The sun was making its way across the sky, giving Kibaraka only a limited time to lap up the last of it's rays. He lay, belly up and exposed, sunbaking on a random rock that jutted out of the earth, enjoying the sensation of warmth the rock's surface brushed upon his back.

Kibaraka wasn't worried about predators snatching him away. All he cared about was catching more rays.

"This is so relaxing," he sighed, fur tingling with contentment, "I wouldn't get up for anything. Not anything in the whooooole world."

User ImageA small, dark colored fawn stumbled over his feet. He mumbled something in spite of himself and stared down at his feet to watch if he's trip over rocks or anything of the sort.

And yet, looking at his feet can cause certain... misfortunes. Such as running into things. The small fawn queaked as he fell backwards from bumping his small, but growing, horns.

He gave a pitiful groan and pouted on the spot, mentally he cried, but outwardly decided not to show it.

"Bah!" He whines and pushed himself away from the rock, that was barely taller then himself, with a hoof.

"Mean rock..." he muttered and looked up at it, squinting from the sun, which so happened to be right in his line of vision. Today was not his day.

He just wanted his Mommy!

Yes, yes, nothing in the whole world could indeed move Kibaraka off.

Well, perhaps there was something that could. A baby klipspringer, for example. In an instant, the youngster had blocked out Kibaraka's sun, and before the hare had time to politely ask the animal to move over, the creature had stumbled forward and flung both the rock and Kibaraka forwards.

The hare swore as he tumbled into the dust, and picked himself up with a cough.

"Damn, are you blind or something?" he spluttered, spitting out dirt and forgetting his manners for a moment in sheer rage, "You almost killed me with those... those paws of yours."

He looked up, and his eyes locked with a pair of steely greys. Wow, this animal was different. Little horns sprouting from his forehead, and paws made of what had felt like diamond...

"Are you a demon?" he asked, genuinely concerned and just that little bit irritated.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:52 pm

The small klipspringers eyes went wide. Almost as lardge as the rock itself. "Oh nonononono!" The small confused fawn shook his head wildly. Which helped his make him ever more dizzy than he already was.

Which lead to him tumbling over. "Ow." He whined, pushing himself up with his so called 'paws'.

"Mummy said demons are bad!" He said, eyes still wide with innocence and fear. After a pause, he blinked. "I think..."

"Tilting his head to the slightlest, he askled a questions. "What's blind? He questions, letting himself pull closer to the grey hare.

Kibaraka sighed, his heart softening a little. After all, the youngster seemed to not have kicked him over on purpose, and he would just make himself feel more irritated if he held a grudge.

"Hey, don't worry about it," he sighed, mouth creasing into a smile, "I mean, I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Just look out next time, alright?"

He wondered how old the creature was. Not very, it seemed... the little one didn't look like he'd seen much time on the earth - there were hardly any scars or wounds on the preybeast's body, and the boy's child-like tone suggested that he had a long way to go before adulthood. Still, he seemed old enough to offer Kibaraka a conversation, and now that the sun was gone, the hare did need something to entertain him.

"That's right, demons are bad. Well, at least the majority of them. Personally, me? I've had no experience with them. The demons and devils of Africa," he paused, chewing his lip thoughtfully, "Has your mother told you much about them? Is your mother a devil, may I ask? What are you?"

He honestly had no idea. This child could be an evil spirit, for all he knew. Spirits, he had heard, had a knack of disguising themselves. Seeing the stranger edge closer, he backed off a little bit. Sure, Kibaraka could fight predators, but demons were another thing altogether.

"You say you don't know about blindess, huh?" he asked, "Well, you see.. a person is blind when they... well, cannot see. I've heard it's just black. Complete and utter darkness. But what they make up for in sight, they hone their other senses to be better than ever."

Kucha nodded his head vigorously, making his head spin again. He didn't fall this time, but the vigourousness left his nizzy for a few seconds. "I will!" He grinned.

"No, not much at all," he shook his head again, but softer, seeming to learn his leason on not trying to shake loose his brain. He wanted to ask so many question. This... furry thing! Used a lot of big words.

"What is Madg-or-ety?" he questioned.

Bit his eyes went wide. "Mama's not a debil!" He cried out. "She's nice!. Me an' Mama are Klippy Springies~" He commented happily.

"Blind-knees seems scary, though!" He didn't know what he would do if here were blind and clumsy! He'd probably have to be littereally tired to his mother to get around.

He knew that. quite litterally. he knew he was clumsy, he just didn't want to admit it.

Being side tracked the shadow colored fawn just reverted back to his topic. "But Mama's not a debil!" He was, agape, wondering how anyone could say such a thing about his beloved Mum!

"Ha, seems to me that there's quite a bit you don't know," the hare chuckled, shrugging off his irritation from moments ago and ambling over on his hind legs, convinced now that Kucha was not some kind of demon, "You're a little one, aren't you? Still a kitten? Ha, I was a kitten once. Those were interesting days."

He grinned, and plodded closer, gently reaching up and putting a paw on the klipspringer's nose.

"The name is Kibaraka. A hare, and a fluffy one at that. Pretty clear-minded, as hares go. That's me," he took his paw off, and instead offered the little paw in a friendly handshake, "And you are? Please, shake my paw. It's what gentlemen do... you are a young boy, aren't you? And, well, actually, I suppose you might have a little trouble... what with this feet of yours. How peculiar. Hooves, like antelopes. Yet you're not an antelope. Strange, strange."

He looked up, eyes gleaming with curiousity.

"Forgive me, but I've always thought of the hoofed type as all being the same. Seeing you, slightly different... well, I thought that maybe a devil was making a cheap imitation of a preybeast. Thing is, I didn't realise that you are your own species. Well, then, that's news for me. Have you ever met a hare before, then?"

He paused, and then took a different approach.

"Have you ever met a devil? How can you be sure you aren't one?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 22, 2007 11:44 pm

Kucha put his hoof out to touch the hare's paw. "Mum calls me Kucha," He said with a big smile.

"A hare? No. I've never met anyone before," He commented, referring to him previously glued to his mother's side. "But, I'm not an Anty Loop thing, Mama says."

Kucha frowned slightly. "No. I haven't met a debil before..." He paused. "But Mama says I'm a klippy springy, and mama's not a debil!" He whined in protest to the hare's antics.

Cause Mama says. His reason for anything.

"Kucha!" Kibaraka repeated, shaking Kucha's outstretched hoof gently, "Nice to meet you, Kucha. As far as devils go, you're a polite one."

And he smiled at that, meaning exactly what he had said.

"A klip... springer, huh? That's what you are, are you? Well, that's interesting. I'm kind of not in the know about these kinds of things - blame that on my parents for not teaching me. The blasted things just up and disappeared one day, bless their souls!" he didn't blink an eye, talking smoothly as if he had full-acceptance that his parents had gone, "Though you, on the other hand, have a Mama, am I right? You speak highly of her."

He grinned, and sat down with a 'plonk' beside Kucha, resting his chin on a forepaw.

"Your mother sounds quite special to you, huh? She a pretty lass, this Mama o' yours?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2007 12:25 am

"Mhm! Mama's the special-est person in the entire world~" He said, proud to have a mother such as his.

Kucha watched the hare, ears flicking. He gave a firm mod, obviously not enough to make himself dizzy. "Mama's really pretty," he confirmed.

"That's good to know, kid," Kibaraka's eyes softened, and he chuckled, "You keep that with you, won't you?"

He looked up at the sky, watching the clouds roll over the savannah. A blanket of darkness seemed to be sweeping the land, now... the usual night-bugs were started to chirp, and twilight seemed to be drawing near.

"Wow, it's getting kind of dark. Are you sure that you should be out this late, ki-" he began, but a distinct rustling sound nearby made the hare stop in his tracks, flattening down his ears, "Lay low. Something's out there."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2007 1:20 am

Kucha's ears perked, ignoring the hare's wise words as he heard something. A voice. "-cha. Kucha!"

"Mama?" The small klipspringer. Mkimya's head swivled in the direction of her son and she bounded towards him.

"Kucha, I was worried!" He said with a tone of relief. "Come on now."

Kucha pushed himself from the ground and nuzzled his Mama. "Bye Mr. Kibaraka," He said to the hare, going ahead of his mum, starting for the high grasses.

Mkimya looked down at the hare. "Kibaraka?" She questioned the hare lightly.

"That's me," the hare remarked, beaming proudly, elated by the fact that a stranger knew his name, "Sir Kibaraka, now, I suppose you could call me. Wow, I never quite knew that I was this famous. I mean, I knew I left strong impressions on people, but- "

The hare's eyes finally registered Mkimya's face - those vibrant yellow eyes, a nose splashed in purple, the grey pelt that looked so utterly familiar. For a moment, he could not put a place on it, and just stood there on his hind legs, looking at Mkimya with a questioning glance. Then, it dawned on him.

"You!" he spluttered, grinning as madly as a hatter, "You... you're that... well, you know... you're... Mkimya!"

And he shot her a look of pure admiration.

"By golly, have you sprouted up, missy! You're a lady now. I have to say, Kucha, your mother sure is a pretty lady. Especially now that she's shot up. Although, why don't you have... you know, horns? Ha, even after all these years, there are still so many things that I don't understand about you... you... Springklippers."

Kucha nodded poudly and smiled as he heard his mother chuckle. The dtark grey kliprpringer beamed. "You flatter me, Kibaraka," She smiled at the hare.

She breifly glanced up. "Female klipspringers don't have horns, Kiba," She smiled and took a quick second to nuzzle the top of her son's head between his horns.

"Despite," She commented. "You've grown as well. You were just a kitten when I met you," The female smiled at the hare.

Mkimya nuzzled her son's head as he flopped between her legs and pressed against her chest. She acknowledged him with a small lick to the head and turned back to Kibaraka.

"They don't?" the hare squinted a little, and then grinned, "Ha, you're always teaching me new things, you are, Mkimya. And this little badger is yours, is he?"

He gave Kucha a fond nod, and his grin widened.

"I've grown too, yes. Had no time for kits, though, unfortunately, but that's the way the world works. I'll find my time, someday, I suppose. So, who's the lucky male that caught your fancy?"
