The sun was setting, but the clouds in the sky masked it from view. The fall breeze was light, but carried the scent of salt to hise nose. It was a warm day for fall on the beach, not that the stallion minded. It was a nice change from the cold mountain scenerey and the clearing he spent most of his childhood in. He continued to walk along the shore, his excessively long tail dragging in the sand.
His bi-colored eyes sat on the clean sand ahead of him, watching as everytime he set a hoof down, marring it's perfection. It bothered him a bit, to do that, but the breeze would come and fix the indentations in the ground. His attention flickered to the sea, and he paused momentarily. This was a place surely Eponine and his mother would enjoy. He'd have to get his sister to come here eventually, but his mother... His jaw set firm, and he was quick to look away and continue his stroll.

Esha was a free spirit, always on the move. She honestly believed that every day was something new and she loved waking up to a new setting each morning. She had traveled to the shore today and found she enjoyed the constant rhythm set by the waves. She walked casually right at the water's edge, smiling softly every time the water reached up to kiss her hooves and then retreated again like a shy lover. Pausing she turned her head, facing the horizon that rippled with the reflection of the sun against the blue sea. Her bangs were tossed across her face as the wind swept through her hair and mane. Ahh, the ocean...it had a hand in everything, didn't it? The sound, the smell...all your senses were always alive when near it.

His eyes fell on the ocean, which was moving in rhythm and showing nos igns of a storm. The darker skies had hinted at different weather, so it was pleasant to see that the eather would turn out to be fine in the end. Marius was fine with all types of weather, as being born in the mountains with all that snow toughened him against other elements. But what he worried for were others on the beach, and if the weather turned for the worse, he would feel it to be his duty to get them to shelter... Even if it wasn't his at all.
He continued his slow stroll, his attention on the beach ahead of him. His eyes, glazed with thought, did no notice the astonishing pink mare letting the water run up against her hooves. His thoughts tumbled between the situation with his parents and his siblings, and then to the sky and ocean as to check for any abrupt signs. Only a few feet away, his eyes focused and he caught sight of the mare. His face was impassive as he registered that there was someone else along the beach, and it seemed to be far too often that he would find someone here, at his "retreat" from the dramas of life.
A little slow to react, he offered a polite smile and a nod of acknowledgement.

Esha paused, turning her head round her shoulder to look at the stranger. Though her multi-hued mane caught in her face from the ocean breeze she offered a warm smile that seemed to flood the same welcoming feeling into her lavender eyes. "Hello there," she murmured, her tone casual as if they had already known one another. She shifted her hooves delicately, moving slightly away from the water, as the push and pull of the waves had been slowly tragging her feet under the sand.

He was a tad shocked at her tone, as most greeted him with the usual hesitance of meeting someone unknown. His face became impassive momentarily, studying the mare's face. Did she know him, since she used such a tone? He could not recall seeing her or ever meeting her in his past. It didn't dawn on him perhaps she was just casual like that, as well, he didn't know many who were. He bowed his head politely, taking a step back to sllow her room to walk away from the water.
"Hello," he replied, keeping his tone polite but reserved. He did not know whether or not to mirror her way of speaking, so he kept with his own. To make up for it, he continued on speaking to keep the atmosphere comfortable but not forced, "I don't believe I've met you before, and I trek the beach shore often," he offered a polite smile, curious about who the beach-goer was, "Marius is my name, stranger."

She took the chance he offered her and retreated to the dry sand, making a small trail of wet prints behind her that were quickly washed away. Even her gate was casual, as if she was already in treasured company. "You're quite right," she agreed with the same touching smile as before, "I just arrived at this part of the shore this morning." She dropped her head slightly in a sort of bow, but the motional was far more natural then of strict manners. "I'm Esha. A pleasure to meet you," she murmured in reply, her voice low and genuinely friendly.

He was relieved that hewas right about never meeting her before. It would have been very awkward to be recognized by her but not recognize her as a familiar. He offered a small smile, nodding to her words. At her introduction, it once again sounded casual and friendly. He would have thought of it to be generic, but her voice and tone intrigued him, and he dismissed the thought quickly.
He mimiced her head bow, it slight but notable, "Esha, I am Marius. It is most intresting to meet someone so calm." He said, standing tall again, looking down at her. She certainly did intrigue him simply by her way of speaking. He had never been talked to with such familiartiy outside of his family and two fillys from his childhood. Her coat and mane was something different too. She was quite very pink! It was a very interesting meet indeed.
