The time was drawing near, that time being Anlach and like any other stag, Brychan had been slowly migrating closer to the hinds in the herd. He'd already been looking around for any potential mates to add to his harem, and the searching continued. And now that he had recently been promoted to Captain, he hoped he would catch the eye of a few more hinds this year, than last. True, he was already doing well for himself with three... but why stop there? He was a successful Outrider and a proud father.

Brychan had been getting a little more bold when walking amongst the other stags as well as the hinds. The impending Anlach causing hormones to flow and while Brychan wasn't usually the type to flaunt... well... there was now a certain swagger in his step. His head held high to show off his crown of antlers. Both to impress the girls, as well as to let the other males not to mess with him.

The voice easily caught Brychan's attention and the starry pelted stag turned his head and flicked his ears forward. The source having obviously come from one of the hinds nearby. Had she been talking to him? Brychan glanced around, and it seemed like nobody else had paid any attention. Thus, a smile came to Brychan's face and he started to walk in her direction.

"Hello" he called out in a warm greeting, managing to pinpoint which hind it was since she was looking directly at him. And he had to admit, from first glance... she was a good looking hind. Very pretty, and she seemed to be fit and healthy. Thus, he was most certainly interested.

Having noticed her stare, he chuckled lightly in amusement, and returning her kind smile. "I'm doing well" he admitted, inclining his head to look at the sky and the fields beyond. "Herne has blessed our herd with good weather and good food." They certainly were well off, this herd was. And really.. Brychan couldn't be happier. What with his recent promotion, and all.

He looked back to the hind, "And how about you? By the way, my name is Brychan." The stag dipping his antlered head in a respectful greeting to the lovely hind. His ears tilting forward as he anticipated her next words, which would hopefully include her own name.

And before they knew it, Anlach would arrive, and then winter. Obviously, the winter was the most harsh time of year, but he felt the herd would make it through just fine. Hopefully this Anlach, there would be many more younglings among the herd, including his own. It seemed that Aridana was not the only one that missed the idea of calves and fawns running around. His own were growing up quite fast.

Brychan smiled and nodded his head, for it was true the herd hadn't been attacked in awhile.. and that was good. But well... all good things come to an end, and the outriders were there to see that through. When she gave his name, he dipped his head again, "The pleasure is mine, Aridana... and I'm glad to hear you are doing well." He didn't get to speak with hinds very often, not until Anlach came about. "Do you have any family?" he then asked curiously, wanting to know more about this lovely lady.

Blink blink. "Ronno's your son?" he asked, certainly not having expected that. He had met Ronno once... was quite a promising stag actually. He smirked lightly as he thought of then, the young buck recently turned outrider. He'd already had a fine head of antlers, he was sure that he would attract a hind or two this year. "He's a fine stag." And that was the truth, for he had gotten a good impression from him.

Brychan then chuckled and nodded, "I do actually... two daughters and a son. Islywyn is my son and my daughter Tempest, their mother is Telyn... and Lyith is my other daughter, her mother being Loreena." Although he hadn't seen Lyith and Loreen in some time. He was quite proud of them, and he wasn't afraid to show it. He was hoping to make his family even larger this Anlach. And well... that was the primary reason he was walking around so close to the hinds and stopping to talk to them. But... if Aridana had a son... did that mean she was claimed? Well it wasn't like he couldn't challenge her stag.

Brychan chuckled, "Well.. not as large as some, but I am proud of them. I'm hoping to make it larger this year, infact. A few more sons would be nice, not that I don't love my daughters as well." Islwyn was currently his only son.. and well.. the best way for a stag to spread his legacy was by having many male offspring. Islwyn was a good boy, but he would need a lot of discipline as he got older, and Brychan hoped to be a good mentor to him.

"So... if you have a son, you must have a stag was well. A fine one at that, to have fathered Ronno." He wasn't trying to be nosey, but Brychan was curious who Ronno's father must be. The hind hadn't mentioned him yet, thus the question.

Brychan was silent for several moments, regreting even that he'd even brought it up, but well... it was too late now.

"I see... I'm sorry" he said softly, his ears turning backward, "That must be hard for you." He couldn't imagine what it must be like, to lose your mate. The thought of losing Telyn, well.. it frightened him. He did his best to serve as an Outrider, mostly for her sake. He wanted to protect the herd... but her and their children most of all.

He didn't really know what else to say. He wondered what would happen to Telyn if something happened to him.

It was nice... to have a family, and well, Brychan wanted to expand on that family. He mustered a smile when she said it was alright, although it really wasn't. He didn't know who her stag was, but he was sad for her just the same.

"Well... I know that I could never replace your stag, but I was wondering, if you would like to join my family. In otherwords, if you would care to stand with me this Anlach." To him, she seemed a little lonely, and well... she didn't really have to be. It was of course.. her decision, and he wouldn't press the issue.
