So after returning to Gaia Online, and joining this wonderful guild, I've noticed many things that generally need to be addressed.
So here it is, my opinion on what being a Game Master(GM) for an RP means to me.
When deciding to press the 'New Topic' button, quite an important button because of all the factors that you have to consider when you decide to start a new RP, you have to be dedicated in your resolution. Recently, I've seen many RPs which would-be GMs begin but never tend to follow through. More or less, they design a world for an RP but decide to leave it as it is, no plot, no story, no actual design put into the so-called Roleplay that leaves a bitter aftertaste when the audience [the roleplayers] decide to join; afterwards, the so-called GM will leave the RP that had no thought put into it and create another one. [Talk about dedication]
In my head, when I create a new Roleplay, many things are factored into my head. "Does the RP have a story?", "Is the RP interesting?" and the most important question: "Am I dedicated enough to make this RP follow through?" If you cannot answer that question in your head, then stop immediately, think it through: "Am I going to be able to keep the RP interesting?", "Do I have the personal time to spend to keep the RP interesting?", "Is this RP unique enough to be called different?". If you still can't get a "Yes" answer, then don't post your RP.
So my final words: Please, Game Masters and would-be Game Masters, please consider your dedication before you post your new RP. Being a Game Master is about making interesting stories to share with others to a point where it is interesting. You have to put your own time into the Roleplay to make sure it's enjoyable for yourself and your peers.
[Also, I'd like to add: Enough "school" RPs! There are so many of these types of Roleplays that it's beginning to get redundant, they're all the same in general. You have school, dorms [Maybe. Maybe Not], you have a description of the surroundings and... wait? no story?
Please, for every new RP that is not a school RP, you save the lives of many intelligent men. [Probably]]
For the other GMs: What does being a Game Master mean to you? Do you agree with me? Do you notice that there are a plethora of RPs that seriously need more work?
For the players: Do you find that there is a general lack of substance in many RPs in the forum?
