The hatchling let out a timid yelp as the darkened shadow crossed her path. Oh, it's just a black cat. Nothing to be afraid of, she told herself. But she hurried on through the forest nonetheless. The sky was growing rapidly darker, and strange hoots and howls were seeping through the once-comforting forest.

Looking up towards the sky, coal-black clouds covered the horizon in all directions. I've never seen that before... she watched the sky for a second longer, before continuing on her trail. Whatever this all is, it can't be good. Reinforced by her reliable intuition, that single fact -that piece of definite information- comforted her. Any comfort was welcome in a darkness like this.

Rennik cursed under his breath as he carried sacks of sand across the work site. There had been an attack a few days ago yet no one had been taken or killed. The dragon simply came and went, causing damage but not too much that couldn't be fixed. Rennik was working on one of the southern walls now, these walls did little to keep out dragons, which was their original purpose, but did help a great deal in keeping out wild animals and stopping floods. It was late and Rennik was exhausted from the days work. Normally he would have been able to pull through much easier but with Cornelius growing with each passing day and the constant suppervision required to take care of him it was a surprise Rennik hadn't collapsed already. He hadn't visited Cornelius that morning, he had gotten back too late the night before and over slepted this morning. There was no way he would have been able to run off to say hello to Cornelius without getting caught. Rennik grunted as he dropped the sack of sand with the others, slowly forming a temporary wall where the previous one had been knocked down.

Rennik rubbed his eyes hard, his shoulders ached and sweat coated every part of his body. It was a cool night, Rennik was grateful but it wasn't cool enough. His flame red hair stuck to his forhead as he pulled his shirt back and forth as to get a breeze on his chest. His goggles laid over his eyes as to keep any lone grains of sand away and out of his green orbs. He'd most likely be pulling an all nighter today, the work needed to be done quickly incase another attack was to come. Hopefully he'd be given a day off tomorrow or the day after. But even that would be taken up by Cornelius, Rennik was glad to have Corny. He was like a younger brother that Rennik did not have yet Rennik could only wonder what would come from him. Rennik snapped back to attention as he heard the call of his name, back to work. Rennik jogged back towards his work mates, today was going to be a long night.

Cornelius had spent most of his day waiting for Rennik, why hadn't he shown up that morning? Had something happened? Curiosity had shook Cornelius to the core before he finally gave into his temptation and snuck a look hoping to find Rennik. He hadn't caught sight of the red head but he did watch others. Something had happened the day before and the village in which Rennik resided in seemed to have taken some damage. He saw workers moving left and right carrying debree and other items as to fix what had been broken. Cornelius watched for a few minutes before quickly scurrying back to where he had came. He didn't want Rennik to know he had come so close to the other humans, he would be scolded for doing such things. But they seemed like nice people, he meant no harm. Why would they not like Corny's company when he only wished to say high and spark some small talk?

Cornelius sniffed around the forest in which he spent his days in. It was rather lonely and Cornelius would kill for some company. Okay, perhaps not kill but he would deffinatly ask nicely. The poor dragon's only companions were the plants and insects that surrounded him. Animals were rare to find seeing how a majority of them were hunted down by the village people or by Cornelius for food when Rennik was unable to show. Cornelius released a slow breath through his mouth that some would assume was a sigh. He walked through teh forest, moving in familiar territory as to not get lost like his previous venture through. Coal clouds were covering the darkening sky, rather unusal in Cornelius's opinion. Cornelius made a sharp turn as to retreat back to where he had came. Perhaps Rennik had shown up, giving him a quick visit before returning to his days work. Just as he did so he heard the sound of footsteps on earth, he turned back around. Was it Rennik? His heart beat faster with the thought as he dashed in its direction, only to come face to face with another dragon.

Cornelius stared at her for a few seconds, a minute, perhaps two. He was speechless, his blue eyes scanned her yet he said nothing.

Sitting back onto her haunches suddenly in a queer sitting position, Madeira found herself snout-to-shout to this strange new creature.

Slowly and carefully, she stood up to walk carefully around the blue dragon in a single circle. Slowly sniffing at the bright runes on his flank, she could smell slight traces of magic lingering on him. Sitting down in front of him again, the awkward, oppressive silence came down on them once more. "Well... who are you?" she asked, clearly trying to hold back a torrent of questions. She drew even closer to peer into his eyes, as if an answer was waiting for her there.

-Though silent Michel was up in the tree watching them as his hatchling sat in his lap looking rather sickly. Michel knew what the tainted dragon needed but it was the choice of getting the food for it or let it find out what to do.-

-Michel jumped down in between the two his dark hair came across his face as his red eyes glanced at both of them.-
"Hello, I am Michel."

-he then raised his hand before either of them could speak.-
"Now your wondering, how and why I am here, for since I am a wandering artist I took a path which man can't nearly understand for I lived and will live on with history...is the reason why I am here."

-he pointed to Dark that sat half asleep in the tree.-

"How I am here...My Friend has fallen ill and I am in search for an elixir to bring him back to his health, and yet thought you two would be of assistance."

Cornelius watched the female dragon walk ina complete circle around him, she didn't seem like she'd attack him or anything. He hoped she wouldn't at least. She asked who he was and Cornelius wondered if he should answer, he had never seen another dragon before. To speak truthfully he had thought he was the last one left, perhaps it was due to Rennik's constant warning that humans would fear him. Cornelius assumed that human feared what they were unknown to, that would mean he was the last dragon, right? Cornelius realized now that Rennik did not mean that but something else. Cornelius believed that giving this dragon his name would do no harm, after all she might be willing to be his friend.

The young dragon was unable to speak a word when a man jumped down from a tree. A humn, Cornelius thought of running off. If Rennik found out that a human had saw him he'd most likely never hear the end of it. But this human, now known as michel, was not human. He surely looked it and Cornelius would have claimed him as such if it wasn't for his scent and the uneasy feeling he felt in the man pressence. He spoke about history and a path he had chosen, Cornelius was lost in confusion.

Then he pointed upward into the tree in which Cornelius guess he had jumped down from. Another dragon?! Cornelius let out a low huff of joy. His happiness quickly stopped as he heard Michel speak, was the dragon sick? Cornelius thought this over, did he need medicine? The man had introduced himself first, the least Cornelius could do was tell him about the village and how Rennik would be able to retrieve him the medicine he needed. "There's a small village right outside the forest, my human friend, Rennik, can help you find what you need. He'd be willing to help." How naive the dragon was, Rennik should have taught him to never speak to strangers.

-Michel notice how much the runs stood out on the dragon now that he was closer and thought. 'I am going to have to be on my toes a bit.' Michel lowered his hand then listen to what the rune dragon spoke while sensing how the Dragon reacted.-
"A small village."
-Michel made a sigh of relief.-
"I knew I was probably close..."
-Michel then thought about how the dragon had a human friend as well.-
"Rennik.. you say?"
-Dark let out a slight moan and Michel touched the side of his face in pain and realize his fangs started to grow and just lightly scrapped his finger against his tooth and held back his head completely covering his fangs at the same time allowing the blood drip down his face imitating a bloody nose.-

"Blast this cold weather."

-Dark up in the tree slowly tilted his head and then jumped down from the tree and slowly rubbed his head against Michel's pant leg-

"well thank you "My Dragon Friend." but we need to find this town before Dawn to meet some arrangements."

-Dark then looked at the female sending a chill like he was looking through her spirit.-
"Don't talk to strangers."

-Michel then patted Dark.-
"Now Now.. they were kind... but lets go fix this bloody nose of mine and head to the village to get that elixir you need."

-They both started walking off towards the village but the strange thing is you didn't tell them which direction the village was.-

A chill racked Madeira's body when the stranger looked at her. 'Michel', wasn't it? But there was something blatantly unnatural in his crimson eyes. But.. was that inflicted fear, whispered threats... the slightest smell of Dark blood in the air?! This has gone too far.

"Stop! Don't you go anywhere until you explain yourself in full!" She shouted after him. Stomping the ground in temper, she let a slight bit of magic into her words with a touch of persuasion, even if she didn't realize it. But the small pebbles shaking by her forepaws were a sure sign.

-Michel stopped as he sensed the magic toy with his senses and she slightly laughed as he removed his hand from his face and his fangs lightly rested on his lips-

-Dark laid now and grunted not liking where this is going.-

"ok, what would you like me to explain ... for I haven't lied or harmed you... as of yet."

Slowly sitting down, Madeira coiled her tail neatly around her talons as the stranger turned to face her once more. Considering his response, she paused and cocked her head in thought.

"First off. What are you?" she asked, her voice echoing loudly in the strangely silent woods. Glancing at the blue dragon, now behind her, she hoped he wouldn't do anything stupid, like interrupting her questioning of this most unusual suspect.

Shifting her gaze back to the... person, she fixed him with an expectant stare, twitching her wings in anticipation.

Cornelius had no idea what was going on nor what would happen next. The female dragon he had met previously had stopped the human and his dragon as they walked off. Cornelius was going to ask how they new which direction the village was in, after all he had never told the human nor dragon yet they seemed to know where they were going. Then the man removed his hand from his face revealing fangs. Cornelius had expected a nose bleed as the man had said yet he had lied. Was this human good or bad? Rennik had warned him about being cautious, why hadn't he listened?

Cornelius decided to stay behind the female dragon, the magic she used proved that she knew what she was doing. Or atleast she knew more then Cornelius, Cornelius watched the pebble near her forepaw shake viciously. It was fascinating, so much magic! Cornelius watched her and the human named Michel. He believed that it was best for him to sit back and be quiet, that and he had seen the look in the dragons glance all too many times. He was to sit back and allow her to do what she intended to do, when something went wrong he'd jump in to help.

Hopefully nothing went wrong!

-He notice how the Dragon position herself and how the other wasn't speaking and he closed his eyes-

"I am your human friend, at least that's what I thought till you interrogated me."

-He was slowly gaining a temper for he didn't wish to deal with magic or if this Dragon had a situation similar to his and Dark's. Let alone he shall not forget about the other.-

-Dark slowly rose his head and glanced at her let alone this time sending a calming feeling to make her feel less on edge but cause he was so ill from hunger she was able to sense his hunger as her own.-

Blinking once, Madeira felt a sudden hungriness, as if she hadn't eaten in weeks. Glancing back at the blue dragon (who looked a little too well fed), she wondered if he had any questions as well. Hesitation set in quickly, followed by a touch of self-doubt. That other dragon wasn't objecting to what that strange man said and did. Why should she?

But the pebbles near her forepaws shook uncontrollably once as a strange clearness of mind swept through her. The sweet honey of persuasion swept into her tone once more, as she carefully regarded the man again. "Interrogation? I am merely a bit concerned for what is walking though my forest, and into the town of humans." she tilted her head to the sick dragon. "And whether anyone else can get sick like him." Noting her own small speech, she drew her head up a little bit higher in self-confidence. "And I'm not letting you leave without some answers."

"Your just a beginner..."

-Dark stood up-
"Do you want me to die?"

-Michel was slight surprise his dragon was being but this seemed to be leading to a fight since this dragon kept using her magic.-

"Dark you shouldn't be blunt right now for these two are just like you and I, but live for what they chose to live for or what their human friend tells them to."
-Michel was growing tire with these questions just as Dark felt the need to find food but these dragons are not the type of prey he needs not when he is fatigued like this-

-Dark waited for an answer none the less from her.-

Madeira let out a loose rumble of sound at Dark, just short of a growl. "Want you to die? Don't insult me. I'm not like those vampire dragons you hear about, terrorizing the-" stopping short, she came to a very fast realization. Tail drooping, eyes wide, she stared at the two, now conscious of how much she had just aggravated and disturbed them. Recollecting memories of terrifying stories she had heard of the Tainted dragons- No. Wait. There was no definite proof of her accusations.

Attempting to regain composure, she cleared her throat and answered, a bit more calmly and without a strong use of magic, "I have a right to be concerned about what happens where I live. What effects my decisions, not my 'human friend''s decisions." In that last bit, she couldn't help but let a little bit of contempt in her voice.

Glancing back at the blue dragon, she privately wondered what use he could be in a fight. Hopefully not a pushover, but maybe he had magic too, from the looks of those runes, so similar to her own...

-Dark knew what she was thinking when she stopped at her sentence and weakly said-
"I am sorry that I did insult you."

-Michel looked at the two dragons-
"I understand your concern for it matters to you, but if I were you I would simply just let us pass and forget you ever talked to us. For I promise you that I would not lie and you pin pointed us and you've started to drop your guard."

-Michel glanced at the blue one that has been silent this whole time then back at the one that he was speaking to.-

"Just let go.. we aren't worth it. and you still have a long life to live."

-Dark understood what Michel meant by they have a long life to live..by he wasn't interested in killing anything young.-

"Michel lets go."
