Azima grinned as he slipped into the prideland boarders. He wanted to find Roho... he hadn't seen him in so long! And their last meeting (while it had gone well) hadn't gone well. Why was that big oaf so dense? Well this time it would be different! He hoped Roho would learn to like him...

All his time alone in his homelands he realized he had a huge crush on the huge dummy. And he hated it... but it also made him feel incredible. His father hadn't appreciated the news at all, he had actually avoided Azima. His mother hadn't been around so he couldn't really ask her for advice... he wasn't sure if he should tell any of his siblings, either.

And while he wasn't ready to become part of the pridelands he would... he would make Roho appreciate him if it killed him! He groaned just thinking about how much he wanted Roho to notice him. Big dummy.

Well the hard part would be finding the handsome, golden male.

Roho'wa Mamake, now an impressively full grown male, was actually easier to find than Azima had been expecting. The large and well-built male was enjoying yet another day of lazily strolling through the Pridelands, and had managed to end up wandering close to the border of the lands. Perhaps that was because he'd been thinking about Azima lately. Ever since his mane had fully grown through, actually. After all, now Azima could most definitely not call him 'baldy'. Besides, now that their earlier disputes had been settled and forgiven, Roho could think fondly of Azima as a friend. He would much prefer to think of someone else that way, rather than as someone he didn't like.

The golden male yawned as he walked through the grasses, not having anything planned today, other than keeping an idle lookout for something to make the day seem more interesting. Though, it was tempting just to find somewhere shady and nap. Boredom often made him feel incredibly lazy.

And that is when Azima spotted him. Fully grown! So delicious.. he gasped at the sight of little baldy... not so little and not bald at all... his mane was beautiful! He grinned suddenly and took a moment to stand and watch Roho, wondering what he was up to. Maybe he should just follow Roho for a while, see who he knew and all that..

Azima coughed and realized how messed up that would be. Instead he started toward the male again. "Roho! Roho~" He called out, finding it difficult to contain his giggles of mirth. Oh... he hesitated. But his mane was not so full and he certainly wasn't as large as Roho... actually, he didn't think he'd ever be as big as Roho. He was sleek and thin, but muscular. He had his mother's build.

Well that didn't metter. He had something to do! "Found you!" he said as he was close enough to suddenly pounce the other, not caring how Roho would react to his childish behavior.

As he heard his name being called, the gold and cream male paused his stride, turning his head to look over his shoulder. What he saw made him laugh. Speak of the devil - or rather, think - and he shall appear. With his tail flicking behind him, Roho turned his body to face Azima, tilting his head slightly with an open, friendly smile. "Azima! What are-?"

The rest of his sentence was cut off as Azima pounced him, tumbling the both of them to the ground, with Roho underneath his bright red attacker. "Found me? I didn't know you were looking for me." Roho attempted to wiggle his way out from underneath Azima, but since he had always been a large male, with the strength that came with it, he automatically wriggled gingerly, to avoid accidentally hurting the other, something he'd done since longer than he could remember.

Oh but he just wanted to lay on top of the big dunder head! He was so warm and cuddly and... "Of course I was looking for you. Who in their right mind wouldn't look at you?" Of course looking at and looking for were two different things. He gave the other a cheeky grin, still not removing himself. Roho would have to push him off it seemed.

"My what big hair you have." He said, teasing. "Guess you aren't as bald as I remember."

Pausing in his wriggling for a few moments, Roho turned his head to look at Azima quizically. "A lot of people, I guess. I just blend right in; I'm not noticeable like you. Everyone notices your colour, I expect." Of course, Roho was still dense enough about how he had bewitched Azima to not get what the other male was really getting at. He thought it was simply a matter of standing out - or not, as the case was with his fur. Standard colour for the lands he lived in, and he blended in perfectly with the grass in the Pridelands.

With a few grunts and the like, Roho finally managed to get out from underneath Azima, padding a few steps away and then shaking himself off, from his head to the tip of his tail, turning after to flash Azima a handsome grin. "Oh, I know. Now it looks like you're the one closer to being bald."

Azima blinked and huffed. Roho was a dope! Couldn't he tell he was complimenting him on how handsome he was? Fine! If he had to be blunt then he would... he could come flat out and say what he thought of Roho!

But then Roho said his next comment... which was a big mistake. Azima's mouth hung open, stuck that way because he was about to tell Roho what he meant. His eyes narrowed and his mouth twisted. "Bald? Me?" Oh how upset he looked! Oh what a jerk Roho was! That wasn't even a good thing to tease someone about... oh! Well... perhaps he shouldn't have teased Roho about it in the past... but when they were cubs Roho was bald! He hadn't had any mane what so ever. "I... you... that was uncalled for." He pouted.

But that grin! Azima's face slowly returned to something of a more normal, non-offended expression. "Especially after I was paying you such a nice compliment." He stated slowly. "You're so dense... I was implying you were handsome, not really commenting on how many friggen looks you get.." He muttered, looking away from Roho and staring moodily at the dirt.

What a drama queen.

Roho faltered just a little bit as Azima looked so upset. He hadn't wanted to really insult the other male; he just wanted it to be a friendly little jab, pretend payback for calling Roho the same so long ago. But as Azima's expression changed into a pout, Roho had to assume the insult couldn't be all that bad. "Not really," he murmured, because in his mind, Azima had deserved that a little bit.

But then Roho blinked, what remained of his smile falling off his face as it went a little blank. Handsome? Him? Well, that was certainly something he hadn't heard before, and it left him a little bit off-balance. Pulling another smile back onto his face, this one more embarrassed than the last, he shrugged his shoulders slowly and glanced away. "Uh... well... thanks, I guess. You're, uh... you are, too." He didn't really think that way, and it was fairly obvious from his tone, but he felt he should at least return the compliment... in some way. It was only polite.

Azima blinked and stared at the dirt, pissed. Why had this gone so poorly? His ears flicked when Roho 'complimented' him but he heard the falter and was already in a bad mood so something like that did not help. His tail was whipping back and forth sporadically and his eyes were narrowing. Utto... was he about to throw a tantrum?

"Of course I am." He spat and then stood, starting to move away. He didn't know how to deal with awkward situations so he'd just leave! And Roho was so stupid... Azima was beautiful. In his mind. Anyways. He wasn't exactly handsome but still. Last time I pay anyone a compliment He thought bitterly and glanced back at Roho, because he did like looking at Roho. A lot. Even when he was feeling this pissed.

Roho'wa stared after Azima completely helplessly. How had their meeting gone so sour so quickly? Had his playful little tease really offended Azima that much? Of course, poor Roho didn't get that that wasn't the larger part of the reason Azima was now so apparently angry with him. He had thought the 'bald' comment to be a little joke, nothing more; now he wished he'd never said it at all, because he believed that was what had upset Azima. He didn't want his friend mad at him.

He slunk after Azima with his ears flattened into the creamy fur of his mane. He waited until he was beside the smaller male before speaking. "Azima?" he murmured to the red male, though didn't dare look at him. "What did I do? I'm sorry..." And he was, very much so. He hated that Azima might be upset with him.

Oh this wasn't fair! His ears flicked back and then went up again. Well he should be sorry! Azima wasn't honestly sure why he was so mad but... well. He had always been a very touchy little brat. But it was quite obvious Roho had no romantic feelings for him what so ever, and Azima did. Well... at least that is what he thought they were. Right? His tail flicked and he let Roho stew in the silence for a bit, calming himself down as he thought of how to reply.

"I don't know." He finally admitted because he really didn't know what Roho did that was so wrong... except that he was acting friendly instead of adoring and amazed that such an amazing lion as himself would compliment the big oaf! "It's alright." He finally muttered, dully. "I shouldn't explode like that." He rolled his eyes though. He couldn't help it, when he didn't get what he wanted or things weren't going his way...

Maybe he shouldn't be so blunt? No... Roho never got it when he was subtle. Or maybe he definitely only liked girls. The one time he ever mentioned to his father about a boy he'd kind of... well freaked out a little. He wasn't able to check with his mother or not to see if it was normal and wasn't about to go ask Damu about his sexual preference. I mean... Azima knew it was supposed to be male + female = reproduce. family. yay. But he didn't like cubs all that much and well... he felt how he felt!

A slow, wicked grin came to his face as he suddenly bopped Roho in the shoulder with a paw. "It's cause I like you." He said, very boldly. Roho would... probably take that as a friend though. "Why... I'm so moody, that is."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 7:31 am

Though Azima said it was all right, Roho sensed that it wasn't. Something was definitely bothering his friend, but he didn't know what. And what made it worse was that it was obviously something he'd done. He was definitely a people-pleaser, and he couldn't stand the thought of Azima being angry with him. But he had absolutely no idea how he was going to resolve the situation and make things casual and easy between them once more.

With his ears still flattened against his head, he managed the weakest of smiles when Azima batted at his shoulder. "I like you, too," he mumbled in response, though it was quite clear he, at least, meant this as a friend. "But that seems to make you mad." It wasn't that Roho was against the way Azima felt; it was more that he never thought of those kinds of feelings at all. He'd never met a female he would have considered in that fashion, but nor had he a male, either. To put it simply, Roho was in the dark about his true sexuality. He just... assumed he was normal and like the vast majority of males everywhere.

He was careful to watch Roho when he responded and sighed just slightly when the reply came. Yup, he just wasn't getting it, was he? His ears flicked back and he felt guilty for maybe a minute. Him always getting made seemed to upset Roho a lot.

"That's because you like me. And I like-like you." He said slowly and stared forward. Oh he was going to have to full on explain this, wasn't he? "Do you have a sweetheart?" But avoiding explaining it was better! Maybe Roho could come to the conclusion by himself? "Y'know like... a female you're really close to. Not in love with, but almost there." He still wouldn't look at the larger lion as he asked this, he was simply thinking about home and how things worked there and how he prayed that Roho's life wasn't the same way. That Roho was simular to Azima in taste, or sexual preference anyhow.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 8:30 am

Sadly, and depressingly, this didn't seem to be getting any clearer for Roho. He blinked his big brown eyes as he tried to muddle out the difference between 'like' and 'like-like'. Double friendship, perhaps? He'd never heard the term before, and he associated the word 'love' with what Azima was getting at. At his age, in his prime, he should have already given this entire subject a great deal of thought and consideration, and having done such, he should have been able to discern Azima's meaning. Unfortunately, it just hadn't occured to him that he should be letting his thoughts wander that way.

At the mention of a sweetheart, though, his nose wrinkled ever so slightly. The only girls he was close to, really close, were his sisters, but he was smart enough, at least, to figure out that was most definitely not what Azima meant. He shook his head, strands of his creamy mane waving around his face. "No, no one like that." Female friends and acquaintances didn't really come under the title 'sweetheart'; he recognised that as a term of endearment, at the very least, even if he still didn't see the bigger picture behind Azima's questions.

Ah, well he didn't have a sweetheart and that was good and still left Azima a chance to become Roho's sweetheart. Actually sweetheart was kind of a girly term.. oh well! His tail flicked and he snorted, trying to think of what to say next.

"And your mom and dad, what do you think of them? Oh their... being together and having a family and stuff?" Man he was not good at getting his point across when it came to breaking things down, was he? "I mean... do you even want a family with a lioness?" At least he knew to talk about family with Roho, it was important to the big doofus. If he was talking to someone more like himself... family wouldn't even come up.
