It was amazing how one individual in childish fury could rock her foundations so. Sheba could barely creal the last moment she had been so shaken. It had been so long ago and brought on by the death of a dear friend. It seemed rediculous that the god of pleasure's words would have this effect. She was dazed as she soared through the skies, paying little attention to where the wind paterns took her. Finally, emotionally exauhsted, she banked sharply to the left and drifted down to the tree tops of the jungle below. She never rested in the mortal world, but it seemed unavoidable at this point.

You could never seem to comprehend what life had in store for you. To think not long after he had become content with remaining with Lin he would fin his sister. Even more surprising was to think she had a mate and children. he had felt torn between new and old loyalties. But his sister had won out in his heart. Family always came first. He could not change that. He had taken some time away from his sister and the cubs, coping with mixed emotions of joy and sorrow. And yet he had no regrets. He never did. He came to rest at the edge of a small clearing with the intent to peer up at the stars. What he ended up seeing, however, was far different.

Sheba landed past the parted trees, far less graceful then usual. Her large wingds dragged against the ground and her head drooped a little low. But when she found she was not alone she jerked upright. She made a small attempt to gain her usual composure, even if the male shaded by the trees was a dear and loyal follower. She might be scattered, but she still had a role to play. "Sir Vian, it has been a while," he voice barely managed to keep control, though she knew inwardly she was happy to see the male.

The male slide swiftly to his feet, standing in the presence of a goddess he gladly served. For a strong male he was surprisingly graceful. He shifted his weight forward, lifting one paw and making an courtly bow to her. "Too long, My Lady," he agreed. He had not seen the goddess since his time in the desert. It was an odd relationship, so to speak. Sheba had, in fact, cursed his family line, though now the curse should be broken since he saw his sister with an avian companion. None the less he revered her. Her domain was an admirable one to follow.

Despite being a bit out of sorts Sheba found herself relaxing slightly. Vian made it easy to stand up tall again. It didn't banish self-doubts or solve any of the questions swirling in her mind, but it did give her a momentary break. She gave a nod, standing back on her haunches and lifting her front paws slightly. "I pray you've been well?" she questioned politely. She knew he was honest, but if something was wrong he wouldn't tell her outright. Perhaps that was a bit like herself...she certainly wasn't blubbering to him about her problems, at least not on a whim.

Despite the sad parting from earlier, he couldn't rightly say he was unhappy or unwell. He smiled slightly, stating truthfully, "I have been." After all, what more could he ask for then his reunion with his little sister? It was a rathe daft question, because there were a few things he could ask for...but he wouldn't trade his finding of his sister for them. Things just didn't work that way.

He eyed the goddess thoughtfully, but not without respect. He added carefully, still very diplomatic and formal with his diety, "But what of you, My Lady? You don't look at all well. Is everything fair with you...?"

Sheba blinked lavender orbs, briefly showing her surprise. Her expressioned softened slightly, to take on a bit more of a weary look. "Must you always be so observent, Sir Vian? Or is it really that horribly obvious...?" she asked sadly, settling back to sit instead of perching stiffly on two feet. Vian had always been a clever and empathetic male. She shouldn't have been so shocked to have him notice. It did make her worry, however, that she was a little too unsettled and that it might be affecting her own duties. After her childhood, neglecting them was the last thing she wanted.

"Well," Vian murmured, lifting a brow casually in her direction, giving his interaction with her a little more informality then normal, "I simply guessed by the look of your hair...you always keep it so neat, My Lady, I supposed you might be upset if you let it nest about so." With a humble nod of his head he tried to hide a small, gentle smile. "May I, My Lady?" He asked, gesturing to her bedraggled hair. He could not mend the ragged braid, but he could possibly sort through the tangles with his claws. She looked as if she needed a bit of comfort, even if she wouldn't admit it.

Sheba hesitated, her ears flickering back in uncertainty. She was not used to such informal interaction, at least not since her childhood days, and they did not bring back many fond memories. But Vian could already tell she was a mess...what was the point of denying it? If she could trust anyone it was him. He had been a follower for a long time and rarely did he ever faulter willingly in his responsibilities. Besides, she knew him to be wise and caring. It was just his nature. She nodded slowly, letting out a small, quivering breath, "As you wish."

The striped male moved over to the goddess he's steps slow, but with purpose. Coming along beside her he sat behind her back, just out of reach of her wings. Lifting a careful paw he laced his claws in her unraveling braid and began to undo it. He took his time, not wanting to pull on the hair and he was no expert with such things besides keeping his mane relatively neat from dirt and other such things. Finally getting most of it down he began to comb through the long white strands and murmured gently, "So, My Lady, is there anything troubling you? I hope you don't mind me asking."

Sheba admitted inwardly that the attention to her hair felt wonderfully soothing, especially when she had been so stressed of late. She was, however, reluctant to dump her troubles upon another. She was silent for a long time, looking grim as she mused over her problems. But if anyone could be honest with her it was Vian. And she found she needed to know. "Sir Vian...am I...a horrible Goddess?" she asked tentitively, barely keeping the dread from her voice, "Do I cause everyone nothing but grief?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 24, 2007 5:16 pm

Vian was a little startled by the question, but he didn't show it appart from pausing his strokes for a heartbeat. Then he continued, waiting a bit to gather his thoughts and be sure she was ready to listen to what he had to say. For even a goddess needed advice at times. "You are a wondeful goddess, My Lady," he began slowly and carefully, "You cause no one grief who does not deserve it. But you cannot please everyone. That is simply life, beg your pardon, My Lady." He waited for a moment before asking softly, "But are you happy with it, My Lady? That is the most important thing."

"Am I happy?" she echoed, looking a bit wild eyed. Such a thought seemed crazy. What did it matter if she was happy...? As a child all she had done was serve herself, make herself "happy" and neglect her domain. It had led to so much turmoil...and even a few deaths. Such memories left deep scars on her soul and she was reluctant to face her own feelings with them still lingering there. But since he was honest with her, she could not turn him away and play him false. She swallowed and said quietly, "I...suppose not...I...don't really know." She didn't.

"My Lady, if you'll forgive me, I must be frank with you," Vian said, pulling his paws away and setting them on the ground. He looked at her intently, searchingly, but he found she would not look at him since she was facing away. That did not keep him from speaking his mind. "You have simply gone from one extreme to another in your life time. What you need is balance," he leaned back slightly, curling his tail around his paws and continued to watch her, "You need not abandon yourself for the sake of others....you have a duty to your domain and to mortals. But you also have one to yourself."

Sheba finally turned, her stands of white hair slipping neatly over her shoulders. She looked at him for a long moment with confused eyes. But finding only truth in his face and in her words she felt...lighter, but more confused then she had been before. But no longer did she fear that she was a horrible person. Perhaps Vian was right...perhaps she neede to rethink her life in general. She wasn't sure where to begin...but she'd give it a bit of time. Perhaps a starting point would present itself. She smiled, looking a bit embaressed, "...thank you for your wisdom, Sir Vian. You have done more then you ever had to in regards to me." She stood slowly, somehow thinking finding peaceful solace was best right now...somewhere where she could think.

She took a few steps more towards the open and said to him, almost an after thought, "Sir Vian...Your thread to your sister is important, but now it is shared...don't abandon your new thread...it might possibly need you far more then your sister does." And with that she took flight and disappeared over the tree tops.
