-Shot for the stupid title-pun- Yep, decided to throw this out there. A roleplay for all the spotty gryphs that want to be involved. I figured that the fields would be the best place for any large gathering of gryphs and riders, where they could be without getting too much attention drawn to them from oh say, city law officials for disturbing the peace. I'll only toss in Nut here with her human Kita.
A loud squawk resounds from a large mass of black and charcoal fur as it bounds through the tall grass. Nut chirps again before crouching down, folding her wings onto her back as she continues her game of evade the human with her human Kita. The teen of course could see her, it wasn't all that difficult to spy a mass of black among all that gold and green foliage.
Kita looks around, shrugging his oversized navy overcoat more onto his shoulders as he walks through the tall grass. "Nut, where are you.." Of course he could see her, but it was more fun for his companion if she thought she was hidden. Really, the gryphon acted like she was still a chick sometimes.

Trill, out with Meshach for a walk, abandoned the man almost as soon as they were out of the city and flew ahead. Meshach seemed not to mind, and continued to walk where he would, allowing Trill to fly wherever he wished. Trill wished, truly, that he could be with Silence, but Silence was working, and he took up a lot of space in the yard, though usually she let him come to work with her.
Flying, he had no difficulty seeing the black she-griffin hiding in the grass below him, though a human being, being ground-bound, might have had some difficulty. He circled slowly to the ground and landed surprisingly softly for one of his considerable size.
He recognized the human and squawked with surprise.

The human continues to get closer to his griffon companion, but stops in his tracks when the other lands. He yelps, giving his own version of a squawk when the griffon makes that noise. Taking a few seconds, Kita seems to register that the male griff was also familiar to him. Though, he doesn't get much of a chance to say anything, as Nut bounded from her hiding place with a hiss at the male.
Nut was having a time hiding from her human, keeping her head low but ears perked. She was pleased he didn't seem to see her, but at hearing a squawk, and her human make that funny noise she darts out of hiding. Fluffing her feathers and hissing at the larger male, she makes herself as bit as possible to keep him back. To her it seemed he could be attacking her human. "Don't you touch my human!"

Snuggled deeply in the long soft grass of the field, rested a young gryph. This male was of wild nature, but had come to call himself Chrono. An ear twitched when he heard the grass sway differently, as if another was nearby. His red beak opened in a wide yawn, before he shook out his speckled pelt. Claws as red as his beak stretched out before he stood, no taller than the pale grass. It was difficult being a runt, almost as similiar in size to female gryphs. Sharp eyes scanned the field, and when the squawks were heard far off, he darted his form in that direction. More of his own kind to meet with? Unless they were dangerous adults, then he'd have to keep some safe distance. Quickly, the young male made to the location of the others, peeking for them behind a veil of grass.

Trill cocked his head to one side. He certainly had no intention of doing that. Touching her human, that is. He did, however, have to work to keep from showing his amusement at her attempt to seem larger. He was one of the largest griffins he had met, and there was only one female he'd seen that could even come close to his size - though she was, admittedly, very close to his size indeed. Tiamat, the humans called her?
I don't mean to touch your human, you silly thing, he said, a little indignant. But I've met him before. He was with a different griffin then.
Trill had also been younger, a mere adolescent. The griffin accompanying Kita at the time had been a full-grown adult of unusual coloring. Meji or Magi or some difficult name to pronounce. he didn't understand why humans insisted on calling their griffins by names the griffins themselves had difficulty pronouncing. Even Silence, who understood griffins so well, usually, had given him the difficult name Trill to contend with.
As the breeze shifted he caught the hint of a scent of another male griffin and it made his tail twitch some that he couldn't see the griffin, but he reasoned that he was large enough that most other griffins, even should they prove hostile, would have difficulty doing him any serious damage. It was good that Meshach wasn't around, though. He had a knack for provoking people into wanting to attack him.

Nut remains fluffed up, clacking her beak at the much larger male. She hisses a little bit again, before calming a little bit when Kita put his hand in her fur to try and calm her down.
"Nut, easy.. he's friendly!" Kita looks at Trill only a bit warily still. "..where's your friend, and the people you were wth? Uh..what did she say your name was again.."
Nut clicks her beak in annoyance, but her fur and feathers start to lay flat again, and she seats herself. Well if you weren't going to touch my human what do you want. She cocks her head to the side at smelling yet another griffon, but the larger one in front of her was intimidating enough to not take her eyes from him yet.

Trill continued to look affronted. It had never occurred to him to attack a human, or even allow a human who wasn't Silence to touch him without Silence's permission. Though he had only vague memories of the Eyrie now, having lived away from it for so long, he remembered that it was a terrible breach of ettiquette to allow another human who wasn't one's rider to touch one - or to touch a human who wasn't one's rider. The exception, of course, being if Silence gave permission, signalled that it was all right.
Trill understood none of what Kita said, but suspected it was directed at the female griffin anyway. Something about her was vaguely familiar, too. He was certain that Chade would have been able to tell him what it was at once, because the younger griffin was observant like that, but he, Trill, could only be bothered by the suspicion that he had seen the black griffiness before.
I was greeting him, he said stiffly.
He refrained from mentioning that her defense of her human, while admirable and really the only thing a griffin of good sense and breeding could do, was rather futile. It didn't seem the correct thing to say to her. Again, he wished Chade were present, because Chade always knew what to say, though he was rarely capable of saying it.

Fuzzy ear tips lifted as the voices grew nearer. But Chrono was confused; he had heard another sound besides the squawking. Was it another language? Sharp red eyes peered past the remaining strands of grass, soon catching sight of the speaking forms. Crouching his small body with tail swishing, the male prowled forward. He wouldn't just dive into the group, that would be insanity. A need to investigate was set in him that he couldn't ignore.
His two toned beak opened an inch, taking in the scents before him. Two gryphs, one male and one female. But what was that lanky creature next to them? And why were the gryphs so aggitated? Chrono pinned his ears as he stayed in the safety of the grass, though was now easily seen from the little clearing.

Trill flicked an ear in the direction of the younger griffin. He could see from the corners of his blue eyes that the newcomer was younger, and smaller, and therefore no real threat to him, though possibly a threat to the human the female seemed so intent on defending. The thought brought a griffin-smile to his features.
We have company, he said softly, indicating the adolescent male. And I think we got off to a bad start. I'm Trill.

Nut still seems a bit tense as she watches the male, but continues to let her human rub her feathers lightly. It did feel pretty good anyway. Cocking her head to the side a bit she turns her head towards the other griffin scent before looking to Trill again.
A short lapse of silence, and she clicks her beak once before nodding. My human calls me Nut.
Kita keeps his hand in Nut's neck feathers, watching Trill still a bit curious as to why he was there without his companions.

Trill nodded, copying the human gesture he had seen Silence make so many times that he had actually inferred its meaning, and even some of its derivational meanings. Actually, he had figured these things out about Silence before Chade had, which made him pleased, though Chade would only smile infuriatingly. He never picked fights with Trill, but sometimes Trill wondered if he would if he were a larger griffin.
Trill looked over one shoulder, making the gesture seem nochalant, and said to the younger griffin, Do you care to make yourself known?
What went unsaid was, "If not, stop lurking near me." The set of his body as he had spoken to the adolescent had added that sort of physical intonation to the vocalization.
He guessed that Meshach would be coming soon, and it would probably be better for the somewhat abrasive man not to run into a semi-wild or wild griffin.

Just what...were they doing with that other creature? Were they friends? White-rimmed eyes widened when the other Gryphs peered his way, no doubt aware of his spying. He couldn't help as his body when frozen, almost daring to dash off if any threat made itself known. The edges of his beak twitched in aggitation. Apparently, he was unneeded in this grouping. Besides, the other male already seemed on the territorial front. At least, that's what his own senses without social experience told him.
He was a wild gryph, too young to know much else of manners. Even to others of his own kind, he had only bonded with one. These before him weren't that one. They were no friends of his, only pushy adults. Giving a weak hiss, the runt boy turned tail to stalk through the tall leaves once again.
