Curled up beneath a rather large willow tree, Ardhi stared at his paws as he shifted them into the soil, watching as the white became rather brown under the dirt. He let out a sigh, shoulders hunching as he closed his copper eyes, his gaze shifting to the pond in front of him. In silence, he slid forward to drink, fatigue finally catching up.

Amadet was in a surprisingly good mood. After the run in with the maned wolf while she was hunting, she had gotten something decent to eat and had managed to be a bit more successful in her own hunting endeavours thanks to that extra bit of energy. No more injuries, no more being hungry, this were just going well and it had put the lioness in a good mood.

Passing near the tree and water hole, Amadet saw the stranger laying there and normally would now have paid him any attention- except when he slithered forward to get a drink and a familiar mark was waved right before her eyes. It'd been so long since Amadet saw anyone from her pride, she was startled into a complete halt. Immediately, she felt anger rise in her as he resentmet to the pride was renewed, and then she realized he didn't look like he was doing too well himself (though that may have been wishful thinking) and decided it might be entertaining to go and talk to him.

"Well," she said arrogantly as she approached, "I never thought I'd see another one again."

"... another one?" He echoed, his muscles tensing though he continued to drink, eyes opening to watch her out of the corners of his eyes warily. "I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about..."

Amadet watched him very carefully, and once she was close she realized how young he looked. Though she herself would not be considered old, he almost didn't look old enough to have much memory or knowledge of what happened in the pride, seeing as he would likely have been a young cub then, if born at all. On the other hand, perhaps with the pride members scattered, he was the son of one.

The a realization struck her. The pride had brown as a common color, certainly, but this particular lion seemed to be the exact same color as her- and reminded her a particular lion she had been refusing to think of for the last long time. Her father.

"Who are your parents?" she demanded suddenly, narrowing her golden orange eyes.

Ardhi gave a lazy smirk, cool eyes turning to regard her with a kind of listless fashion. "Why is it of any matter to you? One doesn't just go up and ask about family relations, unless you're looking for something more." He snorted, taking a step back and curling his tail around his toes. "Which you've probably mistaken me for someone else, since I have no interest in you." His ears folded back as he gave the other a lazy grin, showing all of his teeth as his copper eyes shone.

Amadet continued to glare at him, wondering if he could be a young uncle, cousin, brother- and when Ardhi curled his tail she saw in him a glimpse of someone else she'd been forcing out of her memory. Generally the pride was ignored, but most especially she did her best to completely forget her parents and sister. The arrogance was enough to convince her that she'd found someone directly related to her, if only because of her low opinion of her immediate family.

She stifled a hiss at his refusing to tell her.

"You don't know? Don't see it?" she asked with a cold laugh. Perhaps he wasn't so related, if he was connected to Amoret somehow then surely he might recognize her. Then again, no one else in the Pride saw how similar she and her sister were.

"That feather on your side," Amadet said pointedly, looking right at it, "Family marking? From your mother, maybe? Or perhaps a father?" She was not willing to commit to the idea of him being Amoret's son, but right now that seem the most logical.

"I honestly don't know, lioness." Ardhi gave another wry grin. "Though more often than not I've been recognized for things I have no recollection of." He gave a shrug and thumped his tail on the ground, snorting. "You really have no business prying around in a stranger's business, though you strike me as the type to stick your nose where it doesn't belong. Mmm?"

Amadet gave him a critical stare, looking him from head to toe. She barely managed to stifle a snort of laughter when he said he didn't know, and might have no recollection of what he's recognized for. Her sister, the oh-so-special princess- of course she'd have a son and then go off without allowing him any idea of who she was.

"Well, Amoret does have a notorious reputation for abandoning those that depend on her," she said bitterly, but not without her own bit of amusement at the idea. It seemed that if Ardhi was who she suspected, she had even more proof as to how bad a queen Amoret would have been, and how Amadet herself should not have been so overlooked. "I have business prying where my family is concerned, and just the arrogant tone of voice and fact you dont' know your parents convinces me you're family."

"Whatever you say..." Came his monotone reply as he turned and walked away, his back to her rather carelessly. Ardhi's muscles remained tensed, however, and he took his time to walk slowly, taking in the scents around him, as well as her scent in particular. He'd make sure to avoid her in the near future, or possibly far future, unless fate wanted to punish him for something he'd done in the past.

Though he had no idea what he would have done to earn fate's ire.

Amadet watched Ardhi, her eyes sparkling in her great amusement- for some reason she found the stranger to be much more entertaining than irritating, quite opposite what her initial reaction had been. Oh, Amoret was a failure as an heir and a mother, and Amadet took joy from knowing that.

"It's sad that you'd be content being so much like her," she commented with a cluck of her tongue as he went to walk off. So much like Amoret without even knowing her! It was almost sad enough for him to earn her pity.

"Too bad," she mumbled as though she too were going to go off, but she continued to watch him, "Too bad."

"Sorry, but I don't regret." His paws curled into the ground, mane flowing as a breeze came by, his ears folding back to better enjoy it. He bit at the air before his muscles hunched, getting ready to bound off across the field in some other direction. This one talked as if she knew him, and it was really getting on his nerves; he hadn't been around anyone, and was always avoidant... for reasons exactly like the one he'd just been through.

"Don't regret at all..." He whispered to himself. "Have better things to do."

Amadet watched him, her amusement slowly declining with the situation. Instead of going in the direction of becoming furious again, she found herself a little more indifferent. It seemed if he was so much like this, perhaps the pride was better off.

"That makes two generations unsuited for the throne," she commented aloud, if the pride hadn't failed under the potential of Amoret taking over, could it have lasted through two rulers of such similar attitude? Probably not, in fact- almost surely not. It had been weakening before Amoret left, but that was something Amadet always felt she could have helped to fix. Damn the gods for what they did.. surely they wouldn't have let it happen if they really cared.

With that, she turned around and was ready to go off again herself.
