It was a beautiful day in the clover-sprinkled meadow. It might have been peaceful as well, but it is hard for a place to be peaceful when three foals are at play. Especially if they were the offspring of Tsani and Akila. Lately it seemed like what peace Halia's parents received came when all three were soundly asleep, unless Natsiya was babysitting so they could...ahem...sneak away for a bit. Anyways.
Halia, of course, was showing her brothers that she could do just as much as they could, and just as well too. The current challenge? Tag. The filly was running at a headlong gallop through the meadow, in hot pursuit of one of her brothers.

If I had thought that my sister meant to run around when she suggested we do something other then what we had been doing, I would never have agreed to such a thing. After all, I might get dirty again! And where would that put us?
So now I had trotted off ahead and circled back around, to hide in the shadows and watch her chase our brother. Let HIM do the running, I'll find a nice pond to wash up in...

Saquui would admit he wasn't going to beat his sister in matters of speed; she got their mother's long stride, not him.
But he DID have his father's quick thinking. At least, the colt felt he did. He was just going to have to sharpen it up to match.
Grinning, he slowed to a trot, glancing back as his sister's frantic hoofbeats drew closer.

Halia was already distracted wondering where Aurum had gotten off to, so she didn't have time to be suspicious of Saquui's sudden slowing of pace. Honestly, Aurum was such a sissy! Maybe Mister-I-have-to-keep-clean would like hide-and-seek bet-- The filly's thought processes were abruptly interrupted by crashing hard into Saquui's pale blue rump. Dazed, she shook her head and glared at him. "You're still it now!" With that, she whirled and took off again, a bit wobbily at first. Maybe she'd find Aurum while she led Saquui on this merry little chase.

I couldn't help it, but I let out a loud, neighing laugh from my hiding spot as Halia collided with Saquui. What a clutz, maybe she should be practicing her graces, rather than running around the field like a crazy horse. She wasn't nearly as pretty as me, so that's already one thing she's got going against her. If she acts like a boy too, well...
I was curious, though, what Saquui was up to, just stopping like that. It didn't seem very clever, but maybe if I continued to watch, I'd figure out what my brother was up to.

The colt took his new title in stride, wheeling to pursue his sister on a much steadier legs. But still, wow, no way was he going to catch her so easily. Halia didn't need wings to fly. It made him wonder how father ever caught mother.
Father had said it was because mother fell for things easily, but that had only gotten him a pointed disagreement with a n** of the ears.
Sequui snickered as he veered wide from her path. They were both faster than stumpy old Aurum, at least.

Violet ears flicked forward at the sound of a braying laugh. So Aurum thought it would be funny to hide and watch, did he? With a mischievous giggle, Halia turned slightly so that she was heading straight for the sound. Maybe if she ran right by him...Sequui would tag him instead.
