Small paws beat against the ground as the mostly ivory cub leaned his head back and let a round of laughter erupt from his throat and escape his open maw. If it wasn't for his rather sweet and innocent appearance anyone around him could have sworn the laughter to be more of an evil cackle.
Luckily for the cub no one was around to hear his rather evil laughter, or so he thought. He hadn't been paying too much attention to his surrounds so anyone could have heard him, anyone but parents at least. It would be very bad if they heard him, especially with the state one of his older sisters were in.
When his parents came and confronted him he would put on his most innocent expression and say 'What? -I- didn't do it and more likely than not he'd get away with it, so far he had been.
Ah good times, good times.

An extremely lanky and gaunt lioness was also out and about, meandering aimlessly about the lands. She was young, but her apparent malnutrition made her appear much older. There was a glimmer of experience in her bi-colored eyes that conveyed an unpleasant story. Her head hung low as she loped onwards, soft paws treading the beaten path. For the most part, her thoughts were empty, she'd given up on pondering things as of late. She liked keeping herself busy for that reason, to keep her mind off of certain things. Certain things like her mother. A twinge of pain crossed the young animal's face as she moved forward. Her mother. One of the thoughts she wanted to keep at bay.
But thankfully, there was something to distract her. Not too far off, a strange sound echoed out. A laugh. But not a regular one. It sounded a little malicious, but the voice was a young one. This caused the lionesses head to perk up interest. Her trot changed direction, toward the source of this strange sound. It would five her something more productive to do than just meander the lands.
It wasn't long before she found the source, and honestly, it wasn't at all what she was expecting. A small white cub stood before her, not all too much younger than herself. She looked him over with sunken in eyes, bony figure moving closer to the youngster. Her green and violet eyes narrowed, head tilting to the side, as if she was silently asking him just exactly what the hell he was doing.

Kabili's eyes twitched at what he thought to be the sound of someone approaching him. It was so soft that he couldn't be sure it it was really someone or just his imagination. In any case he instantly fell silent and turned just his head back and caught the female's image out of the corner of his eye. He had been rather tensed at first but when he saw that it was not someone that he was related to he immediately relaxed, slightly.
It was rather obvious that the female wanted him to explain what he had just been doing, but he didn't really know how to explain nor did he want to. So rather quickly he put on his most innocent expression and called out softly. "Is something wrong?"

The guant animal stood silently for a moment longer, watching the cub's series of reactions with interesting. He was jumpy about something. She didn't press it. She put a foot forward, as if she was going to step closer, but decided against it. With a toss of her head, she shrugged lightly,
"Just wondering what you were being so... cynical about."
With odd colored eyes, she glanced the cub over once more; he seemed sweet and meek. But, sweet and meek cubs didn't laugh like that, and there sure as hell wasn't anyone else around here. She titled her head to the other side,
"Well?"

Kabili blinked several times in confusion. He tilted his head and frowned. "Cynical? I'm afraid I don't know what you are talking about." He replied with a shake of his head. His jade colored eyes cast down to the ground beneath them for only a minute before looking back up at the grey female who couldn't be too much older than him. "I really have no idea of what you are talking about, honest."
Ah such lies, such carefully woven lies, or at least carefully played lies. The white jester looking cub did his best to remain innocent looking; to look small, frail and meek.
Is it working?
Does she believe me?
Those thoughts swirled in the male's mind as he watched her with wide eye, eyes that should be filled with the illusion of confusion. His little heart was pounding in his chest and he breathed in deeply, but carefully so she couldn't tell, to help calm himself.
If she finds out the truth will she tell?
Will she let my parents know?
Will I get into trouble?!
In his mind he began to panic at the slightest thought while he remained calm and confused on the outside.

Kilelo narrowed her eyes in a confusion of her own. So this cubby was going to sit here and tell her that she didn't just hear him laugh? Sure, she was just about starved to death, but she wasn't hallucinating. For sure.
"You're telling me you don't remember doing this..."
The lioness tilted her head back, and let out a laugh that was similar to what she heard. She looked back to him,
"You don't remember laughing? Erm..."
Kilelo stopped talking, perhaps he was sick... Or something. Memory loss? Maybe he'd been hit over the head when he was born or something, messed up his brain. She was curious to ask, but figured it wouldn't be too polite just yet.

He relaxed slightly relieved to find that she was taking his bait so far. Once more he shook his head. "Nope. I haven't heard anything let alone a laugh." He replied before shrugging. "Are you sure you weren't hearing things?" He inquired with a slight tilt of his head.
Perhaps he could make her believe that she was hearing things, that she was crazy! That would be perfect, just perfect, tricking not only one of his sisters but a stranger he barely met! Oh how he wanted to laugh once again like he had before but he restrained himself after all doing so would ruin everything! And he didn't want that. No. He couldn't have that.
"Really, I have no idea what you're talking about, I was just out taking a walk to get away from my sisters.

Kilelo raised her head up slightly. This little fella was pulling her leg, she could feel it. She wasn't hearing things, no way. Kilelo was extremely secure with herself. She was many things, a malnurished child, an orphan, a loner, but a crazy she was not. She frowned, looking to the dirt before dashing her gaze back onto the cub,
"That's not polite, you know, lying like that, little guy. I know what I heard, you can't pretend. Didn't your parents teach you manners?"
Her bitter nature was starting to surface a little. Perhaps she was putting up her dukes a little early. But she couldn't help it. She didn't like being made a fool of. It wasn't a big deal, afterall. A laugh. Why was he so defensive over it?

He blinked. Did she really just say what he thought she said? No she couldn't have, there was no way she could see through his act! No way...right? Kabili gulped and tried his best to remain calm.
"Lying? I'm not lying..I'm not." By the time he finished that sentence his voice trailed off and was nearly non-existent. His gaze cast to the floor as his thoughts raced wildly. How was he going to weasel out of this one? What was he going to do?
This had never happened to him before and he had no idea what to do in the slightest, he was completely at a loss. "H....how... He whispered nearly inaudible. This was going to drive him crazy!

Kilelo was starting to grow a little irritated. Her brows furrowed in a bit of a frown. She wasn't appreciating this, not one bit.
"That's even more lying!"
There was a hint of a pleading tone in her voice. Was he accusing her of lying... By lying? The whole line of thought was twisting her mind around quite a bit. Lashing her tail about behind her fragile frame, she adressed him again,
"Why is that a big deal, ....erm... What's your name?"

This was not good, not good at all.
The white cub didn't let his innocent appearance drop, no it was important to keep it up. If he let it fall now he was doomed for sure, she would definetely know and he would either, A) Run away as fast as possible or B)Explain himself to the other.
Neither of those two options appealed to him in the least. He blinked at her rather blankly and shook his head. "Why would I lie, I have no reason for it." He told her as innocently as he possibly could.
He wasn't sure how much longer he could pull this charade off, it was getting difficult. It was like she could see through him. "Ka...." He paused halfway through his name, he couldn't tell her all of it because if he did and she found out the truth she could tell his parents! He couldn't have that. "Bili, my name is Bili."

Kilelo shook her head vigorously, disagreeing with him rather strongly. There was something about him, something not so right at all. He was too defensive over this whole 'her hearing him laugh' deal. It was like he was trying to cover something up with that sweet, young little demeanor. She wasn't about to let him slip this one by. "Well I don't know, you tell me why you would lie, because you obviously are. I'm not stupid you know."
The gaunt female huffed loudly as she spoke that last part. Was he trying to imply that she was stupid and would fall for such shenannigans? She hoped not, how very rude of him. Had he been raised by warthogs or something? Slowly, she started to move around him in a circular patterns, pacing with a loping gait, trying to crack down on the pressure.
"Come now, Bili, what are you hiding? Because you are, I can smell it!"

"I have no reason to lie to someone that I don't even know the name of." Kabili replied frowning at her words. "Stupid? I don't think you're stupid. Not in the least bit." That last statement was true. He didn't think she was stupid, not at all. She could basically see through his act and lies and was coming close to seeing the real him and that impressed him. He wasn't going to tell that to her of course, not unless he had to.
Kabili's jade colored eyes followed the movement of the blue-gray female as she circled around him until she exited his line of vision and followed her once more when she came back in.
"Say I was hiding something, why would I tell you, a stranger what I was hiding?" He asked with much curiosity as to what the other's answer would be. Perhaps if she could prove herself to him he would explain himself but then at the same time perhaps he wouldn't.
He definitely didn't want to tell her. No. Not unless he really trusted her, trusted her enough to know that she wouldn't go telling his parents of his....Shenanigans. But he couldn't trust her. No, after all how could he trust someone he didn't know when he couldn't even trust his siblings.
Of course with the tricks he played on them it wasn't surprising that they didn't trust him.
Ah so much to contemplate with so little time. He also had to figure out a way to slip out of this little mess he had created for himself. With so much to do, his mind was racing.

Quietly, Kilelo scoffed as he spoke. What did that even mean? He was getting a little defensive, good, she liked that. He was growing more and more backbone by the minute, rather than hiding behind an innocent mask. Kilelo really couldn't stand that, pretending to be some thing you weren't. However, maybe if she did pretend, even just a little, let down her pride and her wall, maybe she wouldn't be in such a position. All alone and starving her way to the grave. But she'd get through it. She was tough.
Her eyes lit up, eye brows perking with his next statement. So, he was hiding something after all. She knew it! A coy smile lit up her face.
"Welly well! So you are. We're strangers to each other, Bili, I know nothing of you, you know nothing of me. If you'd tell me, I'd see no harm. Besides, I'm bound to find out any ways."
Kilelo's tone was rather knowing, as if what she was saying actually made sense, not that it really did. Of course they were strangers. At least, they had been strangers. Most of this pride were strangers to her, now that she thought about it. However, his little secret, whatever it was supposed to be, had piqued her interest, she was officially making it her business.
"I'm Kilelo, on any note.... Not exactly strangers any more, are we now?"

Immediately when he notice her smile he regretted his last statement. That had basically just given him away! Well he was getting bored of pretended to be innocent and harmless, it often got boring quickly, but it was handy...Most of the time. He kept bits and pieces of it up but let it slowly fall, like it was broken and the pieces were slowly falling down.
"Strangers can never really be trusted." He stated in his sweet voice before grinning at her devilishly. "Well stranger, say I told you the secret you think that I am hiding and you thought it horrible, horrible enough to tell on me. I could be in trouble and see that wouldn't do, wouldn't do at all." He did a light shake of his head with a bit of a tsk.
He would end up telling her, at least probably would, after all she had gone through so much trouble to try and pry it from him now but he had to think about it. Would it increase his fun to let an outsider[Not of the pride but of his own little circle which consists only of himself] in on his trickery and fun? Perhaps, perhaps not it all depended on her.
Yes completely on her.
"Well Kilelo, if that's really your name" He had to say that, just for amusement purposes. "now that we are no longer strangers tell me why I should tell you anything." It was at this point he was tempted to give her his full name, but he wouldn't not yet if at all.
