Personality: Creseyda is fiercely independent, and treats her relationship with Mishu as more of a partnership. While she rarely fails to do what she is asked, she will take aggressive action if she believes she has to protect herself, Mishu, or any companions. She is restless and often will wander on her own for days at a time. However, while she is independent, she is also attached to Mishu, whom she considers a broodmate. She will always return to Mishu, usually with a deer, elk or other animal to share. History: Creseyda has always been Mishu's companion, from the time she was a chick. They have traveled together for years.Rider: Mishu Uzamaki Appearance: Mishu is relatively short, at about 5'4". She has medium-length dark hair -- slightly curly, and completely unmanageable -- and hazel eyes. She stays trim and maintains an athletic build. She doesn't spend a lot of time on her appearance, mostly because she's not very familiar with fashions. Her eyes are occasionally bloodshot because she has a habit of drinking too much from time to time. She carries three long knives in sheathes strapped to her left thigh. Shey typically wears worn, drab leather pants and vest over a white blouse. Personality: Mishu acts tough, and it's a question how sincere she is when she does so. She is fiercely loyal to Creseyda, and treats her as her friend more than her pet. She goes into a boiling rage when she sees women or griffins treated poorly, though she won't explain why. She doesn't like to use violence, but she has no problem cutting someone if that's going to be the only way to get things done. Mishu isn't an alcoholic, but she's borderline. She lives in a constant fear of becoming one, but loves her whiskey too much to stop drinking. Mishu desperately wants close friends, and is, from time to time, more than a little lovesick. She readily envisions herself falling in love with someone, though she's wise enough to realize when she isn't yet. The problem is she will not open up to people. She won't explain how she feels or anything about her past. She easily forms pleasant acquaintances, but it rarely comes to anything more. History: Mishu is a recent arrival at Xuan city, and hasn't explained to anyone where she came from. Her formal manners, and an apparent great deal of wealth, indicate familiarity with royalty or nobility, but she doesn't seem to be familiar with any of the local families. One thing is clear however, there is something in Mishu's past that she does not want to reveal. In a recent visit to a previously unknown village of griffin worshipers, her mind was almost read, and she reacted violently to the near revelation. All that was made known of the event was that is happened when Creseyda was only a chick, that Mishu was used to wearing fine clothing (supporting the royalty/nobility theory) and that it involved a man named Troilus and another woman. Clearly this has some distance in the past, but still has a deep emotional impact on Mishu.

Personality: Though still quite young, Mokono acts the part of the mother. She disapproves with loud squawks and flapping of wings when other chicks play rough or when she senses anger or arguing. She is constantly grooming other griffins -- and sometimes people -- she doesn't believe have taken care of themselves, whether they are older or younger than her. History: Mokono was raised by Mishu from the egg, but Mishu wasn't the egg's original owner. When Mishu first arrived in Xuan city she met a man in a bar. He was bragging about the quality egg he had just gotten, but he treated it as a bauble. He had it on the table where it was becoming stained with alcohol and was not kept warm enough. Mishu managed to avoid a fight, but stole the egg from him, knowing it woudl die if there was no intervention. She was found a few minutes later, but managed to talk her way out of it, the man being extremely drunk. Certainly he hasn't forgotten, but it appears that he was too stoned to remember who had taken the egg. Rider: Mishu (see above)

Personality: Dégas is very, very vain. Not that the griffin doesn't have cause. He's a well formed, beautifully colored griffin, bred and trained for show -- which means he's quite capable of a number of acrobatic feats both on land on air. He didn't have the temperament for shows, however. He's far too stubborn for that. Tegs seems to be the only one who can get him to do something when he has his mind set against it. His vanity notwithstanding, Dégas is not uncaring, and tries not to let his preoccupation with his grooming come at the expense of other griffins. He likes to associate with them, even when he's not the center of attention. History: Dégas was trained from the day he was hatched to be a show griffin. He was pampered even as he worked hard. But when it was determined that he just didn't have the temperament for show, he was given the Integrity, the only human he seemed to have any affection for. He and Tegs were always getting into trouble, and now they live and travel together. Rider: Integrity Daschall (A.K.A. Tegs) Appearance: Tegs is tall and slim, but well muscled. She has shoulder-length, dark auburn hair and deep green eyes. She wears dark leather pants and a bright green blouse that leaves her midriff exposed. It has long sleeves that don't quite reach her wrists. She always wears a belt loaded with small cases of darts for her mini crossbows, one of which is held at each hip. The holsters for these are fitted with a tiny device so she can hook the string on them and push, loading and readying the bow for firing. She's quite fast on the draw and often those who mean her harm have a dart stuck in them before they know what's happening. Reloading is a bit more of a hassle, however. She wears fingerless, red leather gloves come to her wrists. The outside edge by the pinky sports long tassles with tiny emeralds tied into them. She also wears boots, also red, and each has a sapphire studded on the outside. Personality: Tegs lives up to her red hair, with a quick temper and a passion for everything she does. She's enthusiastic and likes everyone to be happy. It's rare to find her not laughing, even when she's in trouble. Tegs thinks very little about the future, preferring instead to have fun, though she sometimes worries that this will come back to bite her in the a**. She's always trying something new and getting others to get into trouble with her. History: Tegs refers to her family from her early life as "dirt farmers." they were barely eking out an existence from the poor soil on a mountain side. That changed when Tegs found a sparkling green rock at the edge of one of the fields. Further exploration showed the family had been living the whole time on top of the largest and most pure emerald deposits ever found. As their mining and wealth expanded, they also found rubies and sapphires. Now rich, the Daschall home, previously a shack, grew quite large and comfortable, and they began breeding Griffins as a hobby. Dégas was given to Tegs on her 13th birthday, and is the only griffin she can truly call her own. Tegs maintains good relations with her family, though she is out on her own most of the time.

Personality: Curiosity is Sargon's defining trait. He has little to know sense of self preservation yet constantly investigates everything, be it an odd looking rock or the mouth of a giant dragon. Fortunately, Sargon is also lucky. so far, he hasn't suffered any major injuries from his antics, though he's come close quite frequently. This has given him something of an indestructible feeling. And it's not unusual to see him picking fights with larger griffins. Fortunately, he's small enough not to be a real danger and young enough not to know what real fighting is. History: Sargon was found as an egg. The other eggs in the clutch had been broken and the mother was missing. The man who found him, Rufus, managed to warm the egg back up and keep it self till Sargon hatched. He has accompanied Rufus ever since. Rider: Rufus Garron Killbird Appearance: Rufus sports a ginger colored goatee and mustache which he keeps trimmed close to the skin. It's noticeable as a mustache primarily because it's thicker than the stubble on the rest of his face that he doesn't shave often enough. His hair, also ginger, is longish and he keeps it tied in a ponytail that comes from the top of his head and falls down on the side of his head. He has wirey strength. His muscles can be seen in definition when he is shirtless, but are much less noticeable when he wears his loose fitting cotton tunic. He wears a belt around his cotton pants and another around his body, hanging from the shoulder. Both belts are heavy with pouches full of tools and odd bits of material and paper that Rufus has decided he doesn't want to lose or may need later. He carries a quarter staff shod with iron at both ends, which gets used for most anything besides a weapon. Personality: Rufus is obsessed with old things. Ancient things. He likes to explore and find remnants of lost civilizations. He has spent a large portion of his life in distant places away from people because of this. As a result, he's not very good at talking with actual people, especially women. He talks nonstop to Sargon, however. History: Rufus was raised by wolves. Or so he tells everyone. This, however, does not explain his fear of being eaten alive by wolves. In truth He was raised in a less than ideal home. His father was a thug, sometimes used by local thieves as an enforcer or mugger. Dad used to his Rufus and his mother, but not so much that they were ever permanently hurt. And he always put food on the table, so they lived as a close family till Rufus was 14, when he moved out. He has since heard that both his parents died as the result of a criminal reprisal, but he hasn't been back home yet. Ten years now since leaving home, Rufus has started to get a little fame and recognition for his explorations and discoveries. Though he hasn't found a way to capitalize on this minor celebrity status. Earlier this year Rufus was scaling a cliff where he thought to find a cave network once inhabited. He didn't find it, but he did stumble on to a griffin nest. The mother was gone long enough that the only egg still in tact was starting to grow cold. So he slipped it into his back, took it back to camp, and kept it warm until it hatched. He's not sure what to make of Sargon, being relatively unfamiliar with raising animals -- though he does realize that he spends MUCH more at the butcher than he used to. He's tried using Sargon as a sort of small pack animal, but Sargon hasn't taken well to this, and it has ended in disaster every time.
