Ok, I think I posted this in another thread (well, I did say think, but anyway) and now I'm deciding to post this here in it's own thread since now the rumours are getting higher :O As soon as it's debunked, I will post so, but as it's confirmed, you'll have to forgive me if I don't tell you as I might have died and gone to heaven at that moment wink Anyway, here's some recent quotage, one of which (the most recent) enforces that age-old rumour of Billie Piper. Quote: Media Guardian reports that Jane Tranter, BBC Head of Fiction, is keeping the possibility of a Doctor Who film open. Tranter is quoted as saying, "I would not rule out a film version of Doctor Who, no." The article also discusses the future of the television series for the next several years, as previously revealed; however, Tranter suggests that David Tennant may remain in the role for Series Five in 2010. Quote: Ms Tranter also hinted that actor David Tennant, who plays the current Doctor, was likely to return to the role for a fifth series, even though he has agreed to play Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company next year. His decision means that the fifth series will not be shown until 2010, two years after the fourth series airs next year, effectively creating a "gap year" filled by three Doctor Who specials starring Tennant and overseen by head writer and executive producer Russell T Davies. Ms Tranter also refused to be drawn on speculation that Steven Moffat was being lined up as a replacement for Davies - who is believed to be on the verge of leaving the show - or that actor James Nesbitt was being lined up take over from Tennant. "All we can say is that David is a fantastic Doctor and that he is doing Hamlet," she said. And the more recent one; Quote: Rumors are circulating through the media of a forthcoming Doctor Who movie. Billie Piper, rumored to be set to return as Rose for series four, is now being cited as starring alongside current Doctor David Tennant in the film. "It's all been hushed up ... but yes, it's definitely happening," a source reportedly told the Daily Star. "David and Billie were a superb combination on the small screen, so it seems only right that they appear in the film." These reports are coming out following a statement made by BBC Head of Fiction Jane Tranter, who recently told Media Guardian that she is keeping the possibility of a Doctor Who film open. Tranter is quoted as saying, "I would not rule out a film version of Doctor Who, no." There has been no announcements regarding the return of Piper or a forthcoming film released by the BBC.

James Nesbitt? ....I think he could be too smiler to Eccleston for that to work well but I dunno... I just don't see how anyone could top Tennant. And that's not just being a Tennant fan either... I just think he has the right balance of dark and crazy that being around for that long, seeing what the doctor sees and stuff he would have. But yeah, if there is gonna be a movie; ten nao plz. mrgreen

I'd heard rumors about a DW movie... My dad told me - he supplies props for the BBC at times - about it a little while ago... But I didn't know that Series Five would come out in 2010. I expected it in 2009. :/ Does that mean that Torchwood will run for two years straight? If there is no Doctor Who to take over from it?

"Run for two years straight"?
It'll do what it's done before. One 13 episode series a year. One hopefully at the beginning of next year, and one before Doctor Who in 2010.
They practically MADE a movie already though. I count the 3 episode finale from last year as long enough to be made in to a movie XD

New speculation ... makes a freaking change from the news low we've hit lately! Quote: Various sources in the British media are today reporting fresh speculation about a potential Doctor Who feature film. A report in The Sun newspaper has suggested that series star David Tennant is negotiating with the BBC about starring in series five of Doctor Who in 2010, with the proviso that a feature film version of the series comes as part of the deal. The Sun's report quotes a "show source" as saying: "For ages, BBC Worldwide held the rights and were planning to make a movie, but it got held up and former BBC1 boss Lorraine Heggessey decided to bring back the TV series in 2005. But everyone is keen now and the fans are clamouring. Part of David’s conundrum is that he wants to do films, so this looks like it would solve both issues." The story has also been picked up by The Daily Telegraph, Metro, What's On TV and TeleText, amongst many others. It's the Sun ... not the most believable lately (seeing as they think the world's going to end rolleyes )

LOL! As if the world was going to end today! xd
As for the news, i agree totally. I've read a load of stuff lately about rumours of stuff beyond this years xmas episode. In my opinion, you can't believe everything you read and that includes Doctor Who news.

And to further prove The Sun's idiocy and how little it knows of Doctor Who Quote: The Sun is reporting that casting for the 2009 specials includes Catherine Tate, John Simm, Bernard Cribbins and Paul McGann. On September 8 it wrote that insiders had revealed that Tate, Simm and Cribbins would make returns. "Fans will be delighted to see Catherine back. She was one of the wackiest companions of all time and she brought heaps of humour. "And it’s great to have John back - he and David Tennant have a real nemesis chemistry." Donna's return would be in light of the events that occurred at the end of Series Four, in which the Doctor wiped her mind of all knowledge of him and of her adventures in order to save her life. The Sun's source commented: "Anything can happen in Doctor Who. His assistants are always recurring and Donna is no exception. When you’re a Time Lord you can go back to any point in history and meet whoever you want." And The Sun reported today that one of the specials would be a "flashback" tale that would feature the return of Paul McGann to the role of the Doctor, which he played on screen only once, in 1996. "Fans loved Paul’s Doctor and feel he was never given the proper chance to shine. Reference is often made to the Time War which wiped out the Time Lords and this will give them a taste of that," The Sun's source revealed. According to the story, flashback scenes will see him battered from the Time War and shorn of the long hair he had in the 1996 TV film. The bolded bit is not true. They CAN'T just freely do whatever the hell they like D: The Doctor tends to go back and observes (and then gets caught up in things but not changing history), he can't go back and change Donna's personal timeline ... I'm interested in the Paul McGann business, it's sort of suspicious.

Yep it definately shows how little they know about Doctor Who.
To be honest it's best to just wait to see what happens. Rather than speculate, although it's fun to do. xd sweatdrop
