Reminds me of beauty and the beast.
As I'm siting there watching it reading subtitle I though "This is really pretty-but if it were in English it would suck"

There is an English version of the play, well a UK version, and apparently the lyrics really do utterly suck.
"You'd never get away with all this in a play! But if it's loudly sung and in a foreign tongue it's just the sort of story audiences adore. In fact, a perfect opera!"
