User ImageOh he was getting so frustrated with is job. Those old wrinkly people thinking they could outsmart him, the young kids being complete idiots, coming up with ideas to launch themselves from things. No deaths were interesting anymore. There weren't any intersting souls to collect. What had happened to the good old days? Back when war was always aroun the corner, and killers came up with such interesting ways to kill their victems. They certainly seemed to be gone now.

He loved the stentch of death, the look of blood, all that stuff made him feel at home, yet the only souls he seemed to be collecting where those of idiots and oldies. Darn old farts, they were all the same. And like he wanted to spend his days cleaning up the mess those idiot teenagers made of themselves.

Needless to say, his job had become boring. Routine.

Smoke rose from Death's eyes, or rather the holes of where his eyes would be, if he were mortal. Living. His pipe was clentched tightly in his boney jaws, the smoke completly covering the two glowing blue orbs that floated within the two large holes in his head. It was a stupid boring day, as it always was. Though he woldn't complain...much. At least Mandy wasn't there, or that idiot Billy. At least he was alone to sulk by himself. To sit and wallow, as he smoked his pipe. Completly undisturbed.

Yeah. His life sucked.

The skeleton's three boney tails cracked and snaped as they slitered along the handle of his scythe, tightly gripping the Reaper's tool. His furry, fleshy ears swiveling back and forth, attempting to throw any maggots upon them off and into the awaiting dirt floor.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Well, to Xanul, it was a happy day. As always, to the little kit. He was alone, away from his family and out exploring. Yes, on another adventure! He felt a little guilty about leaving Swax and Xelon behind, but this was his own adventure. He was sure they would understand. Brushing away this guilt, Xanul looked about for something interesting.

Oho! There was smoke over there! Where was it coming from? His tails flicked in excitement as he followed the smoke. And then he stopped as he saw the other kitsusagi. Well...Xanul had never seen anyone like Grim before. Skeleton tails? The kit blinked interestedly and brightened up as he noticed the black coat the other was wearing.

"Hellooo!" Xanul chirped, deciding to introduce himself. "Do you know my daddy? He wears a black coat too..."Then pausing to examine the coat, he frowned. "Though yours looks a bit different."

Rings of smoke soon started to rise from the nostrils of the immortal, as well as creep from the corners of his skeletal jaws. He'd have chosen to quit the Reaper job, had it no conciquenses, but he knew oh too well what doing such a thing would entail.

It wouldn't be pretty.

His slightly maggoty ears rotated back, as though they were a door on loose hinges, ready to drop off at any moment. Maggots did terrible things for his decaying ears. The only bit of flesh and fur he had left on him, and there they were chewing it away. Not to mention the feel of the little chubby things. He knew exactly how a rotting corpse felt. Not plesant, not plesant at all.

A single tail left the handle of his scythe and slowly made its way to the Reaper's maw, coiling around his pipe so that he could take it from his clentched jaws. Smoke trailed high into the sky, as brows lowered upon the living skeleton's skull. A kid. He really had started to dislike those little things....Ok well maybe not all kids, but all the little annoying ones. Those were usually the idiots or the ones that were hard to scare...And of course they were annoying as Hell.

And he knew Hell. He knew the place well.

"Hello." came Death's reply, his eerie voice floating though the air. "First of all kid, I don't know who you are. I couldn't tell you if I knew your father or not." his vocie seemed much like sloshing grime, this day, somewhat like a creepy marsh...If one could describe a voice that way.

A frown formed upon the skeleton's face. "I don't wear a coat. It's called a robe, or a cloak. Whichever you prefer."

Xanul's ears perked up at the sight of the kitsusagi's face. It was interesting...he seemed to be...skeletony? Xanul wasn't afraid, he was more awed if anything else. Nothing seemed to really scare him. No, not even the maggoty ears. Xanul thought it was rather...well...cute.

He had a weird perspective, really.

"Well, my name is Xanul!" The kit chirped happily. "My daddy is Saix, he's part of Organisation XIII and he's a Nobody." Whatever that meant. Xanul didn't understand what a Nobody was; Saix hadn't bothered to explain it to him, but Xanul thought it sounded cool. "Weeell, I thought you knew my daddy. Cause the others in the Organisation also wear that." Then he tilted his head to stare at the cloak further and nodded slowly. "Mmm, it does look different. Hey, what's your name?"

Grim felt somewhat sickened at how cheery the young kit was. Perhaps it was just the mood he was in that was causing the young kids happyness to make him feel rather...Unplesant. He couldn't be sure, not that he wanted to know, either way. His somewhat furry ears shifted back, pressing against the back of his dark as night hood.

Glowing blue orbs hovered barly moving in the Reaper's eye sockets, as he looked the kid up and down. Something about an Organisation and Nobodys. He really did not care to listen and turned out most of what the little kit was saying. Years of living with Billy did make the rest of life a bit easier to handle. "Yes. Yes. Whatever." the skeleton spoke, smoke rising from his pipe as he took a quick puff.

"I haven't the slightest idea who he is." the male (...skeletons can have genders right?) finally responded, letting the kid know he did not know his father. Grim sneered, his teeth seemed almost as though they were grinding together. "Kids these days..." he grunted.

"You don't know who I am?" the Reaper questioned, though it seemed to be quite ovious that the kid didn't know. What were they teaching kids these days? Sure Death knew that not everyone in the world knew about him, but most did. Most used to fear him...Back in good days of life. Before he met Billy and Mandy....Ok well people still feared him after he met the two brats from Hell. But the world had really changed. He caused less fear. Darn television.

"I have many names." he grined, a quite creepy one at that. "The Grim Reaper, or Death are the most common amongst them. I collect people when it is their time to die." Terrible job. Terrible, terrible, and no longer interesting job!

Xanul rather liked talking. In fact, he would have been happy if he was allowed to prattle on and on, especially if he was in the mood. The topic? It was usually about his father; Xanul thought Saix was awesome and cool. Even though he didn't know much about him. He would have to bug him for more information next time.

"Oh? You should meet him!" The kit responded cheerily. "You two will get along well for sure!" Perhaps they would, for to Xanul, they seemed both a little grumpy. But Xanul liked his father that way. In fact, he thought it was cute. Yes. Saix was very pissed by this son of his.

"So..." The kit tilted his head to a side, thinking. "Uncle Grim?" Since this kitsu was older than him, well much MUCH older, Xanul always took it as a respectful thing to call adult kitsusagis Uncle or Aunt. "You're Death? Really? COOL!"

The Reaper sneered, placing the tip of his pipe back in his toothy jaws. Smoke slowly rose from the skeleton's nostrils as he inhaled then exhaled. He didn't even bother answer when Xanul had mentioned that he should meet his father. Really, that was one of the last things on his list, to meet some random kids parent. He really did not have time for things like that, not to mention he really didn't care for meating another. Especially when a little kid mentions getting along. When a kid says that, you run, and you run fast. He'd learnt that lesson many times though his past. When a kid ever mentioned him getting along with someone else it was very often false.

Well when the kid happened to be a few fries short of a happy meal, anyways. Oh and how it seemed that he always ended up running into kids like that.

This Xanul however...The Reaper couldn't quite figure if the kid was a bit off his rocker, or simply far too hyper for his own good.

His nose wrinkled (as best a skeleton can manage, anyways) as he was called 'Uncle Grim'. Uncle? His tails craked as they moved, slowly creeping along his scythe. He'd let it slide for now. He wasn't really in the mood to correct the kid. Or rather, tell the kid not to call him that.

"Of course it's cool." he soon uttered, smoke wisping from his mouth. "Though it is not an easy job." a tiny rumble passed his throat, as he took the pipe from the corner of his maw. "Sadly you get no more respect these days. -Nobody wants to die. Mortals always fighting what they can't control." A sour look formed upon the male's features, as his hood rolled down ever so slightly upon his head, the shadow it casted conceling all but the two glowing blue orbs and the tip of his muzzle. "Way back when, people used to be terrifed of me. But not anymore. They all think they can cheat Death. All thanks to those blasted televisions." Seriously...Did all Grim ever do, was complain? It seemed so....

Wow. He felt really old using the term 'way back when'.

Xanul grinned and sat down in front of Grim on his haunches, his dark hair flopping slightly in the wind. Well, it wasn't as if Saix would want to meet someone, especially if Xanul wanted him to. He would probably be too annoyed by Xanul to even let himself be dragged along by the little kit.

Xanul was simply a VERY energetic kit. He seemed to have boundless energy, and only needed a few hours of sleep, waking up before his family did. Ayako simply couldn't figure out why, or how he could manage it.

"Death is a job?" Xanul's nose crinkled slightly. He wasn't exactly sure of this 'Death' really, though wasn't it Uncle Grim's name? Besides, nobody he knew died. "People used to be scared of you? And television?" He was getting confused. All he knew was getting information from books.

Death's ears rolled forward, a single maggot plumiting to its doom. "Yes, it's a job." the Reaper grunted. "The world would be thrust into chaos if people didn't die." he pased, placing his pipe back into his mouth. "Imagine people being killed without dying. Disgusting." The grip that his tails had upon his sycthe tightened. If he didn't do his job the world would be crazier then it already was. And that was saying a lot.

Even if he did currently hate his job.

A frown formed upon the Reaper's face, "Of course people used to be scared of me." Why wouldn't they be? He was a walking skeleton. He was Death! "Some still are infact. Though because of movies and television shows a lot of the younger kids think I'm some kind of joke! Or some old guy in a costume. My bones don't look fake!"

Xanul winced. Eww, well, that certainly sounded disgusting. Being killed without dying? Then what would they be? Nobodies? "It sounds like Avada Kedavra." He whispered, his ears flattening down, remembering what Ayako had told them about the Unforgivable Curses. Then he frowned. "No, that spell just kills people. Like the Dementors, probably." Sucking your soul out yet leaving behind an empty shell? That seemed to fit the description of what Grim had just said.

"Your bones are cool!" Xanul's ears perked up again, dark tails waggling happily. They certainly looked real enough to him.

The Reaper arched a brow as he looked to the kit. What had he just said? He hadn't quite heard the words little Xanul had spoken, though the skeleton shruged it off it probably wasn't important anyways. And if it was the Reaper would porbaby not even be concerned about it. After all, it was probably just a mortal thing.

Grim blinked as the kit mentioned Dementors. Dementors? As in those big cloaked veiny--scabby guys that sucked out people's souls. Those guys weren't so bad in his books, though they did every now and then make his job harder, though sometimes it made things easier...And well he did live with one. "What spell now?" he asked, ears flicking. He'd leave out the fact that he knew a Dementor, it wasn't that important anyways.

"Well, thank you." the skeleton spoke, at the compliment on his skeletal self.

Well, it was more of a magic thing. Wizards, witches, spells, potions. Xanul's grandfather was, after all, Remus Lupin, the Defense Against Dark Arts teacher in Hogwarts, a magical school. That was what Ayako had mentioned anyway. The kit hadn't mastered the use of his wand yet, though he did know some simple spells.

"Avada Kedavra." Xanul said a bit loudly, then covered his mouth with his paws with an embarrassed smile. "It's a killing curse."

Both brows seemed to arch as the kit uttered two words before quickly covering his mouth. A killing curse? Yes, the Reaper was pretty sure he had heard of such a thing before, not that he had known the words to it however. No real need to know such a thing when he was the Grim Reaper, something like that would probably take too much time to cast as well.

"Mortals and their killing." he grunted, finally putting out his pipe. He'd smoke more later. "Of course if it weren't for that habit you mortals have with killing each other, I'd be out of the job." Well maybe not entirly, he'd still have the old to collect, but that'd be slow and boring. Not that his job wasn't slow and boring at the current time.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 28, 2007 5:58 am

Xanul frowned. "Why do people want to kill each other anyway?" He queried, swishing his tails absent-mindedly. Everyone were of the same species, right? The little kit found it hard to believe that people seemed to think of killing as a sport. Well, perhaps to Dark witches and wizards, they killed many innocents. But why? Why? What was so fun about Death?

Grim mulled over the question for a moment before opening his skeletal maw to respond. After all, there were tons of reasons that people killed each other, though a few were more common then others. "Love, money, power." came the Reaper's eerie voice, as his tails snaped and cracked moving along his scythe's handle.

"There are lots of reasons as to why people kill each other. Some stupid, some not so. Though it's only the crazy ones that go around killing that seem to make my job interesting these days." His weight upon his paws shifted, as he gently rested his scythe upon the ground. There wasn't anything around to bother it anyways, so he might as well put it down. His bones were getting stiff holding it all the time anyways.
