[:.Basic Info.:]

Character Name: Chakori (goes by Kori)

Gender: Female

Stage/Age: 17

From: Air Tribes

Role Play Color: [Olive]

Occupation: Rouge Air bender, passes herself off as a merchant selling questionable things as a means to get by, Con artist. May become something else after she has established herself somewhere.

Appearance: Her eyes are unusually green and her hair is pitch black. Her skin is pale. She puts her hair in two low messy buns; she wears a bandana over her Arrow tip in the front, and ties it below the two buns. She looks dirty, she lives on the street, none of her clothing is of great quality and has frayed edges and holes; the basic side shirt with long sleeves and baggy pants. She wears huge brown leather gloves, and no shoes. She has a purse bag and two closed fans attached to her hips, and also has a large piece of cloth that holds her wares that she ties and carries as a bag with her everywhere. The only items that should appear in good condition are the fans, which are black.

Bio: Chakori isn’t your normal Air bender. She isn’t an easy going gal; in fact she prefers to live each day as if it is potentially her last. She loves to struggle and to see how far she can go on her own. She didn’t get along with the other monks and was always in trouble, she finally gave up trying to convince them that there was much more then just playing and meditating and flying all day, packed up, and left. She landed in the Earth kingdom and traded her robes for earth kingdom garb. She let her hair overgrow most of her head arrow, and covers the rest with a bandana. She wears gloves to hide those arrows. The only hint of her power is a pair of worrier fans, and the slight blue one might see beyond the filth on her feet. She spent the first part of her new life suffering and begging until she mastered con tricks, then she began to ‘find’ items and sell them for profit. She can’t be accused of stealing and will in fact not steal. Her items are junk, but hey one girls junk is another person’s treasure. Now if you try to rip her off, you’ll learn exactly who she is, one the best natural Air benders any of her teachers have ever seen. But she doesn’t like air bending as she sees no challenge in it, and thus won’t do it often.

Background: She is dirt poor, but can make her way selling things on the street. She lives quite comfortably in fact but her appearance won’t let you in on that little secret.

[:.Role Play.:]

Leaving the Temple

“Puff of air, go there.” Kori muttered pointing her hand in yet another useless exercise of air bending.

Surprisingly, the effect was the same as that of any of her class mates who had actually done the proper movement. Only her’s didn’t knock over the stick. Kori looked up at the other teens around her and raised an eye brow. Did they seriously think that knocking over a stick was something to be proud of?

Apparently… The spins and grins of merriment around the carefree air benders of this temple was enough to make Kori gag. Was this all bending was for them? A game? She sighed and picked up her items and prepared to leave.

“Chakori.” The master Air bender called out to her, “Your stick is still in place, you can not leave-.”

Kori spun around, widening the stance of her legs and shifting her torso into a punch that was delivered with her open palm facing the stick. A gust of strong wind, appearing to flow from the movement of her hand out, forced not only the stick off the box, but the box itself to fall over.

“-yet…”

“May I go now Sefu?” Kori asked softly, knowing better than to directly challenge any of her superiors.

The Sefu sighed “I will see you tonight for some control practice Chakori, when the sun is about to set.”

Kori nodded, typical punishment for doing the assignment too well. She then turned to leave the practice room and return to her own. When she reached the hall way she looked down at her shoes and grimaced. Slowly she brought her head up as she looked to a fro, her ears attempting to catch even the slightest sound. Nothing. The soft movement of the air on her face was unhindered in its movement. It was safe.

She lifted her foot and left it fall slowly and softly onto the floor.

The stone felt nice on her feet, ice cold and smooth. She pushed foreword on the ball of her foot, and glided slowly out into the hall. Balancing on that foot she lifted her foot off the bamboo from the entrance way and let it up slowly before putting down next to the other.

Why couldn’t they just let everyone walk about barefoot all day? The stone was soft and cold, so nice to the touch….

She stepped foreword, still listening, still looking, as she made her way to her room. She opened the Curtin separating her room from the hall and practically jumped in out of fear for being caught.

She room was different then all the other rooms in the temple, there might be an air insignia on the floor in the center of her room, but it was covered by a Fire Nation rug. The walls had silks from the earth kingdom draped across the cold marble. She had Water nation skins over her futon on the ground.

The most significant difference in her room was the mounted twin black iron fans, with their bright green colors opened in a great display of deceptive beauty. They looked like normal fans, black colored with green. The fact that they could combat a sword was something she hid from the other peach loving monks she lived with.

In stead every day after air bending practice she would return here to do some real practice. She walked over to her wide open window and draped the earth kingdom green silks over the opening in the wall to cut off her actions from view.

She undid part of her robes, leaving what appeared to be a gold tube top with poofy pants on. She undid the loop hair style of female air bending monks and tied her hair into low buns, her preferred style. Then she turned to the fans.

Turning her right hand into a fist while keeping the other straight she struck the two together and bowed. Then as she parted her hands she slid her feet apart on the fire nation rug until she looked like a fire bender herself. She then lifted her back foot and with a thrust of her back hand, she reversed the pose while forcing air out at the two fans. The second the air flowed foreword she lifted her hand up higher, and brought the forefoot back up against her other leg so that she resembled a crane. Her hands went over her head in an arch until she faced behind where the fans previously hung.

The fans of which were currently being transported by the air above her head begun to fall behind her until she spun on point. This drew the air of the room into her. She quickly clasped the fans and with a jerk of pose completed her warm up, both fans in hand.

The pose she ended in was much like one in which like a fan dancer would start i; one fan hid her face, while the other was out to the side, ready to do anything she might need it to.

Then she began. She would slowly move to adjust her normal bending movements into the fan; correcting or innovating new ways to do the same movement. She wouldn’t actually put any bending into the movements or else her entire room would be in pieces.

She would repeat the movements over and over, once right after the other, holding some until she felt like the movement was a natural movement of her body. She would practice flipping the fans in the midst of movement, adding in blocking techniques.

Until the sun was about to set she worked. Having skipped dinner she was tired, but not tired enough that she would let the Sefu know. She returned the fans to their place on the wall by simply setting them back up.

She undressed and went over to her water basin and poured the water from this morning over her body. She quickly dried off and put on a new set of robes before setting out to meet the sefu for control practice.

As she met her door she glanced down at the shoes she had carried back to the room. Her face darkened and she sighed. Placing the two slippers on the stone in front of her room she stepped into them disliking the feeling of containment they brought, the artificial detachment from the ground. But she put up with it, knowing that many would be about right now and she would be easily caught.

When she slipped off her slippers at the practice room she bowed to the Sefu who sat before her.

“You were not at dinner Chakori.” The Sefu stated, her eyes still shut as she sat as if in meditation.

“I was not hungry Sefu.” Kori answered, as she knelt onto the ground before sitting. She folded her hands onto her lap and waited for the Sefu to begin.

“You are to remain here and not move until the sun rises.” The sefu explained. “Spend this time thinking, and control yourself so you do not move. I will fetch you in the morning,” The Sefu stood and quietly left the room.

Sitting. The Sefu wanted her to sit. Once again Kori missed the idea of a challenge, but respectfully remained, drifting into meditation.

~.'~.'~.'~.'~,'~

"Chakori!" A voice called in her mind, "Why are you always messing up?" A much younger Sefu appeared in front of her. The sefu turned and Kori saw a younger version of herself, in tears.

"I dun know wha' I did wrong!" the small child cried, tears pouring over and out of her eyes.

The sefu sighed and hugged the child, "If you just took life casually things would be fine..." She advised the child.

The younger Kori pushed against Sefu and looked as if she had been hit. "NO!" She screamed and ran off.

Kori remembered that time. She hated how relaxed people were in the temple. Nothing got done. She didn't learn anything because if she messed up no one cared. If they had anything to say to her about it, it was often "relax" and to blow it off all together.

But Kori wanted to be strong. She took her lessons seriously. She had to become her own disciplinarian in the end. Often this made the only place she could study her own room.

The remaining sefu faded and was replaced by Kori's younger self, this time slightly older, practicing the combative arts. One harsh swing of her arm and she was down.

The sefu ran in and gasped, covering her mouth. "I had heard but I didn't believe it!" She knelt by Kori and examined the many scrapes. She slapped one to make it red. younger Kori winced. "Combative arts aren't for Monks." The Sefu chided. "We use our gift of air bending as a defensive art against those who may attack us."

"That's why I'm learning to fight!" young Kori shouted, "You can't just defend yourself and expect to win!"

"Not true, Monks have used air bending for eons, and we still remain." The sefu explained offering the young Kori a hand to stand up.

Young Kori refused it, and got up on her own, "I wont use my air bending for meaningless defense. I can defend myself, my air bending will be my last resort." She then walked out of the room.

The air swept the image of the sefu away.

But the voices remained, "You will be a normal air bender."

"She's just in that stage, she'll be broken of it soon enough."

"All children admire fun, is she sick or something?"

"No Bison want her, what should we do?"

"Is she even an air bender beyond the obvious?"

The Real Kori winced. Then an idea struck her. What if she left? She looked side to side. Time had passed but knowing Sefu she would not be back for a bit.

Gently shifting her weight to her toes Kori stood up from her meditative position. She walked on her bare feet to the door, listened, and then slipped out to grab what she needed to bring with her.

Namely some of her earth kingdom garb, her fans, and some food she had stashed.

She tied the food into an old sheet the monks had given her when she arrived and put on the earth kingdom garb. She grabbed a green sash and before she wrapped it about her middle, she smirked and tied it over her arrow. She slipped on a pair of water tribe gloves, and about her wait she put on a fire nation belt. Leather, with straps for her fans.

She looked odd, but she didn't care. She quickly tied up the food, and on a thought grabbed a rather gaudy item she didn't care for much, but would be able to sell for a pretty penny.

Grabbing all other items of personal worth, she lifted a stone to the right of her room and proceeded to stuff them into the cellar that so far only Kori had known about.

When she was done the room looked bare, as if no one had ever lived there. Leaving the shoes behind she slipped from her room and padded over to a window.

"Chakori!" Sefu hissed from behind her. "You are supposed to be in the meditation room!"

Kori smirked and turned so that she was sitting of the ledge of a window, facing the sefu. "I was, then a realized how much I have had to put up with here for so little return. So I'm leaving."

"You are what?" Sefu's eyes became huge, "you have refused all lessons taught to you and you think its been unfair to you? Who has ME up this late?"

"Hey in about 10 seconds I'll be out of your hair, Ta!" Kori giggled before flipping over the edge onto the plat form below.

"Chakori get back here!"

"Nah!" She waved up at her Sefu, "I'll be back for my stuff later, mind you wont be able to find it, but I will be back for it!" She then jumped, without a glider, and without a bison.

Flipping out her fans she bent the air to allow her to glide down into the clouds, and the world below.
