A topic that does what it says on the tin.
Let's compare what we all think about the highs and lows of the franchise. Is it a character behaving either exceptionally or off-model that gets you down, an event that just doesn't fit or seemed like a godsend, a storyline that just didn't work for you or blew you away?
What made that moment special - either for the right or wrong reasons?

Best moment? I know a lot of you will disagree, but for me, the best moment was when Shadow sacrificed himself to save the Earth in Sonic Adventure 2. It was very touching, and a great ending.
Worst moment? Hmm... So many to choose from. sweatdrop Probably one of the Sonic Sez things from AoStH. blaugh

Worst moment? Hmm... So many to choose from. sweatdrop Probably one of the Sonic Sez things from AoStH. blaugh Hmmm... For me, it's more of a case of personal taste and ideals rather than any seriously crap writing or artwork (of which there's been quite a bit). As you say, seeing something like Shadow's sacrifice and realising that the game continuity (which is the one that the others're all prodded to emulate occasionally) wasn't afraid to throw in emotional or symbolic moments like that was very pleasant. And the worst probably has to be either: 1. The moment I realised that Tails was nothing more than a random background extra if he even appeared in episodes of SatAM (since even AoStH let him be the techie prodigy he's supposed to be and save the day occasionally). 2. Having my worst fears confirmed about Sonic X being really Chris X, and that I'd be watching some random human brat (and very occasionally the hedgehog) in the spotlight. It just struck me as a tragic waste of a continuity which was borrowing so much of its cast and plot from the games.

This is alot harder than it seems, I'm really torn to pick a favourite scene, as I'm not overly moved by cliché melodrama which comes from some deaths, love confessions etc etc. That said, I'm rather partial to Gamma's "death" scene, especially the Sonic X (Japanese version, of course. The dub just repeats the same two lines of badly VA'd dialouge during the entire fight) adaption of it, the way they not only unify Lily and her family, but also Gamma and Beta with their hands locked together. It's very very sweet.
Plus, Amy is increasingly growing on me in the "fave character" department, and her place in the scene is not forgotten.
Worst, however, I can say Lew Stringer's existance on this planet is the biggest one biggrin
Seriously, for non-Fleetway fans here are some highlights:
"Channel Hoppers" - The Teletubbies are making people go crazy. Can Tails stop them?!
"Recipie for Disaster" - All of TV's chefs are having disasters, Tails finds the villain is a TV chef who was offing the competition and now wants to bake our two-tailed hero into a souffle!
(So crap I can't remember the title) - Amy and Tekno the Cannery are caught in the middle of a fashion crime, that is, clothes with microchips are forcing people to rob banks.
(I wish I were making this up folks)
and of course, the characters he created aswell:
Fabian Vane - Michael Jackson parody character, he can't sing, he's ugly and egotistical, but thanks to the wonders of buying stuff, he is a star (though no one likes him). He often finds himself being on the run from his own fans and employees, Amy often gets duped into rescuing him. I hate him. I hate him alot.
Norris Wimple - SUPER GEEK! A parody on "Chris Evans" (of UK fame, not the movie actor who will be Johnny Storm in the F4 movie), he often finds his geekish tendancies getting him in trouble. He invented "badnik spotting" and wore a Sonic suit to entice them, he ended up getting captured. He also takes pictures of UFOs, which the Doctor Robotnik Appreciation Tribe (...don't ask) believe are Robotnik's newest weapons.
-
Let's just say that the entire of Fleetway was a big embarrasement if it had the words "COMPLETE STORY" on it.
Often "New 2 parter" aswell.

Eeek!
All that ranting, and my memory was completely blanking out some of Stringer's filler atrocities. It took me a long time to get into that state, Samwise... *shakes fist*
As usual, I reserve my wrath for It's Raining Bananas. I respect the novel use of rhyme to tell a Sonic story and even the fact that it was a reasonable rhyme scheme, but... ummm... what was the point?
For anyone who wants a plot summary: look at the title. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

I was going to mention that, but decided to get the nastier offenders out of the way first, as always, when I'm typing a long post at work, I forgot by the time I had finished.

Worst moment?
When Shadow came back to life. Hey, I liked the guy, but when he's not evil anymore and lots of other characters can do Chaos Control, then he really loses his role in the story. He isn't Mr Awesome Nemesis anymore, he's just Token Angsty Character. Unless Shadow finds some reason to be evil again, I really don't care if he ever returns in a Sonic game.
I just hope Metal Sonic never turns good...

I just hope Metal Sonic never turns good...Hearing you say that, I have to ask... Have you seen the Sonic: the Movie OAV? Well, sure, but that was a stand-alone movie with no relation to the games continuitiy. Haven't seen it, but I wish I could. I do know the story of it, anyway.
At least the games' Metal Sonic is consistently evil.

I love the possibilities of the Metal Sonic character and am intrigued by him to no end, but as far as Sega have explored him, he's just another evil clone character of Sonic.
I'm sick of clone characters, Shadow or Metal Sonic, pick one, stick with it, move on.
At least Rouge and Cream have the dignity not to look identical to the people they are copies of, aswell as having very fasinating characters and stories. Shadow's story is over, now he's just a mindless Sonic clone with angst. Metal's story is just beggining, he has the potential for greatness, but if Sonic Heroes is what we have to judge from, then he isn't worth screentime either.

My best time was the Final bout in Sonic Adventure 2. I was all pumped up, and actually beat him on my first try, although I had, like, 2 or 3 riungs left at the end. xd
The worst was probably the whole AoStH series.
Sonic Heroes was a REALLY big let down. the funny thing is, I still can't beat it because I can't get the third goddamn emerald for the life of me. I beat all the stories, and have 6 emeralds. *Kicks Game* The special stages just suck.

Best way to get Emeralds is use Team Rose to get to the special stage (shorter levels and easier difficulty) and then switch to Power character (Big) and keep pressing dash, collecting the balls until you reach it. You should get to the emerald within 15 seconds if done correctly.

The special stages are no fun at all. heck, I liked the Original Genesis Sonic 1's special stages better. you could actually maneuver properly when need be.
