i am new to upright and i'm thinking about purchasing one, what are some of the good to best quality upright companies?

i mean like, what companies would be the taylor of uprights? along with companies that are a little lower quality but still nice

Wow upright is way to hardcore for me... I don't know any thing about those at all.

At lemurmusic.com They have awsome uprights there.
But when you find one that you want dont order it online. Try and find the bass at a music store.
Shipping can mess the hell out of it.

thanks. but no music stores in my area would sell uprights, and even if they did, it would be tough to bring it home.

King makes a pretty good Doublebass. Most major guitar sellers carry these, although few will have them in-store Try checking samash.com, musiciansfriend.com, zzounds.com, etc. They can be pretty expensive, but totally worth it
btw, I don't own a standup. I've played several, but I couldn't justify buying one, as much as I'd love to.

but those are sooooooooo increadebly hard to get and expensive
if you should ever get your hands on (you would be a lucky s.o.b.)and never get rid of it
and a little advice about resin
never leave it out of the case
i did lol and it melted

As for the top of the line double bass by today's standards, Upton, Shenn, and UB Hawkes come to mind, and they run about $3,000 new, but older basses like Kay and Frank DiLeone can go for $20,000 EASY.

Rum_Soaked_Werewolf strativarious is a very old ancient maker of all things orchestra i mean like as in early 1500's! Late 1600's actually, and its not a company but a family (the Stradivari family), most notably Antonio Stradivari.
