It was night, the fullmoon was bright in the sky. Spinel Sun was sitting on a tree. He was a flutter soquili, his shiny blue wings were making reflect on the water just behind him. He was small but strong. The night was his domain. He was like a sentry, always calm and serious.

It was strange, but while the nights in these new lands had progressed slowly...they had always been nights in which something had happened. He couldn't really declare that he was entertained at all times by them, but slowly but surely he was growing accustomed to the fact that his odd ball consort was not the only peculiar entity in existence - on the contrary, despite her rather lively behaviour she was reserved in comparison to some he had met!
Nevertheless, for reasons beyond his knowledge she had taken herself off to another area in search of something. Really, he should have listened a little better when she had been talking but instead he had simply smiled in his usual manner and let her be... Now he wasn't entirely sure if that had been a good idea.
"Oi," he murmured in the most eloquent of fashions, flicking his tail against his leg as he pushed himself through the undergrowth in search of his companion. She wasn't hard to spot, he'd probably catch her wings before her BUT - in being so interested in locating his missing 'link' he didn't notice the flutter residing above his head.

The flutter male looked at the stange stallion coming in his direction. He wore clothes, and fashion ones. He looked like a prince but Spinel knew there was no prince in the soquili land. Maybe he came from somewhere else. Firstly he looked at him without saying a word, he wanted to observe before. The stallion seemed to not notice him. But Spinel wanted to be polite so he finally spoke. "Good evening, can i help you ? you seems lost"

Despite being crept up on, his reaction was not so hostile as one might have assumed. Rather, as Spinel Sun spoke he lifted his gaze and offered a mild smile in response to the immediate question. Apparently he had let his guard down just a little too much and in doing so he had missed the soquili that now stood above his head.
Wait - what?
For a short while Hotohori could do nothing more than stare as he took the stallion in. The soquili was perched on the tree abvoe his head and was ridiculously small - he had seen a lot of strange things in life...christ his consort had four wings but never had he seen something so incredibly small!
Life was full of surprises...
"Not so much lost," he offered at last, continuing to watch the soquili with mild interest, "All those new to a foreign land are lost but I am more concerned about misplacing my companion..." he confessed before arching a brow - well that small one had wings and thus he would have probably seen far more than him.
"You haven't sen a rather eccentric mare about? Four wings...bob tail?"

Spinel was watching the stallion, apparently his size shocked him. He knew he was small, but he was strong, he looked deeply in the other stallion eyes to make him understand that it will be better to not understimate him. Actually he has a complex about it, so he could seemed cold.
He listenned to the stallion question, actually he was the first strange one he saw during these night. But to be sure he stood up on his leg and looked far away from the tree.
"No, there is no one arround despite us. Sorry"

It wasn't that the unicorn underestimated him. On the contrary his consort was considerably smaller than the unicorn and could easily dispatch of him if she got angry. He had learned long ago that it was best not to assume that size meant everything (although it usualyl helped). That being said, he did understand the somewhat silent warning that the petite stallion attempted to offer him and gave a nod as if to accept it.
That being said, despite the sligth misunderstanding the stallion was polite enough to reply to him!
So his consort was nowhere then, eh?
"You know, I find it incredibly amusing...she is the most easy to spot and yet she vanishes as though made out of thin air," he confessed with a bemused smile on his lips as he turned towards the stallion in the trees once again. "Do all winged ones do such things?"

Spinel was surprised, apparently this stallion understand and accepted the fact he was small. He thought he was really nice then.
He decided to go down of the ground. He will be complexed toward the unicorn and clothed stallion but this one made a friendly move so he will not be rude.
So he went near the stallion by flying softly. No rush needed, the night was quiet.
"She is so colorful ?" he asked when he heard about the mare being apparently easy to spot. "I don't know if all the winged one do it, but myself i like being discreet on the night, like invisible."

Hrm, well 'discreet' wasn't a term he would have often associated with his consort but he assumed that this was because she was so laid back and excitable around him. No doubt while on her own she might act somewhat differently and hell...maybe she was[/] discreet when he wasn't watching her or humouring her while she spouted her usual nonsense.
It was nonsense - but endearing all the same.
"Any particular reason?" Hotohori had always been one to make his presence known. In a manner of speaking it was polite, he didn't like to be crept up on so he would most certainly not do it to another individual. That being said, he was so secure in himself that being attacked by rabid creatures was not a concern of his so perhaps...
...Well perhaps that was why they were discreet, maybe they were mistaken for birds?
"Or is it just a hobby?" He smiled mildly and tilted his head down slightly so as to keep the male in his sight. He couldn't exactly crouch but he could do his best to maintain eye contact!

Spinel stood up on his leg, like a soldier, he kept eye contact as much as possible too. Why he was discreet ? It was a good question, he didn't really knew actually, it was like something he just knew. He tried to find a answer but he really couldn't explain it clearly.
"Well, actually i don't know why. I just like to respect the silent of the night maybe." maybe it was not an answer but it was the only one he thought about.
"And you, can i ask you what you're doing arround here during night ?"

Well, he supposed he could settle for that answer. Spinel seemed to have considered the question carefully and if that was his response then so be it. The unicorn wasn't entirely certain that the answer was the real one but then again...he had asked a very open ended question and it was up to the flutter to decide on how to respond.
Ah yes...
But when the stallion asked him a question it really did lead to a number of answers. There wasn't one precise answer that Hotohori could offer - he was here for a number of reasons. The first was of course to find his companion, and then there were others that weren't really difficult to explain...they just took a while.
"Well the first reason would be that I've lost my companion - the second is that it looked interesting and I suppose the third would be..." he glanced briefly at his robes and then at the area around him, in truth as the winter season approached...
"It was warmer in here as well." He finished, offering a mild smile.

Spinel felt a little stupid by the stallion side, he got some presence, like a noble of something like that. But it was not the stallion fault. Just Spinel was born flutter, he will be small all his life.
Spinel was surprised by so much answer, but the stallion seemed to have thought a lot about it.
"Oh alright, yes the weather is warmer arround here. I can help you find your compagnion if you want, i can fly it can help."
Then he suddenly realised he didn't even introduce himself and he didn't knew the name of the stallion.
"I forgot my manner, i'm Spinel Sun, nice to meet you" he nodded a little.

"Ah," well the stallion could have mentally kicked himself for his own lack of manners. He had been raised better than that and yet it seemed that entering a new land made him forget all his lessons entirely. Truly he should be deeply ashamed of himself...That being said though, Spinel went up in his estimations as he took it upon himself to start off the introductions.
The soquili of this realm could be polite!
"Forgive me, a pleasure to meet you - my name is Seishuku Saihitei...but my consort refers to me as Hotohori," he smiled mildly at this and took a few moments to mull over his own words. In comparison to Spinel he had a ridiculously long (and difficult to pronounce) name.
"You may call me Hotohori if you desire," he offered at last.

Spinel rememebered the name mentaly, wondering why actually his friends apparently use an other name than his real one.
"Nice to meet you Hotohori, you can call me Spinel. The sun at the end of my name is strange for me, because i don't like sun that much."
He flew a little higher in the sky. "So wanna search for you friend ?"

"I should think so, yes," Hotohori offered a bemused smile, it seemed both males had a dislike for at least something to do with their name. Well, it wasn't that Hotohori disliked his name but it was exceptionally long and Hotohori was much easier to remember and to pronounce. From a practical point of view it was best to accommodate strangers in these lands as best he could.
"Might I ask why you dislike the 'Sun' part?" Granted, Spinel was nothing like the sun at all but that wouldn't cause such dislike would it? Perhaps there was something deeper to be had in terms of reasoning. Alas, shaking his robes back into place the stallion began to shift forward in the direction he had been heading - with company his search would be much easier.

As Hotohori asked about the sun part, Spinel mind automaticaly went to his ennemy, this stupid winged stallion. He was all what the sun was, his color, his power. Spinel was only a night soquili, more, a short one.
"Well, i'm a night soquili, and to tell the truth i have a contrary, not in this land he is far away by chance. He is winged, bright and ... stupid. The sun makes me think about him. My friend got the name Ruby Moon, she was luckiest than me on this point."
