Amaroq was tense, nervous, and just plain irritable. His mother's temper plainly bled through when he was stressed, and he was certainly stressed now. He hadn't seen Naina in days (or was it weeks?) and the lack of her presence was starting to worry him. Pair that up with the split of his sire and dam, and it made for a rather twitchy stallion.
One that was, currently, thrashing through the forest with very little care for the amount of noise he was making. If anything, it was a distraction from his worries.

Ooh, she had had a horrible week. Her 'mother' and herself, had actually fought. Had brought hoof and teeth upon each other. Each little purple discoloration and raised welt said a different story.
She hadnt seen Amaroq, in much too long. His lack of being there, made her week even worse.
Her life didnt have lots of stability, but she had wanted him to be part of her unstable life.. Something of which, she felt she hadnt given him enough time. She shook her head. No. If he was serious about her, then her being away wouldnt make him turn his eyes to another. If that happened, she might just die.
Be a perfect way to end her terrible week though. That, was for sure.
She walked slowly, trying to keep her head high, even though it hurt to high heaven. It was hard. This life of hers was hard. And she never wanted to fight again. Even though Marahute had gotten hers, Naina didnt like feeling in pain, because she preferred to cause it in that case.

As Amaroq continued to stomp along on his merry little way, the sound of another set of hooves started to mingle with his own and caused him to come to a halt with pricked ears. Who...? Icy blue eyes flickered around until they came to rest upon a familiar creamy blue and tan mare. Relaxing, the coal-dark stallion let out a breath he hadn't even known he'd been holding. He took a step forward before pausing again as his ears laid back slightly. "Naina...what's happened?" Reaching out, he nudged at one of her bruises.

The stallion that had been in her thoughts corporealized before her. She gave a sigh, and smiled. At least he was here, and she saw him and could have him with her.
"Oh Amaroq." She said nuzzling him, careful of the hoofprint that resided above her left eye.
"I have had a terrible week."
Her eyes were sad, and her words were almost broken. Pausing, she looked back at him.
"What ails you love?"

"What ails me? I've been worried, that's what..." Drawing back a little, the dark stallion looked at Naina searchingly. "Terrible week, that much is obvious, but...what happened? You look like you've been through s**t." He winced at his own bluntness, but it needed to be said. Naina just couldn't make him worry like this and then walk up without telling him why.

Naina offered a smile.
"Oh darling, dont fret much. Im fine. Marahute, my old mother.. She and I, finally came to an understanding."
She shook her head, picking her words wisely. He would know their meaning.. but she was too much a lady to say they had fought. She could never admit to that!
"Dont worry about me Am. Im fine."

Amaroq's face twisted. Intellectually he knew she was just trying to be strong for him, but emotionally it felt like a rejection. "With bruises and scrapes? I've fought with my mom, but we've never looked like we tried to actually kill each other afterward." With a sigh, he shook his head. "It just doesn't work that way, Naina. I care. I'm going to worry. All an evasion will do is frustrate me."

She felt his anger, and she instantly regretted not coming out with it to begin with it sooner.
"Marahute and I fought, and if daddy hadnt stepped in the way.. I might have killed her Amaroq.. I had never felt this fury.. this.. anger. I felt.."
She squinched her eyes and lowered her head.
"Hurt."
She looked back at Amaroq and nuzzled him thoughtfully.
"Im sorry."

All Amaroq could do for a moment was blink rapidly, stunned.
Well.
If that wasn't a shock, he wasn't sure what was. Amaroq's mind was in disarray now, whirling with so many thoughts, so much confusion... The mare he was starting to fall for had attacked one she thought of like a mother-no, had tried to kill her. Freely admitted that if it hadn't been for her father, she might have succeeded. Would she turn on him the same way?
Amaroq tried to hide the doubt in his eyes. But...he was afraid that he was failing.
"Naina, I...I don't know what to say...what should I say? What should I do?"

Naina saw teh look in his eyes, and her heart sank.
Ears lowered, she looked at teh ground. This wasnt what she needed at all.
"I..I wouldnt do that to you Am.. Never."
Her heart ached with her words.
"But if it is too much for you to bear..I wont be selfish and hold you back.."
A tear slid down her cheek, but she quickly shook her head to rid of it

He couldn't go. Looking at her, knowing the pain it would cause to them both, he couldn't do it. He cared for her, he was falling for her, and more importantly...despite what she had done, he would trust her. Until the day she tried to strike him down he'd trust her. Hell, by then he'd probably let her. With this decision in mind, it felt like a weight lifted from the dark grey stallion's shoulders. Stepping forward, he laid his head over her neck. "I'm staying."
That was all he said. It was all that needed to be said.

Rejection from a parent, was hard. Rejection from both mothers? Thats even worse, and Naina had gone through it. She wasnt a violent mare, but Marahute had brought the anger out in her and fast.
Looking at Amaroq in disbelief, she gave a weak smile. He would stay? Knowing the atrocity of which she had done? She wasnt falling for the stallion, no. She already had fallen for him, and his words made her feel that she loved him now..
This was love. Love didnt run. Love stayed and kept you grounded. Was there for you when you needed.
"Amaroq.. I..'' She tried to will herself to say her thoughts, but she worried what the dark stallion would say, especially as uncertain as he seemed to be. But he hugged her, despite being doubtful, and her heart swelled.

"It's okay."
Amaroq was content to just hold Naina close and relax, letting his turmoil fade. His dam was strong, she could take care of herself, and Naina was here and safe. What more could he ask?
Just one thing...
"Please don't worry me like that anymore? You'd turn me into a nervous little mouse, and you wouldn't want that." He grinned. "Or would you?"

Naina smiled, nuzzling the stallion who had won her heart. She loved how he treated her, and shaking her head, she spoke.
''I dont want a little nervous little mouse. I want a strong, brave stallion to keep me safe."
She knew she was perfectly capable of keeping herself safe, but she liked the thought of having someone there just in case.
''How is your mother fairing?" She asked. She had heard somehow about Helaku and his mother.. She was sure it was because Micah had said something about it when she'd last seen him.
She nuzzled him again.
''How are you fairing?"

"Now that I've found you again, I'm good." Amaroq smiled and nuzzled Naina fondly. His bond with the softly colored mare was growing, and he hoped that he wasn't making a foolish decision. Despite his arrogance and asshattery, the dark stallion did have a heart, as vulnerable to being broken as anyone else's. It was why he gave her the benefit of the doubt...after all, wouldn't he want her to do the same? Would he want her to dispose of him after finding out he'd been in a brawl?
Most definitely not.
But he did want to see if maybe she'd stay a little closer, so he could find her more easily. Not chain her down, no, he wouldn't interfere with her freedom if she insisted on keeping it. But just...see her a little more often.
"Naina..." He began, looking almost humble in rare moment. "I was wondering...would you like to stay a little closer to me?"
