The Man of Steel Returns!
Smallville tells the tale of the teenage years of our favorite farm boy Clark Kent, who is one day destined to become Superman. The handsome Tom Welling plays Clark. The CW 11’s Smallville ended its sixth season with an edge-of-your-seat cliffhanger. Half the characters were facing death; one dead, one being arrested, and Clark facing off with his own clone! How did the season lead up to this? Season 6 of the hit television series began with Clark escaping the Phantom zone, and releasing dangerous Zoners at the same time. Throughout the season Clark fights various Zoners, with his sidekick/best friend Chloe helping him every step of the way. Alongside all the action, the drama of Clark’s love life plays out. Lana Lang, his high-school sweetheart, is dating his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. This love triangle deepens the rivalry between the former friends. Clark is devastated by Lana’s wedding to Lex; but she was blackmailed into it with a fake pregnancy and by Lex’s father, Lionel. The producers also have some fun with the Lois and Clark saga with a truly entertaining episode. Justin Hartley plays Oliver Queen; the hunky billionaire orphan who dates Lois, while also being the Green Arrow in disguise. Aaron Ashmore plays Jimmy Olsen; the adorable, aspiring photographer at the Daily Planet where he falls for Chloe. Some highlights of the season include the venture into Lex’s past, Clark’s discovery of his wind breath, the justice league, and Chloe being revealed as a meteor freak. The season 6 finale, Phantom, left us with Lana leaving Lex and later dying in a car explosion. We said goodbye to Martha Kent, Clark’s mom, as she leaves for Washington D.C. to be a senator. Clark fights the last Zoner, which replicates his DNA and becomes a clone. The fight damages the dam, trapping Lois who wakes up healed after being stabbed to find an unconscious Chloe. Lionel is also trapped and Lex is arrested for Lana’s murder. The least scene shows Clark & his clone exploding out of the dam.
Season 7 premiered on September 27th, continuing Clark’s battle with his clone called Bizarro. Clark uses his powers magnificently throughout the episode, saving people just in the nick of time, and eventually defeating Bizarro. Chloe is pronounced dead, but miraculously she wakes up in the morgue. Lex is rescued by Kara (aka Supergirl), after his car is swept into the river. The scene between Bizarro and Lois is a laugh-out-loud moment, as he checks her out and then she slaps him. Tom’s acting in this double-role premiere was exceptional. Lana is revealed to be alive in China, near the end of the episode. Kara is shown in the last scene flying off, leaving us in anticipation for the next episode. The theme song was redone with new clips, including the addition of Aaron and Laura to the main list of cast members. Some upcoming features of the new season include more of Kara, the return of Oliver and Jimmy, and several new guest stars. The guest stars include Michael Cassidy (who played Cliff on the short-lived Hidden Palms), Eva Pigford (America’s Next Top Model), Dean Cain (of Lois & Clark), Helen Slater (former Supergirl), and Jovanna Huguet (“Bloody Mary” on Supernatural). The man-hunter who assisted Clark in the premiere will be back, along with Brainiac who was played by James Marsters. A Christmas themed episode is also anticipated. As the series continues, the fans are left to wonder about different aspects of the story. How is Lana still alive, and how will she return to Smallville? What will Lex do when he finds out Lana is alive? Will the Clana relationship ever get another chance? How will Kara play a role in the lives of the characters? What else lies in store for Clark as he embraces his destiny? If this is the last season, how will it end? Tune in to find out, Thursdays on the CW 11 at 8pm!

It's a fairly solid piece of writing although I have a couple of suggestions -- "but she was blackmailed into it with a fake pregnancy and by Lex’s father, Lionel." This is slightly ambiguous; you might want to clarify that it was apparently Lex who was faking the pregnancy and that Lionel had ulterior motivations (like, when doesn't he). "The producers also have some fun with the Lois and Clark saga with a truly entertaining episode." Again, slightly ambiguous -- you should name the episode and give a minor plot summary (I assume you're talking about "Crimson", but most of the people who read your article probably won't). Also you might want to break it up into a few more paragraphs. I'd lay it out like: Quote: Smallville tells the tale of the teenage years of our favorite farm boy Clark Kent, who is one day destined to become Superman. The handsome Tom Welling plays Clark. The CW 11’s Smallville ended its sixth season with an edge-of-your-seat cliffhanger. Half the characters were facing death; one dead, one being arrested, and Clark facing off with his own clone! And on a style note, I think I saw an ampersand ("&") in there -- you should always type out "and" in articles. And finally... "Will the Clana relationship ever get another chance?" XD

Will the Clana relationship ever get another chance?
I have major problems with this sentence. Not all of which are professional. xd
Clana - Seems a little too informal for a newspaper article, and not everyone knows that Clana means Clark/Lana smooshed together. It is more a fandom type of term.
Here is when we start ranting.
Relationship - Not exactly what I would call Clana.
Another - As in there have been other before.
Chance - No, they have had chances and even when they didn't they seemed to find a way to mack on eachother.
It is a good article. I don't see why it would be in a school newspaper though. confused I mean, Smallville isn't that big of deal compared to other shows like Heroes or Bionic Woman.

Well, in a school newspaper you have a little freer reign to write about what you want. If Clue wants to promote SV... more power to her. I mean, the CW isn't doing it.

Too true. I wish my school newspaper would do this kinda stuff but they are too busy reporting about culture. xp
But I swear the whole Clana thing is bias! I mean how come there isn't a "Will the Clois relationship ever get started?" dramallama

lol lana xD
maybe some people wont understand the term "clana" but i think they can put two and two together 3nodding otherwise i'll explain to anyone who asks me :] well its true that smallville isnt as popular as some other show persay sweatdrop *killed a bit of me to say that* Dx
but we were allowed to pick topics after the big things were covered, so i decided to do some media advertising. :] harry potter was taken already, otherwise i would have done that xD
i tried to make it sound as minimally dorky as possible, but i'm not sure i completely succeeded at doing that stressed oh well xD

I promise, if you put Clana, it will sound dorky.
If you start using smooshed up words that represent couples like Lexana, Clois, Chlark for instance or things like Kataango (katara and aang dance) or Maikout (Mai and Zuko kiss) then it will sound dorky!
Sorry for the avatar stuff, I just find it soo funny that I had to shove it in there.

um. I'm editor of my school newspaper. and I know this is late, but i'll proof read your article and highlight somethings to work on. Especially when it comes to something that you are so used to writing in an imformal way.
EDIT: I proofed one page of your story so far. and um. judging by your technique (or lack of) i'm beginning to think that your newspaper advisor is a) clueless b) lazy or c) not a professional. but i have a lot of improvements and corrections you may need to work on for your future articles.

thanks chloe for totally killing my self-esteem xp JK i know i suck, but constructive criticism is a good thing :3
i didnt get any advice or anything...i kinda just wrote it. i went back through previous editions of the newspaper and tried to figure out what i need to improve on. I think I need to make connections with the reader and also cut some details.
Next time I write something, you and mary can tell me what i should do. :]

well here are some tips:
1) Don't write in LONG paragraphs. write in short ones. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with one sentence paragraphs.
2) what your LA teachers taugh yu about constructive writing means bupkis is the journalism world. Don't get fancy get to what you need to know
3) Don't EVER use slang! Colloquial dialog can lose your reader if they have no idea what you are talking about
4) add sarcasm but DO NOT OVER DUE IT!
5) When you're writing reviews like you did, you want to look at both negative and positive aspects. Perfection is something we have yet to reach. for editorials, news, features, and such you need at LEAST 2 sources.
i have more things on the paper. i'll finish it later.

I mostly agree with what you said, Chloe, but I assumed Clue's school paper would be more like mine than a professional paper (my editor would print almost anything that was remotely interesting).
For slang, I disagree that you should never use it. It's something you have to judge based on the word and the context and whether your target audience would understand it. In a hard news story, you only use slang if it's in a direct quote, but in a feature you can be a lot more informal and chattier -- you can also write in slightly longer paragraphs.
In a review, you don't really need to quote sources (by sources I assume you mean people), although you can add colour by quoting the material itself.
