((Whee, retrograde xd ; )) Trembling under the cover of a stoney side-cave off Pride Rock, Mut carefully licked at her wounds. The pain was very real, making her whimper and weep with each lick over the cuts. Flattening her ears back, the lioness did her best to keep control of herself.
What had happened...? What had she said wrong? And what had happened in her head? Who were those lions, why were they there, and... What did they have to do with her, and Kabichi?
She had no idea what was going on, what was wrong with her, but instinct told her... Her brothers and sisters didn't do it. They didn't have the same thing going on. Each lick over each wound made her mind twinge, as if trying to reach for it. Flicking her tail a bit, she huddled in the cave, alone, away from everybody else. She felt like a freak and wanted not to be bothered.

He'd been gone for a few days, wandering the dunes of the desert... But always, always, Danzi returned to Pride Rock. Though he harboured the scent of the desert and the lioness he'd been with, he walked the paths with confidence.
As he started to climb the rocky face of the giant monolith the pride called home, he caught a whiff of the scent of blood. Somebody was either bringing their prey in... Or somebody had been injured. Following his nose, the rust-orange lion quickly found himself in his father's former home, where Mut was hiding.
A pang resounded in his soul as he realised, in his bid for time away... He'd 'abandoned' his adopted family. But the fact Mut had taken up residence in the cave to hide her wounds from the rest of the pride tugged at Danzi a bit. He sighed, then padded in. "Mut... What happened...?"

Mut shifted, looking away a bit. "I... I..." She couldn't quite say it, but she knew she had to. "I met a strange lion earlier, and... And she attacked me..." She shuddered, curling a bit. She'd done a stupid thing, being so open and trusting of just anybody. Had she always been so stupid...? She worried that she may have been. How many lions thought her easy to fool, to get close to and hurt...? It gave her some insecurities, it really did.

The normally kind and gentle lion suddenly bristled, anger filling his green eyes. "A lion attacked you...?" A growl tore from his throat as he started to pace, pausing only to smack old bones out of the way. "You need to tell me who, Mut... Or at least what they look like... They won't go unpunished for it." His tail lashed, and for a moment... He was the picture of his father, displeased and looking almost... Murderous.

Mut shivered again, watching her adopted brother pacing. For a moment, she was actually... Afraid of him. The murder that glowed in his eyes... But the fact it wasn't directed at her placed her fears at ease enough to stop the strange happenings in her mind from surfacing again. "She was... she was white... With gold eyes... And..." She whimpered, trying to remember. "Her toes were all black, and so was her tail hair, and... There were two black rings on her tail..." She squeezed her eyes a moment, then shook her head. "I can't remember any more."

Danzi nodded, jumping on a rock shelf. "If that lion returns to the Pridelands... I'll..." He dug his claws into the stone, feeling a strange euphoria from it. "I don't know what I'll do..." He pondered, looking out the mouth of the cave. After a moment, his ears vanished into his black mane. "I'll take her into the desert... And leave her for a Firekin to find..." Yes, that would work... He continued to dig his claws into the hard stone, mulling over the plan until he fell asleep. He'd take her into the desert... And pray he ran across Bodaway or Ripuka to hand her off to.

The lioness couldn't say she liked the plan... But the other lion had left her scarred and afraid. The only good part was that she would never be QUITE so trusting of lions she knew not. She watched Danzi fall asleep, then finished licking her wounds. A sigh escaped the peachy-tan lioness before she lay down her head and fell asleep herself. Her dreams were plagued that night by thoughts of strange cloudy lions and twinkling stars.
