What if you were given the chance to have your one deepest wish come true?

Would you take it?

- Tempting Dreams -

"I was walking through this great garden, down a little path toward the sound of running water. I found that it was a fountain of white marble. The water in it was sparkling, crystal clear, almost luminescent. It just kept on bubbling, falling, splashing, sparkling. I was suddenly incredibly thirsty, it was as if it were calling to me.
I put my hand in the water. It was cool and soft as it swirled around my fingers. I cupped my hands to drink, and as I lifted it to my lips, let it trickle down my throat, I began to drown in the fountain. The more I fought, the harder it became to break the surface. When I finally gave up, I could breathe, but suddenly found myself falling.
I screamed, but no sound came out. When I hit the bottom though, I opened my eyes to see this woman standing there, clothed all in silvery grey, and her long, flowing hair shone like the moon and stars.
Her eyes were clear crystal blue- Just like the water. As I looked into them, she spoke, but her lips did not move. "

~ "The one desire that you seek;
Your hearts desire you will find.
All that you must do is speak,
and see it clearly in your mind." ~

-"Then what happened?"

"Then I woke up."

An old man on his deathbed recounted the story to his grandson.
"I spent my whole life looking for this place. Legend tells that he who is haunted by the dream shall pass on the magic...
All I have left is this map, and Son, I pass it on to you."

"Your grandfather was delusional, and he was a drunk."
"But mum, what if he's right?"
Mother just rolled her eyes and sent the boy to bed, but the next day, with the encouragement of his little sister who had overheard the whole thing, he decided that he would fulfil his grandfather's last wish, and find the place from the old man's dreams.

The Land

North
Heavily wooded rainforest where strange creatures dwell. The rainforest extends to the east of the continent.

-Known Villages in this area-
Banoris - A small logging village on the southmost side of the rainforest. Nothing unusual here except for tales of rainforest beasts.
Tonnura - A village to the far north, if you make it through the rainforest. Not much is known about it.
Harin - Somewhere in the middle of the rainforest is a village of native people who's culture survives because the rainforest makes their home almost impossible to find. They are often thought of as savages, little is known of them.

East
Wetlands. This area was deforested long ago, leaving nothing but swamps and marshes due to the river that runs partially underground. Not much more than insects and things that eat insects live here.

Far East
Further east, you will find the coast. A place culturally rich and famous for it's fishing and sea trade. Lesser known of are the farms that are slightly inland and to the north, tucked away among the low, rolling hills where the soil is rich in nutrients, being closer to the rainforests.

-Known Villages in this area-
Sitlan - A fishing village by the ocean. Across the marshes is an uphill slope that goes on for a short time until you come to a cliff. (From here you will be able to see Sitlan) It is not difficult to find a way down in fair weather. Turn to the south and you will find that the slope runs downward just enough for the runoff from the marshes when it rains. Here, there is a natural path.
Hildan - A village of fishing and farming. It is tucked away between the low hills and its fields are full of orchards, vegetables and pasture.

South
Snow covered peaks and ridges, the bountiful trees become mere leafless sticks here where everything seems frozen. The mountaintops are dry and rocky, the valleys are mottled brown with leaf litter (so that's where all the leaves go!) and dark green with shrubbery and some trees that can withstand the wind.

-Known Villages in this area-
Grendich - Nicknamed "The mole people" because of how often they see the sun, and the fact that they are the major mining town of the land, Grendichians live in a shallow valley using several mountaintops for cover. They use reinforced mine shafts to get their food and water from the valley below, and though friendly, they are suspicious of outsiders. Who would want to come here anyway!?

West
To the west is mountains as far as the eye can see. Everything is a little drier. The river that runs toward the far east into the marshlands and out to sea begins somewhere here. The weather is usually hot and dry but it can be unpredictable with the occasional sudden thunderstorm from the north, or freezing winds from the south. Careful where you start a fire.

-Known Villages in this area-
Caulith - A popular village at the base of the mountain where the drink is good and the women are better... In the rumours at least.
Danziar - On the far side of the mountains. Usually unheard of.
More villages in between that are rich in commerce and trade.

The Characters

User Image
Name
Jenny

Played by
-V- is for VIVI

Age
13

Aim
To help and encourage her brother, at any cost. To keep him honest and watch over him even though usually it's the other way around. To find the fountain with a lady at the bottom that grants wishes, just to prove that Grandfather's story is true.

Hometown
Hildan

History
When Jenny was born, the family was complete. She had an older brother, a mother, a father and a grandfather. She thought that she had quite an ordinary life. Grandfather would go to the local tavern every couple of nights, come home smelling of rum and hops and fall asleep on the living room floor. Father worked from sunrise until the moon was high in the sky. Mother kept the house clean and tidy. This was Jenny's place. Every morning, mother would wake first and clean out the fireplace (which was also the oven in these times), including sweeping the chimney clean (for they were too poor to hire a chimneysweep or a maid). Jenny would wake to the smell of eggs and sausages on the fryer. Most days, father would have already left. She ate with her mother and brother until they had had enough (for there never seemed to be a shortage of food) and then she washed up with her mother while her brother went to school. Every morning, they always remembered to put some breakfast aside for Grandfather.

Those were the good old days. After father died, things began to go downhill. Grandfather decided he would go back to working in the fields to support the family. Mother took on a job as a maid for a rich family on the other side of the village. Jenny was also going to school by now, but it was also her duty to keep their home clean, as mother hardly had the time anymore. Life was like this for several years until Grandfather (who never passed up a chance to go drinking) also passed away.
Before Grandfather died, he asked to speak to Jenny's brother. Jenny knew this because Jenny knew everything. She hid behind the door as Grandfather spoke to her brother. He told him a story. Why wasn't he telling the story to Jenny? Jenny always believed his stories! It soon became clear that this particular story was special. That story was his last words. A year on, her brother asked Mother about it. Jenny was excited to see what Mother would say, but she only made Grandfather seem like a fool. Brother was disappointed, but that night Jenny told him not to give up. Mother doesn't understand. That was when Brother decided that the next day they would set out on their adventure.

Jenny is what you would call a strawberry-brunette. Her light brown hair has a red tinge in the sunlight. her eyes are big and brown with flecks of green, and she is quite slim. Your average skinny little girl. Dressed by her mother, she wears the style of the time. A cream coloured dress reaching below the knees, leggings and brown shoes (as they could not afford black polish) Beneath the dress was a modest blouse with a high collar and long sleeves to keep her warm.
During colder times, she wears a long, brown coat. When it is warmer, she is not required to wear the leggings or blouse underneath.
(Later she will wear more practical clothing- can't go on an adventure in a dress!)

Personality
Jenny is sweet and friendly, protective of her family and very talkative and social. She is resourceful, always active and quite intelligent. This, she knows. When away from parents, she follows her brother everywhere, wanting to do everything with him- whether he wants her to or not. Even if they fight or argue, she will stay with him until the very end.

Name
Niklas

Played by
Purified Ace

Age
17

Aim
To prove there's more to this life than what the family has become. To protect the only one he feels he has left, Jenny. To find the Fountain and prove his Grandfather wasn't as much of a fool as everyone says.

History
Their village, though they live a bit farther inland, is a coastal village. He spent a majority of his time down at the water, befriending the fishermen and sailors. This is where he learned to defend himself from a passing sailor. He had taught Nik about channeling energy through concentration, and had spoke of Chi. But all Nik was really interested in was the defense aspect.

Life was good. Life was great. He loved it. He even loved school. His grandfather would tell these stories that would excite the imagination...as if he had been there, taming lions, fighting indians, drinking with samurai, even wrestling polar bears... Everything seemed happy and just right for him. Then father died...

Things started getting bad...then worse. His grandfather's health got worse as he went back to work as well as continued drinking. The stories stopped. His mother seemed to just not care anymore. Sure, she put food on the table, but that's about it. It was when she forgot both her children's birthdays and even their age that he disowned her. Then grandfather took a turn for the worse...he called Nik in and told him a story...
His mother shrugs it off as if it were nothing...
"You weren't there...You didn't hear his voice like I did..."

With the encouragement from Jenny, who heard the story from her own point, he made up his mind...and began to save up and pack secretly...

Appearance
He is his father's son. He shares his father's mid length black hair. Even a similar slender muscular build adorns his frame...the reason his mother fell for his father. The only thing that really differs him from his father is his eyes...a deep shade of enchanting purple. Only one other person anyone in the village ever knew had eyes like that. Michael...Niklas and Jenny's grandfather.

He dresses like an islander. The tipical shorts and short sleeves. He almost always wears a bandana that the sailor who taught him gave him, tied with a talisman his grandfather gave him.
"This talisman was a gift to me from a maiden in Asia...she enchanted it to provide protection...now, I give it to you."

Personality
He had always been a rather happy person...till he became the man of the house. Now he's almost distant. He often says things that no one understands. The only person to see him happy anymore is Jenny.

He always believed his grandfather's stories had a hint of truth in them, even the wildest one about saving a Sultan's daughter...even if everyone said the man was nuts...

Mother had just left after cooking breakfast and eating some herself, leaving Jenny to wash up as agreed. When she and Niklas left, mother would be able to take that live-in job. Jenny was thinking as she washed. She left some breakfast aside for her brother and cleaned everything else.
"Better go wake him up." She said to herself and made her way to Niklas' room. "Niklas! Nik!!" She called. The lazy-bones was probably still sleeping, she grinned. Jenny crept into his room and leapt onto the bed.
"RAHR!" She yelled as she pounced.
"Wake up!"

Much to Jen's surprize, Nik would not be in his bed...just a pile of pillows. He had snuck out early to try and stock up on some more supplies before they leave...last minute preparations. Tonight was to be the night. When Mother wakes in the morning, there will be a note left on Jenny's bed (since she always woke Jenny up first.)

Jenny was shocked when she fell upon a bed completely full of pillows...
"Nik? ...Niklas!?" She called, looking around the room for him. She stood up and wandered through the house and then outside, blinking in the sunlight and calling her brother's name.
"Oh... Oh well." She said to herself, figuring he'd be back soon. He wouldn't miss breakfast, after all.
