The normally bright grin the ebon' and azure stallion wore was brighter than usual, cerulean hues sparkling as he sped across the empty hillsides, the terrain becoming more and more familiar as he neared his destination. The months he had spent there with his happy little family were fresh in his mind... always happy times, and he was eager to see that place again- to see her again. It had been weeks... he wasn't quite sure how long, he'd never been one for keeping track of time- perhaps even months? In any case, he could hardly wait to lay eyes upon his mother again.

Rounding a corner and skidding through the dirt gracelessly, Nahuel grinned as he stumbled, regaining his balance as he continued running, speeding up even as the small teepee came into view. Unable to contain his excitement any longer, he called out, voice bright and joyful.

"Momma!"

Inside the large teepee crystal eyes opened and the mare they belonged to nearly choked on her apple breakfast. She new that voice. In a flurry of blue legs and curls she had risen and was practically racing for the opening in the front. "Nahuel!!!" She cried feeling tears springing to her eyes. She hadn't seen her other son for so long, eternities it felt. She pushed herself out of the teepee and her glistening, tear-filled eyes fell on the blurry form of her long haired son galloping her way. "My boy!" She cried rushing out to meet him.

Curls tangled with long locks as she lay her head on his black back. This feeling was wonderful. It was so good to see her family, the scarcity of their visits only made them more special. "It's been so long since I've seen you." She said pulling back. "And look at you. Shining like the midday sun. "I can't imagine
even you being so happy to see your mother. What's happened?"

Skidding to an ungraceful halt before the small dwelling, Nahuel almost fidgeted in his impatience as he heard her race for the door. "Momma!" Beaming brightly at her own enthusiastic greeting, he nuzzled into her embrace and offered her a happy grin. "Aww, I'm always happy to see you, Momma! I'm sorry I haven't been around as much- Dad misses you too."

He grinned sheepishly at her compliment, nosing an azure curl away from her face as he had often seen his father do. "And you look pretty as ever, Momma. Has Ayden been driving you as crazy as I drive Dad?" His smile was almost proud at this comment- he did have fun driving his father up the wall sometimes.

Lunathiel was pleased to hear that her mate was doing well and truthfully she missed him dearly as well. It was times like these, however, that she knew all her attention could not lie on Shadow. She had her boy with her right now and that was all she needed to think about. With that thought in her mind she simply nodded kindly to the good news and moved on. "No no, Ayden's wonderful I don't think he could drive me crazy even if he wanted to. And you couldn't either." She gave him a smirk as if daring him to challenge that. She loved her children and there was no way in the world they would ever make her lose it.

"Enough about your father." She said nudging his side with a smile. "Tell me about you. How are you doing? Tell me you're giving more people then just Shadow hell. You're just waisting your talents if that's it." She was a bad influence on her children and she knew it. It hardly mattered though, someone saying 'go have fun in whatever way' was better then no one being there at all.

"Oh, really?" he teased, one eyebrow raising in an incredulous expression as he offered her a challenging grin. "That sounds like a challenge to me. Maybe I should talk to Ayden. We could work out some way to prove you wrong." Of course, he was only teasing- he loved his mother like no other, he would never seek to cause her distress... not on purpose, anyway.

He snickered at her prod and comment about his 'talents'. Only she could be proud of him for something as useless as being able to pester someone to the point of insanity. "No, Dad isn't the only one... although I s'pose I've been driving other people crazy in a slightly different way." He paused here, a flush arising on his dark features as their conversation turned back to the reason that he had come here. He shifted uncomfortably, wondering how to broach the subject, as he offered his mother a sheepish smile.

"Actually, that's kind of the reason I came to see you. Not that I need a reason to come see you, I really did miss you, and am happy to see you..." he started babbling in his nervousness, as was a frequent habit in his uneasiness.

Lunathiel couldn't help but laugh at her son. "If you can get Ayden to go against Amey's wishes and try to annoy me then I'd have to let it work. That would take some serious skill." She smiled softly giving him a playful nudge. "So who else are you tormenting?" She was still giving him a teasing smile but seeing him shift and flush like that made her wonder.

It was time to play a mom again.

Her features softened into what she called her understanding face. "I'm glad you missed me. I am, but you know, if you have a problem you can tell me and we can skip the teasing." She smiled and took a few steps backwards to get a better look at her son. She'd been told that mothers could always tell what was wrong just by looking at their children. She couldn't see how. All she could tell was that Nahuel was nervous about something. She wasn't sure if he was expecting her to guess what it was but wasn't she supposed to?

Now what bothered boys most? She thought to the stallions in her teepee for answers. Xantir was always worrying over the past and that Aeris would leave him because of it, Dark worried over Scarlet's progress and his treasures being found, then Ayden was always on about girls being insane. There wasn't a link anywhere it seemed, she failed at being a mother. "So...what's bothering you?" She finally asked sounding a bit defeated.

He noticed her oddly sad tone of voice, his features softening into an expression of compassion. "Aww, Momma, don't be sad. It's nothing bad, I promise." He offered her what he hoped was a reassuring smile, nuzzling under her chin gently, as he had once witnessed his father do. "It's just, ah... well, I met this amazing mare..." he shifted nervously again, a flush rising on his dark features.

He wasn't exactly sure how to broach this subject with his mother, of all people, but he was sure she wouldn't take it badly. "Well, to be honest, I kinda fellinlove," he let the words tumble out in a rush, as he tended to do when he was nervous... but at least he didn't stutter, as Roxanne often teased him for. "I was hoping you might have some advice... er... how did Dad ask you to be his mate?"

Saying that he was completely comfortable with asking his mother this question would have been a lie, but he wanted to do this right. Roxanne was worth the embarassment, in any case.

The swirly spotted mare perked almost instantly. Girl troubles, she should have known, but not just any girl troubles. She smiled gentle, but on the inside she was laughing like a fool. That should have been her first guess but instead she'd completely looked over it. It was just too strange to hear her children asking about love. Her smile faltered slightly at the sudden realization. None of her foals had ever come to her for advice on relationships before, ever. She had no idea what she was supposed to say, or do.

"Well..."She started gulping silently not wanting Nahuel to see how she was second guessing herself. "Your father and I...we've had a strange relationship." She took a deep breath thinking back. They'd confessed there love a while before being mates, well, life mates at least. "I was pregnant with you when he asked me to stay with him forever. That was certainly a night...got down on his knees and asked me to be his life mate. It was a bit old fashioned but wonderful all the same." A wistful sigh made it from her mouth and she slowly realized she had drifted away from reality in her memory trip.

She coughed lightly and turned away hoping to hide the heat the memory alone brought to her face. "Before that...we just happened upon each other in the woods after...a bit of a rough encounter with your half-sister...and our feelings just kind of...came out." She hoped that helped him. She really doubted it would. If he was her and she was him it wouldn't have helped.

He couldn't help but grin at the knowing smile on his mother's face, even though he knew she was probably trying not to laugh at him. If laughing at his expense was what it took to make her happy, he could deal with it- it wasn't as if he wasn't used to it, anyway. Seeing her smile falter after a moment, he offered what he hoped was a reassuring glance. If she couldn't help, it wasn't the end of the world- he'd just have to figure something out on his own.

Pausing at the explanation, Nahuel shifted lightly on his feet as cerulean gaze clouded over in thought. "Old fashioned..? Hm..." he wasn't exactly sure what to make of that- it didn't surprise him at all that his father had gone to such lengths, but he wondered how it would look if he tried the same methods. Mentally, he cringed as he imagined getting laughed at for his efforts... but he wanted to make it special, and obviously his mother had liked it, hadn't she?

Offering her a grateful smile this time, Nahuel nodded as he nosed affectionately at her mane. "Thanks, Momma. That does help a bit. I told Missus Roxanne I'd like her to meet my family... she's a bit nervous about meeting all of you, but I did get her to agree to seeing you, at least. Would that be okay?"

Now the ocean blue mare really did laugh. What on earth made Nahuel even consider that she would have a problem meeting his love? Sometimes she wondered exactly what his father taught him. "Of course that would be fine Nahuel dear." She said with a fond smile. "You don't need to ask though, surprises are good." She started tugging on his long mane reflecting on earlier events. "You know...as long as I'm not in the middle of breakfast."

((Ahhhh...brain dead. I swear I can do better then this.))

|| Bah, s'alright X3; Mine's not especially good either. ||

He grinned brightly once more, standing up straighter in his excitement and fighting not to fidget. "Great! You'll love her, Momma, I promise. She's beautiful, sweet... kinda dramatic at times, but nothing that you'd dislike her for..." he drifted off for a moment before realizing that he was babbling once again with a faraway look in his oceanic irises, jerking back to reality with another sheepish smile. "Sorry. I know I get carried away sometimes."

A warm feeling spread through out Luna's body as she watched her son ramble on about his love. It was something she had never felt before but she imagined this was how all parents felt at times like this. It was as though the entire world was now perfect once again. What would it be like to have grand children? It was a strange thought and one she wouldn't voice, no need to embarrass the boy or put any pressure on him but she imagined it would feel wonderful. That and make her feel a bit old, but the wonderful feeling would certainly make up for it.

"It's fine Nahuel." She said with a very fond smile. "Your father used to do the same thing...well in a way. He got all excited over the littlest things. It just shows you love someone." Drat! She was doing it again. Managing to relate everything to Shadow. She missed him. It was simple as that. She missed being close to him but right now she was with Nahuel and she shouldn't need to keep reminding herself of that. "It's a good thing to get carried away sometimes."

He smiled again, although it was more gentle than blindingly happy this time, as he nuzzled beneath his mother's chin. "He still does it all the time, ya know. I'll be trying to hold a serious conversation with him..." he coughed here, debating his meaning of the word 'serious'... and rephrased, "well, a conversation, anyway, and one of us will mention you, and he'll either start going off on a rambling tangent about you, or get this dreamy-like smile and just start daydreaming. It's embarassing sometimes, really," Nahuel snorted and held his nose high, but the grin once again spreading across his dark features showed that he didn't really mean the words. After all, who was he to speak of embarassing?

"He'll come to visit you soon, I'm sure," he said simply, eyes twinkling in mirth as he offered his mother a knowing smile. "I'm just a little worried about telling him about Missus Roxanne... whether he'll congratulate me for finding such a pretty mare or try to tease me by attempting to charm her." He snorted again, although his grin was one full of humor.

Lunathiel couldn't help but laugh at her son and well...her mate. So he still rambled on all the time. Such a goofball but sweet. She was glad she could at least keep her little outbursts under wraps most of the time. She smiled at the thought of seeing him again, it had been a long time. Her crystal blue eyes sparkled mischievously before backing away from her son a bit. "Don't worry about telling him about your girl. If he accepts her just like that it's great and if he teases you, you have your mother's permission to knock him around a little bit." She grinned wondering if he'd take her seriously or not. She meant it seriously, she would be very upset with Shadow if he somehow prevented her son from getting together with a girl with his teasing.

He snickered lightly at the idle threat, knowing that his father would get more of a beating from his mother than from him if that were to happen... although he rather doubted it would. Shadow was merciless sometimes in his teasing, but he knew when he was taking it too far. Besides, he was always joking that if Nahuel ever managed to find a mare that would love him despite his... er, shortcomings... that he would accept her without question and compliment her on her bravery. He'd scowled at that last comment when his father had said it, but was glad anyway.

"Aw, don't worry, I bet he won't do anything too bad. He knows he's got you and Ame to keep him in line," he winked at her with the famous lopsided grin he'd inherited from his father. "And Ayden and I can just drive him nuts if all else fails." He hadn't seen his brother in a while, either, and truthfully, he was anxious to see his 'partner in crime', as his father called them, again.
