Okay, so I don't know if my mind is going crazy, so this is just to see if I'm the only one...

Well, when you imagine Edward, do you actually see a face? Like, me, I don't see a face, but I just know what Ms. Meyer describes, if you know what I mean. I see his hair, the shape of his head, but I can never seem to imagine his face. All I know is that it's incredibly beautiful.

But there's just one picture of Edward that I keep seeing in my mind when I think of him..
I see his hair and his head, but his face is like a shadow, it's like the sun is behind him, so the light doesn't shine on his face, so it's too dark to see his face. GRR, it's so hard to explain!

But, either way, all I'm trying to say is, do you actually SEE Edward's face when you imagine him?

Same goes with all the other characters..
Do you SEE their faces, or do you just THINK you can see it, based on Ms. Meyer's explanation?

I can see his face... although it's nothing like Stephenie describes him. I see him as kind of nerdish, with red hair and a bowl cut. But Tom Sturridge is slowly beginning to replace that image.

For Bella, I imagined someone really pretty. I can't really describe it, but Emily Browning has completely replaced that image.

I know what you mean, unless the book has a movie counterpart I can never imagine character's faces. I always have their body, hair, clothes and stuff in my head but they never have faces

When I try to imagine any of the characters' faces, I'm just like you. But if I'm actually reading and sort of become part of the books, I really do see faces. Too bad I can only remember when I'm dreaming crying

I can see faces easily of any characters from Twilight.I never had a problem with it either in the first place.

Other than that,I wonder if it's the lack of detail Stephenie misses if you can't see their face...eh? O.o;;; [her writing is a bit dry sometimes]
Or is it totally different & depends on 'that' person?
But whatever she lacks,I fill in.

I'm just the opposite, when I'm reading, I don't really see faces, no need to, I'm taking in the story more than the characters, if that makes any sense. But when I try to imagine characters, they actually have faces, especially if I focus on them.

I don't know if this happens to anyone else, I think someone else before me kind of described it... But whenever I read... I become the protagonist whether that happens to be male or female. It's really hard to describe if you haven't experienced it before sweatdrop But it really helps to get a feel on the emotive language and visualization. razz

Yes. Thank you.
That's exactly what I've been trying to say.
I can see everything but their face.

I know you say it might be Ms. Meyer's lack of detail..but I don't really think it's that.
Like yeah, she does say - about Edward - that he's Godlike and beautiful and all that. And that's practically the most you'll get from her.
She does say he has "liquid-gold eyes" or something and that all of his features are straight and angular. But I just can't see it!
If it's someone who is described as "godlike" and "incredibly beautiful" I will never imagine how their face looks like. I think it's because I keep thinking that they're too beautiful for my imagination to ever imagine or something..

But that's confusing me even more because I can't imagine Bella's face. But that's probably because the book is written in her perspective and when I read it, I tend to imagine being in her shoes.
But then again, I can't imagine Jacob's face either....

GRRR ! How annoying. =="

That's just like how I see the characters. At first I imagined Bella with shoulder length, wavy black hair for some reason... it sounds way off now, lol.

Henry Cavill would be my choice of an Edward Cullen~

But.. He is too old to play in Twilight, or so Mrs. Meyer said.
><;

So.. yeah.
Emily Browning is so Bella Swan.

oh yes, I see Edwards face. Its amazing I was subconsciously picturing Gaspard very early on without realizing it was his face that I thought of. Then I saw a manip picture of him and I was like That Is Edward.

Its a beautiful thing the human mind. I love how there are so many varied ways that you've all visualized the book in your mind.

I know exactly what you mean! I see it just like that. It's strange because I can see everything but his face; I can see his hair, skin, but his face is just a blur. Maybe it's because I don't want him to look different then Stephanie Meyer wanted him to look like.
