hey guys i just wanted to know if any of you would like to start a new style of battling while roleplaying. if any of you have ever played dungeons and dragons or any games based on that then you should know this system pretty well. you start off with a special class to choose from, each with their pro's and con's, and the entire battle sequence is based by rolling dice and what types of modifiers each person has. so if any of you are interested in learning more about this style of fighting then just PM me and i'll talk more about it with you. If we get enough people, i'll start an arena in which i moderate the fights, cuz i got tons of dice at my house cuz i used to be the biggest dungeons and dragons fan. So like i said, if you want more realistic and fair battles, in which you can level up your characters, get new classes, spells, abilities, and weapons, and wanna just have a super fun time doing it all then just PM me, and if i get at least 5 people to come talk to me about it and interested in starting this kind of battling, i'll just ask Lonewolf if i can start one of these arenas. So please, i encourage you to ask more about it. I've been battling using dice since i was 12 and i love it. It gives more sense of accomplishment when you battle. And if any of you guys wanna start an RP thread like this then let me know and i'll be dungeon master. I'm quite talented with telling these tales, and giving decriptions of areas. if any of you are reading this immediately, then respond in this thread because i'll be here for about 10 more minutes. okiedokie.

Dungeons and Dragons hmm? Well, I won't allow another battle arena thread(considering we already have one), hoewever, an RP thread with this style of fighting and its own seperate storyline is a good idea. You're more then welcome to start it. 3nodding

oh and lonewolf, the battle arena that i was thinking of is entirely different. I have a map of what the arena looks like which i can post a link to it if you want to see it. But this is how the arena would work:
It would consist of me moderating the battles. Like the to battlers would send me the tactics they wish to use such as :
round 1: Arkiteqt (lvl 20 wizard, lvl 20 cleric) vs stupidface (lvl 1 fighter)
move 1: Arkiteqt: go invisible then wait to enemy to appear. stupidface: charge into center of arena.
move 2: ArkiTeQt: cast flaming strike stupidface: attck with sword when he sees enemy.
so lets just say that these are the tactics i get sent in. The battlers would do nothing in the actual arena themselves. they could busy themselves doing something else why i moderate the fight. So then i do all the dice rolling at my house so this is how the fight would be staged:
Scene: both competitors walk to their own side of the arena awaiting the match to begin. Suddenly the announcer comes booming through the PA system: "Ladies, and gentlemen. the fight you've all been waiting for! New to this arena and definatley showing no talent whatsoever is the challenger Stupidface. The arena reigning champion has been outlawed from every country in the world and spends most of his time confusing people with his riddles until he gets bored and smites them with fire...give it up for ArKiTeQt!!!. Battlers begin.
move 1: Arkiteqt quickly mutters an incantation to himself an instantly vanishes(Roll: 12+12=24, success). He slowly walks into the middle of the arena.
Supidface charges to the center heading straight for Arkiteqt but stops after he vanishes. "what the...". he steps back and waits.
move 2: Arkiteqt makes a motion of his hand (roll 16+12=28, success). The heavens open up as a trail of light begins to appear. all of a sudden Stupidface looks up too late to see what is happening. He gets hit full on with he spell (dmg: 40d8 [+d8 per lvl] roll: dmg 286.) Stupidface stands there in shock. His body begins to glow with the light around him. Then he begins to tremble and his body explodes into dust and flames.
Announcer: "THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! ARKITEQT WINS AGAIN. CAN ANYBODY STOP THIS TERRIFYING MAGE? MAYBE HIS OLD MASTER, ELMINSTER, CAN PUT HIM BACK INTO HIS PLACE"
so after the fight, the person who won gets to lvl up. so Arkiteqt is at his max so he cant. but the loser still has to stay at his or her lvl until he/she wins a battle. After the battle is won, the winner has to do the required level up steps. then post or PM their newly leveled up character abilities, weapons and all to me so i can double check that no cheating is happening. And thats about it.

I've always wanted to learn D&D so badly but nobody I know has/plays it. I'm guessing success/failure of casting a spell is based on a roll of dice? Harder/stronger spells require a higher roll to be successful or am I just being stupid?
Anyways Count me in!

thank you so much guys for showing interest in this game. The rules i'm afraid are fairly long so i might post a link to the site with them so that you may refer to them whenever you would choose. I will also post links to the character races and classes, spells, weapons, abilities and so forth. The D&D book is so freaking long and if would take me forever to type it out sweatdrop . so sorry for making you all go to the links...they should be up by noon though...unless i cant find any, then i'd be utterly screwed, lol. But if you want to keep the book on hand, i'm sure i could find a couple of download sites where you could download the entire D&D V3.5 manual. Lol i'll have to read parts of it too because i'm still playing v2. like i said, thanks again for your interests, and i'll get to work on it right away.

I know the battle arena you want is entirely different. However, one battle arena is enough. But you can use the same battle system in a new RP for that game.

Never heard of Wizards of the Coast, but I'll take your word for it. Anyway, how will die rolls be handled? isn't there a website that's a randomizer thing?

Wizards of the Coast is the company that helped in the making of D&D and they also created Magic the Gathering. But as far as dice rolling, i have a randomizer on my computer, and millions of dice too wink . But if you're worried about me cheating please don't because that would be stupid and would totally defeat the purpose of having this new storyline.
