Heavily under construction-- please be patient! <3
Name: Malice (Mal)
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Rank: Pokemon Trainer (well, in title, at least...)
Family: Too manys Joys to count. While being the only child in her immediate family, Malice's network of blood relatives is perhaps more widespread (and numerous!) than any other in Zatao. Stopping in any given Pokemon Center runs the risk of a surprise "reunion" with some odd cousin or Great-Aunt-Twice-Removed... which is why she
AVOIDS them like the plague whenever possible.
Likes: Solitary travel - Mal is a loner by nature and prefers to handle things as independently as possible-- traveling included. Self-reliance is her credo, and to journey with others would surely be a sign of weakness.
Peace and quiet - with an emphasis on the quiet part. Lone wolfish by nature, a tranquil environment is the quickest way to put her at ease. By contrast, chaotic situations tend to make her nervous and withdrawn, retarding her (already pathetic) social skills even further.
Reading - specifically, reading medical texts. Mal is always seeking to broaden her knowledge in the field, and indulges in this "guilty pleasure" of sorts whenever she has a moment to spare.
Dislikes: Chanseys - A dreadful, dreadful nostalgia. To her they are the squishy pink embodiment of everything she has tried to abandon. Regardless of how disturbingly pleasant or friendly the things may be, she loathes them all by default.
Pokemon Centers - for obvious enough reasons. Being well versed in medicine means that she can generally steer clear of the so-called
family traps, but when she DOES have to pay a visit... God help any poor soul in her company.
Illness - Mal.
HATES. Getting sick. Cursed with an ironically poor immune system, sickness inevitably forces her to rely on others, and she can't be having that! Even a 'harmless' cold can leave her severely weakened in the long run, due to the fact that she'll generally
ignore things as long as possible (aka, until she keels over and can't walk anymore).
Nurses - again, for obvious reasons. Just the sight of the uniform can get her (literally) squirming.
Cold Weather - With the cold comes precipitation, and with precipitation, inevitable sickness. Winter is an especially rough time of year for her body to handle.
Family Reunions - She would rather gnaw off her own leg. If you have to ask why...
don't.
Physical Description: Sporting the blue-gray eyes and startling scarlet locks of every woman in her bloodline, Malice seems, at first glance, to be a rather typical specimen of the Joy family-- lightly built, fair complected, and of a generally average (if not just *slightly* less than) height. At
second glance, however, her startling deviations from the norm become more apparent. To begin with, she flat-out
refuses to wear her hair in the traditional double-looped style (and even dyes it black on a regular basis), usually opting for a long braid or ponytail instead. Clothing is always thrown on in layers, effectively obscuring
whatever small semblance of a figure she may have underneath, and giving the girl a decidedly masculine look.
In short, she goes to great lengths in order to avoid looking feminine-- as
feminine, in her mind, equates automatically to
Nurse.
Personality: "There's enough Joy in the world already. I don't need to contribute any more."
Most people don't realize the irony in her deadpan remarks, brushing the girl off as a funny little dysfunction and going on with their happy lives-- not that Malice particularely
cares for the thoughts of others on her behalf, of course. She's a quick minded girl with intelligence and (caustic) wit to spare-- which is rather ironic, really, considering that she doesn't have the social aptitude for sharing it. She isn't exactly
cold... but the thought of group activity is more than just undesirable; it's downright terrifying!
When she does
inevitably get caught up in a situation with too many people, her first instinct is that of withdrawal. If she can sidle quietly off to the sidelines and avoid speaking, there's no doubting that she will. She
does actually have the capacity to stand up and take charge if a situation is desperate, though unfortunately she tends not to recognize the caustic bluntness of her own orders which, while getting the job done effectively,
rarely sits well with others.
As for "friendship," it's... really is a luxury she doesn't actively pursue, nor does it happen very often-- and when it
does occur, it's only by freakish accident. Her relationships with other humans are few, far between, and rarely more than a passing aquaintence.
