The autumn breeze caught Adrienne's mane, the long hairs blowing around her face before she twisted into the wind. With a swift snap of her teeth, she caught a fallen leaf out of the air as it whirled past her nose and grinning let it go again with a little 'pfft' sound. The wind caught it just before it fell to the ground and she watched it for a moment, then carried on wandering towards the lake.

It was a pleasant day; sun was out, wind was fresh but not cold enough to make one shiver. Like her siblings before her, she had left her family herd once she had hit adulthood and had gone travelling, but as the seasons had turned, she had gotten a longing to see her parents again and had come home. Today however she had gotten her fill of family time and wanted company of a different sort - she wanted to meet someone new who didnt want to keep asking after when she was going to meet a nice stallion and settle down!

At the banks of the lake she stopped, and looked out across the water. There didnt seem to be anyone here but she was thirsty and she lowered her head, dipping her mouth into the cold liquid and took a drink.

Trotting down the beaten dirt path in the woods near his home, the older black stallion enjoyed the sensation of movement in the cooler air. Autumn was finally returning, wasn't it? Quite a blessing for those with darker coats like his daughter and herdmates.

Tossing his head and freeing his vision of the braids his mane decided to fling into his face with every few moments, he continued on the path. His mind flicked over the possibilities of what he could do today. He could spend the day alone, of course, or he could visit his daughter, or really just...find someone to talk with.

Privately, though, the thought that anyone outside of his family would want to spend time with him made him want to chuckle for reasons he was hardly willing to discuss.

Adrienne hiccuped, standing up straight and shaking her head. The pendant around her neck bounced gently on her chest and then settled again. She let out a little noise of disappointment; she'd have thought that a watering hole this big would have at least one Soquili other then herself visiting it.

She moved off the bank, heading away from the lake and moving from the open area into a more wooded area. Winding through the trees was a path of sorts, well trodden and the scent hung of other Soquili's hung heavy on the air around here. In fact she was sure that there was someone approaching her. She stopped, ears atwitch and waited for whoever it was to come into view.

Continuing his trot down the dirt path, Kale tried to think of some way to entertain himself...and as usual, came up with nothing that would entertain him for more than an hour or so. He honestly needed to find some sort of hobby.

Nostrils flared, taking in the scents of autumn; the rotting, dead leaves, the ripening apples...the other soquili that traveled the path...He paused, slowing for a few steps as he attempted to identify a few.

Picking up the pace again, he let out a sigh and flicked his tail. One thing was for sure, he may not have been able to recognize most of the scents, but there was someone ahead of him; someone who wasn't moving. Would he finally be able to converse with another person once again? It would certainly be a nice change...

Adrienne soon realised that the other Soquili didnt seem too willing to come swiftly forwards.
'Can't stand here all day..' she spoke under her breath and trotted on down the path so that she could see who it was she had scented. She stopped again when the stallion had come into view, one foreleg up in the air as her soft brown eyes raked over him.
'Hello.' she said, remembering her manners and placing all four hooves on the ground so that she could make an elegant curtsey of sorts, her head arching downwards.

Kale slowed abruptly as a mare came in to view, his eyebrows raising slightly in surprise. Moving forward enough that they both could speak comfortablely (shouting at each other down the lane was hardly polite and appropriate) he echoed her cutrsey with a bow of his own head, his lips twitching slightly. Most of the younger generations--for he could see she was younger than him but at least two years--did not act so polite.

"Good Morning," He answered in greeting, braided tail flicking at one of the few insects that remained alive in the early autumn. "It's a pleasure to meet you, miss." He offered her another smile, not wanting to seem ill at ease or uncomfortable and hoped she did not feel that way as well.

Adrienne had impeccable manners; mostly thanks to her parents, who were both polite when it came to greeting others. She let her gaze flicker over the stallion once more, a quick motion, accompanied by a tilt of her head to one side as she regarded the older Soquili thoughtfully.

'Good morning to you as well. My name is Adrienne..' she let the end of her sentence dangle, hoping he would see the prompt for what is was, and supply is own name in return.

"And my name is Kale," He replied, finishing the the sentence, a gentle smile on his lips. His braided tail flicked lazily as he regarded the young mare appreciatively.

"It's a quite a lovely day today, isn't it?" He asked, and not just to provide idle conversation. He was enjoying how pleasant the day was and if she was enjoying it as well, would that not be grand? If it wasn't so lovely her then it was a pity, but there were always other avenues of conversation.

Adrienne tossed her mane, the autumn wind catching the hairs once more and she smiled at Kale through the whirling strands.

'A lovely day, not too fresh, not too warm,' she agreed in a light, slightly flirtatious tone. She realised that he had to be at least old enough to be her father, but he was still attractive, and what was the harm in letting him know that?
'You're out alone?' she peered around, half expecting to see at least one mare with him; after all, her mother and father were pretty inseperable lately, so much so that she hadnt seen either for good while.

A chuckle and a slight inclination of his head was given, amused by her tone, "I wonder how many more of these days will appear, as winter seems to be approaching quite fast," He mused softly, truly wondering just how many pleasant days there would be, before it would be preferable to simply remain inside and by the fire.

A single white eyebrow rose in question for a moment but he nodded a reply, "I am, sadly," his expression turned woeful, "I am afraid that somehow I am not the company a mare seems to enjoy." He was only teasing, he probably could speak with or enjoy any mare's company he pleased, but he hadn't exactly been...actively searching.

Adrienne gave what could only be called a shrug;
'Well I'm no oracle, so I wouldnt like to say.' she giggled softly.
'It will be my first winter, so I hope there will be snow like the mountains get.'

She looked at him with something bordering on disbelief;
'Oh come on, how could you say that?' she flicked her ears at him.
'I am sure you could have your pick, I mean if that's something you would want.' she didnt know too many stallions, her brothers, and her father mostly. Her father was a shining beacon of monogamy, faithful and adored her mother.

A soft chuckle escaped him and he shrugged his shoulders, slightly surprised that she was young enough to have not seen winter. He had thought she was older than that, but one learned something new every day, hmm?

Another laugh and he shook his head, "Ha, ha, I suppose I could if I really did search for it," He replied, a smile gracig his lips, "But one could say I've been both uninterested and lacking the interest for such until as of late." What could he say other than the truth?

'Did you want to walk?' Adrienne asked, with an inviting toss of her head. It seemed a bit silly to just be standing there, and she was getting a little stiff in the legs.

'Oh..' she said, her nose wrinkling as it did when she wasnt completely sure what to say. It seemed a little sad that he was uninterested in relationships, but there was more to life after all; family, friendships, exploration and adventure to name but a few.

'What do you like to do then Kale?' she asked, turning a little to face back the way she had come.

"That would be lovely," He responded after a moment of surprise, dipping his head once, "If, of course, you would be offering to accompany me on such a walk?" He canted his head a bit a smiled at her in a playful manner; nothing coltish or immature, merely an attempt at good humor.

His expression softened, and he offered a soft smile, "It's a complicated matter, I wouldn't want to bother you with such. I apologize."

"Do?" He repeated, uncosciously shifting to follow and keep in step with the younger mare, "Ahhh, that's difficult. I don't do much of anything. Wander around the land, bother my daughter and her mate. Play with the little ones...mostly activities involving family, I guess." His green eyes flicked toward her, curious himself, "And you? What do you like to do?"

'No, I thought I'd let you walk off on your own, and I'll go the other way.' she quipped with a grin.

'I would happily go with you if you feel that you can put up with my company.' Adrienne gave her mane a little flick, before moving off.

'Really? Well, I will respect your privacy, I wouldn't want to be seen to be prying. I've always been told that a problem shared is a problem halved so if you did want to talk about it..' she let the end of the sentence tail off, so that Kale knew that if he did get to the point where he felt comfortable enough to speak, she would listen.

'You're a father? Wow..you really don't seem old enough to be one.' she said, looking sidelong at him, flirting for real this time. So what if he was possibly as old as her own father? He was soft spoken and attractive. She smiled inwardly at her thoughts.
'Me? I like visiting my increasingly large family and travelling. I love to see new places, and meet new Soquili's.'
