Just reserving posts for now so I can make up something proper (we hope!) this weekend.

Here lies the eventual table of contents!

Heavily under construction-- please be patient! <3

Name: Malice (Mal)
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Rank: Pokemon Trainer (well, in title, at least...)

Family: Too manys Joys to count. While being the only child in her immediate family, Malice's network of blood relatives is perhaps more widespread (and numerous!) than any other in Zatao. Stopping in any given Pokemon Center runs the risk of a surprise "reunion" with some odd cousin or Great-Aunt-Twice-Removed... which is why she AVOIDS them like the plague whenever possible.

Likes:

Solitary travel - Mal is a loner by nature and prefers to handle things as independently as possible-- traveling included. Self-reliance is her credo, and to journey with others would surely be a sign of weakness.

Peace and quiet - with an emphasis on the quiet part. Lone wolfish by nature, a tranquil environment is the quickest way to put her at ease. By contrast, chaotic situations tend to make her nervous and withdrawn, retarding her (already pathetic) social skills even further.

Reading - specifically, reading medical texts. Mal is always seeking to broaden her knowledge in the field, and indulges in this "guilty pleasure" of sorts whenever she has a moment to spare.

Dislikes:

Chanseys - A dreadful, dreadful nostalgia. To her they are the squishy pink embodiment of everything she has tried to abandon. Regardless of how disturbingly pleasant or friendly the things may be, she loathes them all by default.

Pokemon Centers - for obvious enough reasons. Being well versed in medicine means that she can generally steer clear of the so-called family traps, but when she DOES have to pay a visit... God help any poor soul in her company.

Illness - Mal. HATES. Getting sick. Cursed with an ironically poor immune system, sickness inevitably forces her to rely on others, and she can't be having that! Even a 'harmless' cold can leave her severely weakened in the long run, due to the fact that she'll generally ignore things as long as possible (aka, until she keels over and can't walk anymore).

Nurses - again, for obvious reasons. Just the sight of the uniform can get her (literally) squirming.

Cold Weather - With the cold comes precipitation, and with precipitation, inevitable sickness. Winter is an especially rough time of year for her body to handle.

Family Reunions - She would rather gnaw off her own leg. If you have to ask why... don't.

Physical Description: Sporting the blue-gray eyes and startling scarlet locks of every woman in her bloodline, Malice seems, at first glance, to be a rather typical specimen of the Joy family-- lightly built, fair complected, and of a generally average (if not just *slightly* less than) height. At second glance, however, her startling deviations from the norm become more apparent. To begin with, she flat-out refuses to wear her hair in the traditional double-looped style (and even dyes it black on a regular basis), usually opting for a long braid or ponytail instead. Clothing is always thrown on in layers, effectively obscuring whatever small semblance of a figure she may have underneath, and giving the girl a decidedly masculine look.

In short, she goes to great lengths in order to avoid looking feminine-- as feminine, in her mind, equates automatically to Nurse.

Personality: "There's enough Joy in the world already. I don't need to contribute any more."

Most people don't realize the irony in her deadpan remarks, brushing the girl off as a funny little dysfunction and going on with their happy lives-- not that Malice particularely cares for the thoughts of others on her behalf, of course. She's a quick minded girl with intelligence and (caustic) wit to spare-- which is rather ironic, really, considering that she doesn't have the social aptitude for sharing it. She isn't exactly cold... but the thought of group activity is more than just undesirable; it's downright terrifying!

When she does inevitably get caught up in a situation with too many people, her first instinct is that of withdrawal. If she can sidle quietly off to the sidelines and avoid speaking, there's no doubting that she will. She does actually have the capacity to stand up and take charge if a situation is desperate, though unfortunately she tends not to recognize the caustic bluntness of her own orders which, while getting the job done effectively, rarely sits well with others.

As for "friendship," it's... really is a luxury she doesn't actively pursue, nor does it happen very often-- and when it does occur, it's only by freakish accident. Her relationships with other humans are few, far between, and rarely more than a passing aquaintence.

Name: Sepia
Species: Eevee
Gender: Female
Nature: Mild
Item: N/A

Personality: Gentle, affectionate, and all around mild-mannered, Sepia seems the epitome of a well trained (and well loved) Pokemon companion. She may not have the ardent passion for battle that many of her kind possess (in fact, the little Eevee would far prefer to avoid it altogether unless necessary), but still tries her best to do her Malice proud-- regardless of whether she wins or loses. Her general pleasures in life are few and simple, really; nothing leaves her more content than simply traveling by her trainer's side, with the sun at her back and grass under paw.

Background:There's not really much to be said for Sepia's past, as the little Eevee, compared to many less fortuitous Pokemon, has enjoyed a blissful and relatively cushy life. Abandoned (or perhaps simply lost?) as an egg in the dead of winter, she was brought to a resident Pokemon Center for incubation where, low and behold, a (very) young Malice just happened to be working at the time. Despite her inexperience, it was she who reared the trainerless newborn in the facility, soothing any cries, cleaning any messes and bottle-feeding at all the most ridiculous hours of the morning. Their bond was immediate and unquestionable-- and, weeks later, when the time came for little Sepia's fate to be decided, it was no surprise that she chose to stay in her watchful "mother's" company. They've been inseperable ever since.

Name: Stellar
Species: Flaaffy
Gender: Female
Nature: Modest
Item: Everstone

Personality: The most level headed of the bunch, Stellar takes any challenge in steady stride. Nearly impossible to faze, she is often the resident source of comfort for little Phinneas (never failing to drag him into her lap for petting or massage in his moments of panic), and has even been known to mother Malice when the girl is overstressed. Food is one of her greatest pleasures in life (as suggested by her healthily plump Flaaffy physique) and she sure isn't picky about it either! Berries, biscuits, crackers, chocolate... The way to her heart (and friendship) is truly through her stomach.

Background: Funny thing, really, how the kindest of creatures can manage to come out of such terrible circumstances. When Malice first stumbled upon the fluffy Flaaffy, deep in the wilderness of Zatao's paths-less-traveled, what she found... was nothing short of horrifying. It appeared as though a violent battle had taken place; tiny droplets of half-congealed blood clung to the grass blades like thick, scarletty mist-- and amidst a puddle of the stuff, covered in red and brown grime, was something that scarcely looked like a Pokemon, let alone alive. With no Pokemon Center to be found for miles in any direction and crucial time ticking away, Malice bravely attempted to treat the wild victim where it had fallen. It took three days of exhausting work and primitive treatment, quite literally stranded out in the middle of nowhere, but her efforts and toil were enough to ultimately spare Stellar's life. She finally managed to get the Flaaffy walking (though slowly, with constant assistance) and back to the civilized world for proper treatment, though it took even more extensive care to complete the recovery process. One can only theorize that their bond evolved somewhere in all those weeks of spoon feeding and bandage changes.

Name: Phinneas
Species: Shinx
Gender: Male
Nature: Careful
Item: Everstone

Personality: Phinneas is, without a doubt, the most high-strung among Malice's lot, timid, fearful, and often neurotic to a fault. Larger pokemon scare him. Loud noises scare him. Sudden movements scare hims. Hell, furry potatoes would probably leave him scared out of his wits! Despite his sweet nature, the poor little fellow is just too hair-triggered to relax properly-- and only a rare few (namely, his trainer and a certain Flaaffy) can ever manage to placate him. As for battling... well, conflict in general is just too much for his fragile nerves, so he tends to avoid it whenever possible. Love and peace is just so much more pleasent, after all!

Background: Phinneas began life in a small breeding facility to the south of Katarina, born amidst countless other Shinx. He was one of many, assigned a number, without a name... and yet, there was something about him, something... different. Just days after his birth, an attendant noticed the frail infant behaving most oddly. His movements were too jerky and panicked. His eyes were always wide with terror. Every noise, every rustle, every miniscule shift in the environment would send him into a fit of gasps and screams; even sleep was a hopeless impossibility. Recognizing the tiny creature's obvious mental defects, the breeder took him to Katarina for a final health assessment at the resident Pokemon Center... and it was only by the suggestion of a kind nurse that Phinneas was spared culling-- left, instead, to the care of a sympathetic Malice.

Name: Kabuki
Species: Ninetales
Gender: Male
Nature: Rash
Item: N/A

Personality: Firey and impulsive, Kabuki is the resident war-mongerer of the bunch, with a quick mind and an even quicker temper to compliment. He lives for the rush of battle and never backs down from a challenge, going to great (even crazy on occasion) lengths for the sake of victory... sometimes even a bit too far, when ardent fighting lust gets the better of him. Despite his constant streaks of rebellion and feigned superiority, however, he has developed a begrudging respect-- even affection-- for Malice through their travels together... though he'd sooner bear-hug a Cacnea than fess up to it.

Name: Saul
Species: Delcatty
Gender: Male
Nature: Sassy
Item: N/A

Personality: Saul is... well, a priss, for lack of any better term, and definately not afraid to flaunt his inner b***h. Arrogant, caustic and incredibly vain, this spoiled little kitty has more than just an attitude problem; he's rotten to the core! In his golden eyes (complete with eyeshadow!), he has no equal and certainly no superior. Malice may be his trainer (for now), but that doesn't mean she'll be having any leverage over his life! Come to think of it... he believes it more fitting for the Pokemon to control the human, and thinks of " his" girl as a toy, a pet, and-- most importantly-- a devoted servant, there to cater his every whim.
