The bells chimed throughout Radiant Garden as sunset spread across the vast city, the looming castle casting it's long black shadow across the grounds. Crystalline rivers flowed from the castle waterfalls and fell into deep pools of effervescent sparkle as children splashed around in the summer heat, screaming joyfully as the cool moisture touched their toes. A man with spiked black hair and lminous blue eyes sat on a nearby bench, watching with a smirk as the kids acted like animals and accidentally splashed citizens walking by. The bells chimed 6 times, birds flying away from the large ticking clock established on the front of the castle. "Good evening, Terra. What is it that draws you to the children at this hour?" A rugged bald man with bright yellow eyes approached the bench and smiled warmly at his apprentice, gesturing towards the seat. "If you do not object, I would very much like to have a seat. My legs are aching at the moment." "Please, do," Terra said, moving over for the man to sit. He gave a satisfied sigh as he sunk down onto the bench. "I was just watching them. It amazes me how pure and naive children can be, so blissfully unaware..." Terra trailed off as one of the children summoned a pure white keyblade out of thin air, using it as a water weapon and splashing his friends heavily. "Ah, yet another. I tell you, keybade wielders are so...commonplace these days. Even the youngest children are gifted with the power. Fascinating." Master Xehanort chuckled to himself as he ushered the child over. He came, bouncing down across the walkway and right in front of Terra and his Master. "Fine keybalde, young man, fine indeed...you must promise, however, not to hurt anyone with it unless absoltely necessary, yes?"

"Ok Mr. Xehanort!" The child scuttled away to it's friends. Several of the other children had spawned keyblades also, and began an explosive water fight. "Terra, you know of my other two disciples, yes?" Master Xehanort said, tilting his head and gazing into Terra's eyes. "Yes, the other two...Aqua, and..." Terra struggled with the last name. "Ventus, Terra. His name is Ventus. The youngest of you three." He looked up at the sky. "You three have yet to meet, I presume?" "Actually, I met, well, more like spotted, Aqua in the market the other day. She did not notice me, however. Her hair must drive people nuts, the way it's colored...like the ocean. A fitting name, Aqua is, you think?" Terra leaned back and propped his feet up on railing. "Yes, very fitting indeed. Would you like some ice cream?" Master Xehanort pulled out a couple of ice cream bars. Terra peeled the wrapper and bit. Seas-salt ice cream.

Master Xehanort paced his study, his hands behind his back as he contemplated something. His youngest disciple sat in a chair across from his desk, examining the many doohickies that littered the study. The boy had long silver hair and brown eyes. "Xehanort, sir, may I ask as to-?" Ansem said, watching his master pace the room in agitation. "We must leave, Ansem. Leave now." Xehanort regurgitated the words with powerful vigor and callousness. "But, sir..."Ansem stood up and watched Xehanort before walking out of the room in a state of shock.

"Do you have a name?" "Hunnnh...wha-?" "I said do you have a name, son?" "Who...where am I?" "You are in Radiant Garden." "Radiant...Garden...I, remember..." "Son, your name?" "Nothing." "Nothing? You remember nothing?" "...Xehanort..." The blonde man was irked by the name, and quickly straightened. "It has been a long time, since I've heard the name spoken." "Who...are you-?" The battered young boy flitted his eyes open. "Master...Xe...h-" He blacked out. The older blonde nodded his head and looked at the clear blue sky. "So, I see it begins once more. Well, Xehanort, if that is your name, your...true name, then my name is Ansem. Ansem...the Wise."

"I really don't think that this is necessary, master, you see-" Aqua was cut short as Master Xehanort lifted his hand for silence. She closed her mouth at once. She noticed that his features looked subtlely smoother and less wrinkled. "Aqua, please. Do not object. All I ask of you is to obey my orders. You, Terra, and Ventus will meet with Master Yen Sid and begin your new apprenticeship with him. Do I make myself clear?" His voice sounded irritated, but a hint of sorrow lingered in the words echoing in Aqua's mind. "Please, sir! I beg you, let us stay with you!" She dropped to her knees and clutched his long black coat. He shifted his gaze as a single miniscule tear fell from his face and onto the stone floor. "Aqua, it has been done. Don't make this any more painful for me than it already is." He snapped his head at her. "B-but...what about Ansem? Huh, what about him? You're going to take him instead of us?" She sounded desperate. "I require his assistance, and his assistance alone. He holds..." He trailed off. Aqua hung her head to the floor. "May I ask of you to keep an eye on little Ventus during your apprenticeship?" Now he sounded grave with worry. "Of course, sir...you know I won't let him out of my sight! Of course..." She paused and looked back at Xehanort quizzically. "Um, if you don't mind me asking sir, why the need to look after him? He's very capable-" "That's exactly what I'm afraid of. If he loses himself, his heart..." A glimmer twinkled through his eyes. "Aqua, has it ever occurred to you that maybe their was another part of you, waiting to be re-awakened? I mean, awakened...maybe, just maybe, you three will find that other side..." "Sir...?" Xehanort stiffened and turned on his heels as he marched out of the study. "I have said...too much. The time is not yet come for the child to be awakened. When the time comes, he will know. Yes, Ventus will know..."

Edit: "Terra! Terra, over here!" Aqua yelled above the crowd as she waved her hand frantically. She bumped into a little girl of maybe 4 or 5 with two neatly placed brown pigtails and a pink spring dress. She smiled optimistically. "Good morning to ya, lady!" She tipped her hand off the top of her head and rocked on her heels. "Wowzies, you got real pretty hair." She jumped up to grab Aqua's face and pulled it down, looking into her eyes. "Wowie, your eyes, too...don't they have a word for ocean in that one funny language? Japnanese, Japernese, Japa...ah, the word! Isn't it...Kairi? Yeah! Kairi, that's my name!" "Kairi, leave the woman alone!" A frazzled but kindly looking auburn-haired lady chased her daughter across the plaza.

Ventus - Ven as he was called by many of his friends - was bouncing around the marketplace, taking in every sight. "Wow." He exhaled as the girl walked away. "People are smart. That girl is like, 10, and she knows words in Japanese!" He turned towards Aqua and bowed. "Konichiwa." He straightened. "That's all I know!" He bounced off again, giving himself little boots with Aero.

"You're...Aqua, right?" Terra said, approaching Aqua as Ventus bounced towards him. Terra grabbed him by the back collar of his shirt and pulled him back. "You're not going anywhere, um...Vem? No, what's your name again?" "His name's Ventus, Terra," she smiled at the smaller boy, "Ven for short." Ventus huffed.

"He said what?" Terra's eyes widened, exasperated. "But, does that mean...It's...wha-?" He stammered, very confuddled. Ventus sat on a chair backwards, grabbing the headrest and rocking back and forth with a happy look on his face, unaware of what was going on.
"He's leaving with his youngest disciple tomorrow. And I don't think he's coming back for a while." Her brow furrowed and she bit her lip.

Xehanort stretched his palm out towards the wall in his study, just to the right of the large portrait of Terra hanging elegantly on the wall. Ansem stepped forward into the dark swirling portal first, disappearing in a warp of purple. Xehanort looked at his hands with disgust and looked around his study one more time before entering the abyss and disappearing.
They landed outside of a small cottage in the woods. A young woman could be heard singing somewhere in the distance, and three stout figures bounced around inside the house; one blue, one red, and one green.

(Oh, no way. Nice. I wouldn't have THOUGHT about them. Taking over your chars for a sec... sorry)
Ventus tipped over the chair but nobody seemed to notice. "How could he do this?" Terra seemed to almost howl, an overreaction probably caused by Ven running in circles around him. "Knowing Ansem, it's dangerous. Knowing Xehanort, it's VERY dangerous. And knowing the both of them, it's definitley exploring the unknown. Of course, they can't bring us along to help, can they?" He sat down and sighed. "Damn, now I sound like some worried mother, too." Ventus bounced over. "You had a mother? No way. You're too mean." He called over his shoulder as he continued to run around the room.

"Ventus! Wait...oh, never mind." Aqua slouched in Ventus' previously occupied seat and put her face in her hands. "We at least have one last chance to reason with him, right?" Terra nodded in reply, but was met with a shout from Xehanort's study.
"You guys! Get in here, quick!" Aqua and Terra dashed for the door, swinging it open with crushing force. It flew off of it's hinges and fell on the floor.
"What is it?" Terra saw Ventus gazing at a piece of paper.
"Well, for one, Master and Ansem decided to take an...early exit." Ventus scratched his head, and Aqua drew in her breath loudly. "And he accidentally left behind a...report of some sort." He handed it over for Aqua and Terra to read. It was ripped into a small section, leaving only the middle passage left.
...because of this, it has occurred to me, and consequentially young Ansem, that maybe my hypothesis was wrong. The little girl's grandmother spoke with me yesterday over a warm cup of tea concerning "roads" to other worlds. From what I've gathered, these roads can be manipulated by opening portals of darkness. But, for one to open these portals, one must succumb to the darkness in their hearts. It appears as if my only choice in the matter is to let this darkness take over me. I do hope to protect Ansem, however, as his heart is not yet corrupted by the impurities of infinite wisdom. But, then again, neither am I, not completely. Master Yen Sid is said to reside in the world known as Aurora's Kingdom, along with his three assistants. To imagine that a trio of fairies are under the employ of such a man is quite amusing. I do worry for my soon-to-be-former disciples during my absence. Especially young Ventus. If Terra chooses to come after me, which he may very well do, this could affect Ventus prematurely. The young man will not be ready for what he must do. Aqua, I am sure, will set out to find me, but will part from the other two, more so Terra than Ventus, but she knows not of what waits for...
"What wait for...?" Aqua was confused, and her face was pale and grey.
