, a little teddy bear I have that I named Sir Oscar the Bold who I have also done comics of in the past. These days he's mostly a champion of good and enemy of SIDS.

My main account, katybutterfly, is one of my many nicknames, because my name IRL is Katy (well, Kathryn really, but I never use that!), and I always have a butterfly somewhere on my person (ATM on my earrings and necklace)
This account, the reason for the butterfly is the same, but it's also in honour of my favourite actor (no prizes!).

I came up with Gigglemeister completely at random. I wasn't sure what to name this avi, I tried to base it's appearance after a character in a book I'm writing, but the name that character has is taken, her full name and nickname. The character's name is Elentari ,aka Tari.

My name here started out as rainpixie5 because I love rain, the "pixie" part sounded nice, and 5 is one of my favorite numbers.
I changed it to rainyeyes29 because I came here after a friend from IMVU (a site I've now abandoned) left there and came here, and I decided I wanted to have the screen-names the same. The original reason for having that was off another of my screen-names, rainlover29. I chose that original one because I love rain. I can stand out in rain and wind, shivering, for longer than a lot of people would. The number was just the number that felt nice at the moment.

My username is one of my many names. Lately my friends and I call eachother retards, because of the stupid things we do.
And I like rainbows. And my friend and I saw a rainbow on the way to our basketball game, so I dubbed myself Rainbow Retard.
My very first username was shortrachel123, named after an old Neopets account my other friend gave me. And yes, her name is Rachel as well.
But I loved it so much I used it when I made this account. Ew, that means I'm OLD.
So yeah. There you go.

I made mine up. Simple as that.
I was originally going to call myself Rose (no, not after the Rose we all know), but because a friend suggested it because it's a character name in .hack://legend of the twilight..
But Ceribri also sounds quite similar to Cerebro, for no reason whatsoever. (Cerebro is the machine in the X-Men movies)

Pirpi, short for Pirpintine (my usual interwebs name)
well, me and my friend YEARS ago. were bored, and make a lord of the rings cluedo game (as you do) and i was doing the cards (suspects, weapons etc) and when i was writing 'pippin' on a card, i wrote 'pirpin' ah good ole dyslexia. and after writing it i just though of terpintine (again, as you do) and thus, PIRPINTINE was born. that was back in 2003 or so. its been my name ever since.

I saw mine on a sticker and since I thought I was never going to use it again, I thought it was a perfect throwaway name...then I couldn't get enough gold to change it, now I'm afraid I would come up with a stupider name and noone would recognize it as me(weird paranoid thing i do)

Hmm, mine actually originated from a typo, I was going to call myself a freak but it ended out 'freaj' somehow. So... I turned it into a new genre of thing, so now I'm a freaj. But it really is getting a bit old, I planned to change it and such but I can't think of anything else really, and people know me as freaj on gaia so I guess I'll stick with it.

Taluria means "laughter" in a language I made up as a kid. So I guess I wanted to make people happy. That and I use this name on every website I'm on. If you see someone with this name, it's more than likely me.
