"Ughhhhhhhhh..." -A sound of displeasure filled the air as the ebony lioness forced herself to stand. Lingering in the shade she gazed outward into the emptyness around her, and silently she wondered how long ago her sisters had abandoned her. Days? Weeks? How long ago was it that those stupid wenches ran off with their 'would be' kings and left her out here to die?

In truth her mind was lying to her. Bitterness, fatigue, and hunger playing her her memories. She'd left herself in a fit, not even quite a week ago. Long enough to have herself decorated more fittingly, and long enough for her belly to begin to turn on itself, roaring with a sound less then lady-like.

Lapping at her paws just to assert that her appearance was up to par, she finally stepped out into the light, beginning to walk away from the rising sun as she had been doing for the past few days. She was hungry... lonely... angry. Where was her prince? Where were her subjects? A miserable moan of dispair sounded from her before she continued on slowly. She wouldn't give up. No matter what. But if she couldn't find a prince.. first she had to find some food.-

The tan cheetah had been strolling rather leisurely across the plains. He had been stressed ever so slightly now that he was once again on his own. It was no matter though, this walk was relaxing and it helped put his mind to ease.

His jade colored eyes scanned the area about him as if looking for someone or something to talk to. At first he saw nothing. It wasn't until the ebony lioness stepped from the shadows that he took notice of her. It was hard for him not to. The red decorative designs standing out so strongly against her dark fur.

The cheetah waited a minute or two before approaching the female and calling out cheerfully. "Hello there miss."

-She had not noticed him as he approached, mind and eyes betraying her with hunger and thought, and she nearly jumped when the voice hit her, a hiss sounding as her red eyes swung to meet the source.

A cheetah? Certainly not a king. Cheetahs were a whole step below lions in fact. However.. that didn't mean he was useless. Still on guard, despite the friendly enough greeting, her eyes met him with a straight face. It wasn't a smile to say the least.. but atleast she managed to keep any disgust or aggression that might have slipped up away.-

"Hello."

"I do hope your intentions aren't ill advised." -She stated wearily. As if she could actually do anything about it if they were. But reguardless, all she had for her defense was her wits and words these days. And she'd use them as best she could.-

"Ill intentions? Why would I have ill intentions miss?" Questioned the cheetah honestly confused by her words. Nothing of the sort had crossed his mind when he first approached her and nothing did now that she had brought it up. Kika thought himself too much of a gentleman, especially with a lady that seemed weary, hungry and overall exhausted.

He then shrugged. "Although I do see where you could come up with that thought, you are a pretty female." The male merely spoke his thoughts before smiling at her again. "May I help you in any way?" He asked with a tilt of his head hoping that she would allow him to help her. After all it wasn't good to be all on your own, especially if you were female and the state the other was in. There were creatures out there that would take advantage of her if the chance arose.

-Well, obviously species barriers didn't affect beauty and lust it would seem. For even despite their great differences he seemed to pick up on her aire and she was minutely flattered. For a moment or so.

A soft twitch of her ear was the only real visual show of the lioness' surprise. For indeed she was surprised by the offer without any work. And softly the hard refined corners of her maw began to fade, sliding to resemble the more dainty features they should have.- "I am very hungry.."

"I'm too sick to hunt for myself." -She added softly, holding back the last little bit of information for the time being. Maua would have to test this cheetah first.. before he could bask in the fact of what she REALLY was.-

His ears flattened against his head when he heard that she was hungry and sick. That wasn't good, not at all. "Let me get you something." He turned and started to pad away before stopping and turning back to her. "Is there something specific that you might be wanting?" He asked keeping his eyes on her face.

His thoughts strayed to his surrounding and he tried to remember when he last passed water, the female was surely in need of water too so it was best if he took her to a watering hole after he got her something to eat. It struck him, the last watering hole he passed, it was not too far from their current location, he'd have to do a bit of backtracking but it would be fine because he was pretty sure of where it was at, after all he had been in this area for a while.

"I can take you to get water after I hunt for you...." He told her.

-Her tail twitched very softly, a faint motion from the otherwise still lioness as she listened to the words and apparent 'kindness' of the cheetah. What a fool. Was he really going to waste his energy for her? Maybe he just KNEW his place already? Secretly she was thankful.-

"As long as it isn't something disgusting and dirty like a snake I could care less." -Now that food was being mentioned her stomach seemed to awaken, and a less then lady-like grumble rumbled through her lean form. In other cases she might have asked for something ridiculous. A beautiful bird fit for a princess perhaps. Or maybe something particually rare. Just to play with him and watch him attempt the 'impossible'. But not today. She was hungry, so hungry.

As he stepped away for his task, her eyes shifted mildly about, searching for some sort of shade in which to lie herself in. Spotting a scraggley bush she swayed her way over there, coming to rest in the minute shade it produced, curling up gently.- "That would be nice. I certainly hope it's not far away though." -He certainly didn't expect her to hike all over creation just for a little drink of mudhole.-

The cheetah nodded and proceeded to pad off towards the trees. He would try and get her something filling, maybe a gazelle or some other large prey animal. Maua was bound to be pretty hungry so it was best to get something that she could have plenty of.

He stopped at the edge of the trees just before he stepped into their shadows. His tail flicked back behind him before he turned back and smiled as pleasantly as possible. "It's not that far miss. Just a short walk from here." He explained before taking a step forward before hesitating, lingering. He was suddenly unsure if it would be wise to leave her on her own, but she would probably scare off any prey that he would be hunting, because of her clear exhaustion and the way she walked a bit sloppy, or at least that what he saw. "I'll be back soon."

With that having been said he slipped into the shadows and padded about as softly and soundlessly as possible. If he was lucky he'd find what he was looking for soon. Something frail, young, old, sickly and most importantly....alone.

((So sorry about the ridiculous delay! ))

-She nodded softly to his leaving words, the closest she could manage to a thank you. And lightly she laid her head across her dark paws. Hopefully he wasn't inept and WOULD be back soon. She wondered what he would bring.

Eyes shutting against the brightness of the day she let her thoughts drift off, visions of animals tracing across her memories. Bright birds, deliciously plump pigs, graceful antelope. Her stomach began to grumble louder but it didn't stop her imagination.-

He didn't have to go very far before and antelope came into his line of vision. It wasn't what he had been looking for exactly, it was an old one but still looking rather healthy. It didn't matter much to the cheetah, it was alone and that was what was most important to him. Instantly he sank down into the grasses as best he could as he made his way down wind to make this catch as easy as possible. The preybeast's back was to him making this the perfect situation to be in.

Kika moved a bit more so he could get a better view of the creatures neck, the best part to go for. Readying himself he lunged at it, it catching sight of him just seconds too late as his teeth sank into. The antelope hit the ground harshly and struggled wildly to free itself from his jaws, failing horribly. It was only a matter of minutes before death settled over the prey and it stopped moving.

Proud of himself he released his grip on it and stepped back. This had been the cleanest kill he had ever had. Walking back over he squirmed under it to get it settled upon his back before making his way back to Maua.

-The scent of death and flesh touched her nose so fiercely as he drew nearer that it almost seemed like an attack. Her eyes opened quickly, her stomach giving one more loud rumble, she could even feel the bit of moisture collecting on her tongue as her body reacted naturally to the stimuli.

Had it really been so long since she'd eaten? Now that the scent of food was prevelant it seemed so. Certainly it spoke for her control and mind power she praised herself silently. To be able to manipulate herself so well without noticing. Impatiently she waited for the cheetah to return.-

Kika, knowing the female was probably growing impatient from hunger, quickened his pace going faster but slow enough to not risk losing the kill he had acquired. Soon he was out of the trees and had a good view of the black female with the red henna decorating her fur. He called to her cheerfully. "Sorry I took so long, put up quite a fight." By that time he was close, close enough to let the kill slide off his back and over his head towards her.

"I hope this is pleasing." He said politely nodding his head. He pushed it closer to her so she wouldn't have to move too much unless she wanted to, then he settled back onto his haunches. "If there's anything else please let me know."

-The great mass of meat that appeared strewn across the cheetah widened her eyes and as he drew nearer her eyes locked on the meal. A soft sound of approval touched her subconciously and nearly as soon as he'd backed up her teeth sank into the flesh.

Ohh how her body ached, her stomach grumbling once more as the sweet taste hit her tongue. How she wanted to just dive into the feast before her in a fury like any other hungry lion. But she did not. Tearing at the beast she chewed softly and daintly, pink tongue slipping to clean her maw before each next bite. Always a princess, even when it was painful. Not that this was that painful.

By the third bite she was in bliss. The feeling of her stomach expanding, the delicious taste and feel of food on her tongue. Only when she neared the point of being full did her eyes rise again to the cheetah replying indignantly.- "Quite a waste. So much that will go uneaten. Couldn't you have gotten something smaller?"

-She picked at the creature until she had her fill, and already she could feel energy returning to her. This was something she needed. If her sisters were to abandon her.. she needed someone else. Eyes lifting softly, a smile forced it's way to her maw, divulging the secret knowledge as if it were some sort of gift.- "You have my royal thanks."

Kika looked away as she ate as to not make her uncomfortable by watching. He didn't want to be rude, or seem rude after all. That wouldn't do any good at all, especially since he considered himself a 'gentleman' of sorts. The cheetah sorts of course. It wasn't until she spoke to him did he look back at her. His ears flickered at her obvious disdain.

Swallowing he spoke, "Ah, I'm sorry Miss, I knew you were hungry but I wasn't too sure so I suppose I figured bigger was better that way you didn't have to wait for me to fetch a lot." He kept his gaze steady before bowing his head. "My apologies." He knew it wasn't something that he needed to apologize for but he did anyway figuring it was better to be safe and do so.

Lifting his head when she spoke again he nodded. "Of course miss, couldn't leave you there without helping, he said.

-She was irked mildly that he seemed not to catch the bit of treasured information that she'd thrown him. And it soured him face for a brief moment. But in truth the fact of actually having food in her stomach had swelled her mood in a way it hadn't been in weeks. And the way this cheetah acted.. it was well enough anyway for the moment without him bowing down to her in actuality.

Slowly she stepped up, taking one last look to make sure no remains of flesh tarnished her pelt, giving her body the tiniest hint of a shake now that energy was beginning to return to her.- "It couldn't be helped I guess."

-His reason was semidecent after all. Could she really expect some peasant to know everything right upon first meeting after all. Stepping away from the kill, she waited for a moment to see if he'd pick at the leftovers before her voice lifted once more authoritatively.- "Where was that water then? My throat is quite parched." -She also hadn't bathed in awhile.. which was QUITE disgusting. Back when she was young she'd bath everyday, twice a day sometimes.-
