I don't actually play Warhammer 40k yet, but I've been looking for a store or shop that actually sells it, and trying to decide what army I want to start with. I thought I might do Tau, but they seem too expensive sweatdrop Any help?

This is actually a good topic, a few members havent started yet, so it dsoesnt need to be locked.
Most players start with Space marines, because they're easier to play as, but I find them rather bland. What style of army do you want to have, as in shooty, vehicly, or lots of troops, etc?

Orks are great for that you get lots and lots of guys and some cool trukks and battle wagons and you can make your own you don''t have to build the kit I''m using a porsh model car that I converted into a trukk for my boys a guy I know used a trashed IG tank for the body of his trukk and using a little card makes great armour plateing twisted twisted twisted

Indeed. But if you get the right equipment the first time you will end up spending less. Myself, I don't buy certain citadel brushes, as they don't last. However their dry brushes are very good. I usually go to craft shops like "Spotlight" or "Lincraft" for my other brushes...... Then again I do most of my painting with fine detail brushes anyway.

Buy the codex first & some minis & maybe some paint. that way you can go over the rules & get a idea. then find some friends that play 40k. one of them will usally be better off money wise & have the rulebook so you can learn what you need to from playin them

I started with necrons and i didnt thing that they were that hard but the only problem is that when you build warriors it takes some time. and the only bad thing with the orks is that they die to quickly.
