Welcome to the The Weary Retreat Inn!

The inn sits in the middle of Lednil, the capital of Lindell. It is built out of crude brick and wood and has a thatched roof. It sits slightly raised off the street, with with a set of 4 steps leading up to a small porch and the door. The windows have shutters, but are otherwise open air.

Despite it's homely and weathered look outside, the inn inside is cozy and very tidy. Eleven tables are set up in the main area -- five in the middle, three pushed against the back wall near two windows, one to the right of the entrance, and two pushed together near the bar. The bar is to the left of the entrance and stretches the length of the wall. To the far end are wooden stairs that lead up to the rooms, and beneath the stairs is a archway leading into the kitchen and stairs down to a cellar.

The Weary Retreat welcomes all adventurers, small and large, to grab a bit to drink, a bite to eat, and relax!

This is designed to be a mostly free-form roleplay set in a medieval time period with possible fantasy (and other) elements. Most races will be accepted providing there is a story for their visit. I hope everyone who enters finds and embarks on their own exciting adventures. The Weary Retreat will waiting for your return and to hear the thrilling stories.

The Rules

1. Follow all Gaia and Guild Rules!
2. This is a semi-literate to literate role play. That is, to say, no one-liners and please use proper spelling.
3. No godmodding.
4. Please post a profile in the appropriate thread linked in the opening post.
5. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
6. Feel free to talk in OOC, but please denote it with some sort of symbolism and try to keep it to a minimum.
7. Races of any kind are welcome! Keep in mind, however, that this is still a medieval time period and strange events are usually met with distrust.
8. Guns and other similar modern technology are forbidden! Characters violating this will find their weapons completely useless. This is so the integrity of the setting is kept intact. Other weapons (swords, daggers, bows, etc) are perfectly fine.
9. All drinks are non-alcoholic to preserve a PG-13 setting. No drunkards here.
10. Most importantly, have fun! I want this to be a positive, open free-form experience for anyone entering.

I reserve the right to change these as I see fit.

Feel free to PM me with any questions!

The Province of Lindell
(map to come)

Faymoor: A small fishing and farming community settled near Eveningale Forest and Cenne River. To the east, a bridge crosses the river that leads across the plains into Falldale, and to the west the road leads through Eveningale forest to the secluded elven city of Eveninwood. Another road follows the river south to the bay and the coastal town of Rosebeach.

Falldale: A very small farming village set along the West Road on the Fall Plains. Everyone who lives there is a farmer of one thing or another. The road continues east to the capital and also north into the mountains.

Eveninwood: Protectors of the wood, the elves maintain most of their lives in this city built up in the trees. It is mostly self-sufficient, getting most of the supplies from the forest. Few elves ever leave the safety of the wood.

Rosebeach: A very busy port town, and the only ocean connection for the province. It has two major roads leading from the town: one following the river to the far north town of Faymoor and one leading to the capital, Lednil.

Lednil: The capital city of Lindell. The Weary Retreat sits in the heart of the city, attracting many different types of people of many races. The capital features a variety of stores, services, and other offerings--legal or otherwise. Nearly anyone who visits Ledil passes by the Weary Retreat at least once, and many at least stop in for a warm meal and a drink.

Roads: The West Road travels west from Lednil, connecting most towns and villages in one way or another. A few other roads branch from this, but it is considered the main road of the province. Another notable road is the Cenne Road, that travels the most of the length of the Cenne River.

Extra reserved space for endless possibilities

Rinni walked down the creaky old stairs, pausing on the last step to look around the room. She had worked here for a couple years now, and adored it for the most part. While she was happy she was the owner now, her heart was also heavy from the loss of the previous owner. He'd been the closest thing to a father she'd had since her own died.

The corner of her lip turned up slightly in a half smile and she nodded quickly. "Well, time for finishing touches!" she said as she walked back into the kitchen. She stretched her arms up above her head and exhaled loudly before grabbing an old rag and heading back out into the eatery. She began removing chairs from the tops of the tables and arranging them, and wiping the tables off with the rag.

After she'd finished with the tables, she walked around the inn, pushing the shutters open. The dew had not yet dried from the window sill, and the morning air was still crisp and cool. The fragrant scent of fresh spring flowers quickly filled the inn, chasing the staleness out. She placed the rag on the sill before inhaling deeply to take in the fresh scents. She exhaled with a loud sigh as she walked over to the door and and propped it open.

She was ready for business. Normally it was rather empty during the morning hours, but she hoped for someone to pop in, if only for a friendly chat. She took a seat behind the bar and placed her hands on the bar.

"Wow, I guess this is why I was never hear this early before. So...boring..."

a figure walked in. he was wearing a large blue cloak, blue gloves, blue boots, and aparantly a blue shirt beneath the cloak, and possibly blue pants as well. what was oddest was that is all was royal blue, rather than some darker, cheaper shade. this guy must have been rich, nobility, or a theif. in any case, his gold was still made of gold, and he bought a cup. just a cup. no water, no tea, no milk, no ale, no blood, just a cup. he then walked over to teh darkest, most cornery corner of the room and poured some strange orange stuff into teh cup and drank that instead.

it must be said that he was doing an amazing job of keeping his body from sight.

Peter raised his SMG only to find that it was not in the holster. He removed the holster and threw it at the four-legged ogre-like thing. He pulled out his halberd and started jabbing the ogre like crazy. The ogre pounded him into the ground, launching the halberd into the tree. He was about to finish him when he ran away. Peter noticed that he had played tic-tac-toe on his belly. He picked up the halberd and walked to the nearest town.

Peter found himself in a nice-looking village northwest from where he encountered the ogre-thing. He walked inside a building with a sign that read, The Weary Retreat. He put his light, nice, white jacket outlined with blue on the coat rack. He sat down, opened up his favorite novel and awaited the waitress/waitor.

((GoldenNote, if you could post a character profile in the profile thread, I'd really appreciate it. It is linked in the first post or here))

Rinni intently watched the very blue dressed figure enter the inn. She creased her brow when he ordered a cup, but took the gold and didn't say anything about. She smiled warmly as she handed him the cup, but she creased her brow in a puzzled look again as he went and sat in the back corner. She didn't want to stare, but his outfit and his general demeanor struck her as rather odd. She watched him pour his own drink, and made note to ask what that was before he left.

She was so fixated on blue-man that she didn't notice the other man enter. She quickly glanced at him, then back at the other man. Odd and quiet characters today, she thought to herself.

She gave a welcoming smile to him, "Hi there, stranger. What're you here for?" She leaned slightly to place her left hand on the table and continued to smile.

(( D'oh! My bad, I thought the profile page was your avatar's profile page. Anyways, done.))

He looked at the woman approaching him, and put down his book. "Oh, nothing, just planning to get a drink and then rent a night. I'd rent it now, but I can be a bit lazy. I need to rent a room because tomorrow I need to get a good night's sleep and borrow a horse or some form of transportation," He replied, "Because tomorrow I need to get back to my hometown, a large group of barbarians is going to attack in a couple of days. So anyways, could I just get, like, a cup of Delight?"

when Zimmianw as asked abotu his drink he replied "its called Drakes blood. no, not really blood of a drake. it has some... interesting side affects. it can be lethal if you haven't built up a tolerance for it, but its well worth the seevn years of drinking it mixed with whatever else your dirnking. for the next few hours I'll be instantly knowing things about whatever. the next man to come through that door will be wearing fake elven chainmail. two days three hours nine minutes and 3.467 seconds after he pays his bill he'll be killed by someone who wants to steal that fake armor, and the thief will die trying to save his village from a hoarde of minitaurs. these minitaurs will destroy that village and three others before encountering me. tahst where my kowledge gets fuzzy. I see myself dieing, but still wining the fight, and then celebrating in this very tavern afterward. drakes blood has never been proven wrong, so i guess I'll return here, splattered with minitaur blood, at some point in the near future. would you like me to tell you what your last dream was, and what it means? when you'll meet your true love, and when He'll die? by the way, I'd like to apalogise for the people in yoru life who are going to, um, explode." Zimmian let the shocked silence sette adn returned to drinking the drakes blood.

Peter put down his book. He tried to remember he was on page 298 in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx. He climbed the wooden stairs and used the Bthroom. He walked down the stairs and went to the Innkeeper and asked for a room. He took the room key and sat back down where he was sitting. He was awaiting his Berry Delight when there was a knock on the window next to him. "329! 144! 890- Umm, 189!" The kid on the other side of the window was shouting. He put a bookmark in and the kid said "Aww". He recognized the kid - but if it WAS him, then he is in a helluva punishment. Peter walked out the door and looked at the little tike. "Tim?" Peter asked. "Yessssss?" He answered. That snobby brat better have a reason for being here. "What the hell are you doing here?" Peter questioned. He pointed to Peter, then himself, then a carriage with spinners. He sighed and put his hands together, palms facing tim. He ran inside and returned the key. He wrote a little note to the waitress and put it on the table. He grabbed his belongings and jumped inside the carriage. Tim was already in. A guard was driving the carriage. And as they were leaving, Peter quickly handed a smith some gold and took some plating for his shins, chest, arms, crotch, shoulders, and took a green helmet.

Ronyo found himself watching a young elf race out of the door and towards a carriage. His sight was amusing to a degree and Ronyo entered the Weary Retreat with a smile. The place seemed nice and well decorated for the way it looked from outside. Not a lot of patrons at the present moment it seemed, but it was still early and the dew still had not dried. This left the air smelling wet and fresh but then Ronyo’s nose caught another smell. He called to the winds to bring the scent to him again. It was the smell of blood. It wasn’t a hard smell to detect in this day and age, in fact most people had it on them, but this…man had it overpowering. His smell also had an air of animal but it wasn’t something Ronyo was going to worry about. This place was nice and the people here had reasons of there own to do what they wanted. At that time Ronyo realized he had been standing in the doorway this whole time. The waitress had approached him and apparently was getting tired of asking “can I help you?”

“Oh, sorry I was off in my own little world. Well met my name is Ronyo Storm. This is a nice establishment you have here.” Ronyo’s smile was one of general kindness. Ronyo out stretched his hand to great the lady.
